Hi Eds,
I saw on the main page that you said Lukaku is real possibility to join us? Just wondering if this is true and if there are any other potential signings you know of?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I am told that he is the man Pochettino has earmarked to replace Ricky Lambert in the long term. Chelsea are open to selling him, but he does have other options, such as Spurs, who are also interested. A lot depends on finances, but the sale of Shaw to Chelsea, with Lukaku in part ex is something that, while not likely, isn't being ruled out entirely just yet. The main issue I foresee is Lukaku, who is looking for Champions League football. As for other potential signings, I really don't know right now.}

Ahh interesting, seems like a striker's a priority then as the papers are talking about Ings, also heard something about Dan Rowe, an 18 year old CB who player for Rotheram on loan at Wycomb, but that's probably just paper talk

Agree2 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - Dan Rowe has had a lot of people watching him, but he is one for the future anyway. Ings is very much on the radar, it is the price being asked that is keeping him there for now. If there wasn't a requirement to run within the club's means, then I would have expected a move for him. As it is, there is likely to be limited activity on the ins front this summer. Sorry, I know that isn't exciting and probably not good for the site to say it, but it does look like there will be a few making way and getting the club back in the black first. Obviously, a big sale such as Shaw would change that immediately, it would put the club back into the black in one step. Personally, I think he will stay one more year though Chelsea are there ready to swoop and the likes of Madrid are having him watched.}

We're not going to get much from the sale of Jack Cork (only a year left on his contract) but it does look to me like he will go this summer as there has been no offer of a new deal from the club.
What's your thought Ed?
St Nicholas

Agree1 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - he was wanting to leave before he got a run of games, I would think that has been taken into account and I expect him to be sold.}

Do you think that Chelsea have the advantage over United in the pursuit of Shaw ed001?

Big Lal

Agree5 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - yes. For one, they have had an offer on the table for a while. Secondly the lad supports them. Thirdly, having met both managers myself, I very much doubt anyone is going to choose Moyes over Mourinho. There is so much charisma and charm emanating from the Chelsea manager and he has shown the capability to make players perform at much higher levels. Chelsea are much more likely to challenge for titles as well.}

That last post was also from
Big Lal

Agree0 Disagree1

I have no doubt ed001 that if Shaw had the choice he would choose chelsea but what I mean is which club do you think is most likely to strike a deal with Southampton?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - again Chelsea, they have a number of players to offer and the money to pay what is required to seal a deal as well. If the player is pushing to go there as well, then it is always most likely to be them. Not that I am saying he is pushing to go there right now, because he is not pushing to go anywhere. I am just explaining why I think if he will go anywhere it is most likely to be Chelsea.}

Alright cheers ed001. Informative as usual!

So um, in what capacity have you met Moyes and Mourhino. 'there is so much charm and charisma emanating from the chelsea manager' you could not argue with his track record but when he loses or feels threatened by a team or an individual he can be pretty charmless.

Are you his agent working undercover to assist with the sale of shaw?

I do agree with you though cannot believe that Luke will go to United and when the times comes it will be to the team he supports Chelsea. He will cost the russian £ 25 30million I reckon.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Ed001 is actually Big Vic's agent!

35 to 40 for shaw I rekon

Hi Eds,
Is there any truth in the rumour that Saints have a few financial difficulties? it was mentioned on TalkSport last night?

cheers
Tommi

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any, having checked with the other editors, no one else is aware of any difficulties. There is a desire to be financially viable and to run the club within its means, but no difficulties.}

There was something about a debt of around £25m but RK said that it would be sorted. It is believed that most of this was due to nc's chosen wages!

{Ed002's Note - One person at Spurs has support for Pochettino rather than van Gaal. There is also interest in Pochettino from Marseille.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Pocchetino proved that he is loyal when he stayed with Espanol, before he was pushed. Even thought rumour has it that Real Madrid had been interested. I think if given the right deal, he'll stay with usand continue his great work especially with the academy players, which apparently he is very passionate about. Of course Tottenham will be interested, who could blame them?

Agree5 Disagree0

Totally agree, Pocc has moved the squad forward and will inevitably draw interest from other ambitious clubs.
I hope he stays, and I hope he is mindful of his next transfer targets, don't want another Dani O scenario.

Would like to see 4 quality new signings:
CB, GK as cover, Striker and winger
What are other Saints fans thoughts?

Agree6 Disagree1

I agree the only players we will sell will be player WE want to sell and why would Poch leave, this is his project and I agree a GK and CB is a must and a versatile striker a bit like Jay who can play up top and off the striker, with a bit of pace. But I wouldn't mind a top quality player in the middle of the park if Ramirez goes (which I don't think he will) but if someone like Shaqrie becomes available then we should go for it, GK someone like Fraser Forster or I'd still love Jack Butland, CB, there was a rumour about Mussachio which would be unbelievable!

Agree0 Disagree1

All I really want is a keeper after watching gazzanigas last few performances! We need to do what Stoke and Swansea did in scouting out across Europe and picking great talent like they did with Begovic and Vorm

Agree2 Disagree0

But Gazzaniga is third choice keeper! How many clubs have anything more than a decent player at third choice? We do need to find 1-2 young keepers, either through transfers or from the academy (Cropper? Britt?) because Davis is likely to retire and Gazza will clearly not be good enough--at least not for years, but I'm happy with Boruc as first choice.

Agree0 Disagree1

I meant that the new keeper would be first choice, allowing kelvin to become a goalkeeping coach and Artur to decide whether he still wants to continue or retire for good.

The hedge

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Boruc consider retirement? He's only 34. Keepers these days often play until they're 38-40.
