Southampton interested in Wigan midfielder Callum Mcmanaman

Believable3 Unbelievable13

He wouldn't get in the side

Agree11 Disagree5

Not good enough. He's average at best and he isn't going to get much better then he is at the moment.

Agree8 Disagree3

Not worth the transfer fee.

Agree8 Disagree3

Thought he was a striker? or he can play upfront either way he's quality and I'd love to sign him!

Agree3 Disagree8

No, they are not!

Agree9 Disagree1

I hope not

Agree9 Disagree4

Be glad to hear this one. Horror tackle on his debut - bit of youthful exuberance. However, he looked very dangerous towards the end of the season and he had a great cup final. Would be great to see how he develops under Poch. Yes please.

Agree10 Disagree4

He's not a bad player but not better then what we got already

Agree2 Disagree2

He is good enough, and has a lot of potential, he'd be a great signing you obviously didn't see him play at the end of last season, he ripped city a part too, they don't have to be foreign and have a massive price tag to be a good signing you know.

Agree4 Disagree1

Very good young player. Decent on the left wing.

Spurs have said they want £6m for Jermaine Defoe. The prices flying around out there (22m damiao, 12-18m Osvaldo) I would snap there hands off at 6m for a proven PL striker! Thoughts?

Believable8 Unbelievable12

Too old.

Agree8 Disagree5

No point going for Defoe, think we can get younger fresher talent for that much. Plus Defoe has high wage demands.

Agree6 Disagree4

Yeh, Agree. The sort of player we should be going for this year or darren Bent, Proven EPL players which will improve us for the up-coming season. let's not try running before we can walk in this league!

Agree6 Disagree6

Defoe. Proven goal scorer at the premier league level but not a target lone striker. Not sure he would be any better then mayuka.

Agree5 Disagree3

Fine if you want to be no better than Spurs.
And for me, for every goal Defoe scores there are two more his team could have scored if he wasn't so greedy

Agree7 Disagree2

I understand where people are coming from with regards to Defoe, or Bent. However are they better than we already have. Both players come with large wage packets, and I doubt either are particularly hungry.

Surely we are building a team for the future. A team that is based on having a stable team, fully of hungry young players.

I don't think that we'll panic buy. Cortese is far to shrewd for that. We'll pick the targets, and if we get them great; if not move on to the next.

Like everyone else, I'd like to see us bring in a new striker, and possible another CAM with the ability to pick out a pass, but I'd also be content with what we've got, if we don't manage to bring in our intended targets.

Agree5 Disagree0

What do you mean by fine if you want to be no better than spurs? Spurs are a top team where we can only hope to be. Go back to bed little boy and stop playing with the grown ups

Agree2 Disagree7

We need a player of lamberts mould to suit our playing style. Hence being linked with the likes of damiao and osvaldo.

Agree2 Disagree0

He's not the player that is going to run around the pitch to work as a team. Yes Lambert may lack pace, hover he does close down, but has additional defending attributes when it comes to corners and free kicks. But we need to defend from the front as one.

Agree2 Disagree0

Defoe greedy? can't agree with that. Great player with a great attitude. Would be a much better option than the mercenaries we could end up with.

Agree1 Disagree5

Defoe not a mercenary? He went to play for Pompey for a love of the game did he?
And as for Spurs, they couldn't even make up their own song so nicked ours.
Their success is also all being built on the back of one Saints player who wants to join Madrid. So follow in the footsteps of Spurs? No thanks, it seems to be them that needs us.
Defoe, good finisher, nothing else. Without Bale, he'd have struggled the past two seasons. Too predictable

Agree4 Disagree4

Defoe is not the right way for us. We already have the best English goalscoring striker in our team. We need other ways to develop the team now.

Agree1 Disagree0

Were not better than Spurs. Realism! Yet!

Agree0 Disagree2

Defoe isn't a mercenary. You can tell when he is interviewed that he just loves playing. Strange comment 'He is a good finisher and nothing else'. I thought anyone who watches on a regular basis would say that finishing is our achilles heel!

Agree2 Disagree1

The people who say they don't want Defoe are the same people that want Sharp in the first team! Defoe is a proven goalscorer, I would take him any day.

Agree1 Disagree5

Ex pompy player. no thanks

Agree2 Disagree0

^^ Errr, no we aren't the same people who want Sharp in the first team. Just because we don't rate Defoe, doesn't mean you can speak for us on every other subject.

Agree0 Disagree0

We lost and drew to Spurs last season for one reason only. Gareth Bale. Take him out of the equation and there isn't now much between us

Silly rumour from st marys yesterday. Jason puncheon to go on loan to crystal palace to give isgrove a chance at regular senior squad time. Not sure if true. Seems odd because isgrove would not take a squad space being under the age threshold. Maybe puncheon has high wages and we are making space for a midfield signing?

Believable0 Unbelievable19

Yep you got that right, it is a silly rumour.

Agree17 Disagree0

Oh dear, there always has to be one.

Agree14 Disagree0

Can't believe you took this seroiusly!

Agree6 Disagree2

Just bc he's been with ian holloway once doesn't mean every team he managers punch will go to

Italian reports saying that we have given Osvaldo and Roma until Wednesday to make a decision about his future and whether to sell

Believable2 Unbelievable9

After watching the game yesterday it is obvious that jay r can not play as target man against a quality defence. We need to either add a forward or someone who can feed the ball into them better. And would not be surprised if we have given them a deadline. We need that extra quality up front and in a hurry. Shame that mayuka didn't play all of the second half I might have had a different view. with his pace and gaston in the hole there is potential to work with.

Agree8 Disagree4

Get him signed!

Agree6 Disagree3

It certainly makes sense for NC to give a deadline. Especially so close to the start of the season. I agree. We need someone up front fast and we appear to be running out of options that can hit the ground running.

I am still not convinced Osvaldo is going to want to come to us or that we have completely about faced and inquired about him.

Agree3 Disagree0

If we got Osvaldo, we would need a good attacking midfielder. he is only as good as the balls that come to him (especially true of him compared to a lot of EPL strikers)

Agree2 Disagree1

We have good attacking midfielders. Lallana, Ramirez, JWP, Davis.

Agree2 Disagree1

I must of been watching a different game. Jay rod was quality.
Fact is second half was more of the squad players.
We didn't create know where near as much as we did in the first.
Good thing to take from the second half was that our squad players still held a 1-1 draw against a team who's qualified for Europe.
Looked good going forward 1st half. Conceded far too easily though.
Would of liked to have seen lovren and yoshi paired together

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry I don't agree that they are the answer. We need a really good attacking midfield player.
