Head coach of Feyenoord now saying Pelle is in England for negotiations with us! Looks like Koeman was true to his word. I for one am now very excited despite our potential losses! COYR!

Fantastic news. looking forward to seeing him play.

Excellent. Fingers crossed he doesn't osvaldo/delgado us.

A couple more good players ans think it could be a good season

Agree6 Disagree1

I think he might be going to Newcastle ( hope not)

Agree2 Disagree12

My understanding is he came in last night and fly's out Sunday morning. He will be at Staplewood today for the official doings.

I have also heard we have offered Morgan the captain arm band and a new deal

Agree10 Disagree1

Interesting ref the new Capt as the Koemanator stated that we will see in the friendlies next week what is happening but Spider not back until the week after.

New captain has to be Cork, surely! Model player, always works hard, never gives up!
Love to see the teams engine with the arm band!

Sounds good Corky is perfect for the armband. Here we go. BUT . I am not sure he will be playing every game with our midfield options. If he stays has to be Spider , if not Davis but then he might not be an ever present. Let's see who the centre half is going to be , in history they are usually the best bet.

If Pelle signs today or tomorrow will he join the team over in Belgium or have to come and train with Lovren and Osvaldo at Staplewood. Just thought of that and I think probably best he goes shopping or something till the lads get back!

Agree3 Disagree1

Schnids should have the band. for me he is the most vital component to the way we play. he has been mature in the media about transfer talk, he's come all the way with us and for me would be the first name down on the team sheet.

Driving past the spiritual SMS today and spotted a gent in charcoal suit with another gent in suit looked very much like pelle however it was a quick glance and from distance could quite easily of been paulo gazza

According to the Feyenoord coach pelle is in England so could well have been him

Or ronaldo, or maybe the guy from the kebab shop

AC Milan are looking to bring Osvaldo from Southampton back to Italy. The deal will involve Osvaldo and Japan star Keisuke Honda swapping clubs on loan with option to buy for both as well. Good source within Milan youth team who says that Honda could be frozen out of the first team if he stays.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Keisuke Honda would be an insane amazing signing :) come on yosh send him a txt to get the ball rolling!! COYR+WS!!!!

Agree13 Disagree2

While I would love this to be true as Honda is a great player, I do not believe this rumour as it seems to be too good to be true.

Agree10 Disagree2

11 Jul 2014 18:48:35
oh please let this be true.

Agree11 Disagree1

11 Jul 2014 20:11:30
Didn't they only get Honda in January. Surely this is completely trash talk. Like most of Southampton I would love this to be true. Highly doubt it though

Agree8 Disagree3

Bring in honda

Agree7 Disagree1

Think you miss read it, they want Osvaldo and want to swap with a 52 plate Honda Accord, it has 6months tax and Mot, and a nice little runner

Agree20 Disagree0

If true that's class he is quality

Ronald Koeman stated in his press conference that the Pelle deal is nearing it's completion and hopes the deal can be completed by next week

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I thought he said by this weekend. He also seemed to think Dejan would be back for training which is good. Although what he said r. e. Osvaldo wasn't encouraging but what were we expecting to be honest.

Agree5 Disagree0

11 Jul 2014 17:08:04
Yeah sorry Saintphil meant to say by the weekend. Not bothered at all about Dejan leaving now, can't see him being able to fit back into the squad after what he's said

Agree4 Disagree4

Giingersaint: load of rubbish, Suarez kicked up a stink about leavening Liverpool when the famous 40 million and one pound bid came in from arsenal!

Liverpool stood their ground and told arsenal to do one and told Suarez he was staying! End of. He had the best ever season he ever had.

The fans forgave him so if the same happens with lovren your telling me we would not want him in our team? Ridiculous! He would be welcomed with open arms! COYR!

saint_ben_basingstoke: don't see how a player who has openly admitted that he doesn't want to be at our club, can fit back in. Unless he proves that he wants to play for us then what's the point in him being here?

If he doesn't want to play for us, sell him and bring someone in who wants to play for the badge and the fans, not just themselves.

Agree1 Disagree2

Giingersaint: your being a bit naive, of course you want every single player to love the club the fans and everything else but if you believe you can have a full squad of players like that your living in a dream world mate!!

One word, lallana. If he apologises and says he wants to play for us then we will welcome him, he is still a saints player.

Agree1 Disagree1

Lallana's gone and a very disrespectful prat ( I could use worse words but they wouldn't get printed, use your own adjective lol) he can shove his apology, I for one wouldn't accept it now as it would be very hollow apology, stuff him!

Koeman has said Schneiderlin is staying!

Believable7 Unbelievable3

I hope so he would be very hard to replace.

TV saying pelle deal nearing completion, let's hope he's quality

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Where did you see this buddy.

Personally I think he's a great choice.

Agree5 Disagree0

Dharmesh shef ssn

Agree5 Disagree2

Koeman confirmed in his press conference that it was close and he also confirmed Spider would be staying

Agree6 Disagree1

I never at any stage heard him say Spider was staying he was speculating and saying that there were not any offers. We all know there will be, hope he stays but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Agree3 Disagree4

'We don't have any bid for Schneiderlin. I spoke to him last week and he will come back in two weeks. He will be a Southampton player. ' is what he said

Agree4 Disagree2

Political talk which means he is a Southampton player at the moment which is true but that could change in hours. Hope not but it very well might.

Agree2 Disagree0

I dunno, sounded a lot different to what he said about lovren - sounded like he knew for definite about Spider

Steven Caulker is not keen on joining QPR and is reported Southampton could make a move as a possible replacement for Dejan Lovren

Believable7 Unbelievable3

11 Jul 2014 11:04:48
Steven Caulker would be a fantastic capture for us. I just have a feeling though that we may have other targets in mind.

Agree7 Disagree2

Reports are suggesting he's holding out for Liverhampton and not interested in QPR or Crystal Palace, I can't find any recent info regarding Saints though

Agree5 Disagree1

Caulker is nowhere near as good as lovren nor is he as commanding. Lovren is a leader at the back and so should be his replacement. Caulker would be welcome to join but as a challenger to fonte and yoshida. I don't expect Koeman to see him as a replacement to Lovren either and i'm sure he has people in mind this does not sound like one of his targets.

Agree8 Disagree2

11 Jul 2014 20:16:49
I would love Caulker at Saints. He is a future England captain in my eyes and at 22 he shows maturity at Center back way beyond him. Not just a great prospect for the future but also class atm. Get him and van dijk signed and we are laughing. Hooiveld and Yoshida are not premier league standard defenders

Agree3 Disagree4

Hooiveld is definitely not up the current standard, but I think that Yoshida looks good enough when he gets a run of games. It's when he just gets an odd game here and there that he looks disconnected and off the pace.

In the Daily Mail it says both Southampton and Stoke are showing an interest in Norwich winger Nathan Redmond. Hopefully with the way we play we are the more attractive option to him.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

As a young english lad who would you choose out of the 3? would stoke be able to offer that much more in wages.

Agree2 Disagree4

You would choose saints out of those 3 clubs?? some fans we have haha :)

According to the Daily Star Southampton's bid to sign Graziano Pelle has stalled with the club unwilling to meet Feyenoord's £9.5m asking price. Ronald Koeman could now turn his attention to Sunderland's Connor Wickham. Also Hull want to sign Southampton centre-back Jose Fonte if they fail in their bid to capture Michael Dawson from Spurs.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Nooooo I don't want wickham, get lukaku in or someone with his ability

Agree6 Disagree4

We can't afford Lukaku. not the price. its his wages

Agree7 Disagree2

That's why we need to re-configure our wage structure

Agree4 Disagree3

Pelè has scored 52 goals In Two Seasons. Southampton would Be mad not raise their bid. 😧

Agree2 Disagree2

Don't know what it is with saints they seem to take ages to sign anyone, get the players in sooner than later to gel with squad,

Agree7 Disagree1

11 Jul 2014 11:21:10
saint marco, all teams take a long time to sign players, it's the process. We only notice because we're waiting, but it's the same for fans of every other team. Just have a look at their forums.

"build it and they will come"

Agree4 Disagree3

WillsaSaint, to up the wage structure we need an increase in revenue or we will start heading down the slippery slope of 5 years ago.

One of the best ways to increase this is to increase season ticket sales to a point that we are at capacity at all games. Then increase the ground size.

The more support from the fans in turning out for games, the better the revenue and the better chances of increasing the wage structure. If we want to grow as a club this is the way forward.

Our sugar daddy days are finished and now we are being run as a business which means balancing the books.

Agree3 Disagree1

Mateja kezman scored 105 in 122 in holland. it means nothing in the PL. van wolfswinkel also scored for fun there. The club will be looking more at the player than stats and the fact Koeman isn't saying "pay the 12m euro, he is worth every penny" speaks volumes to me.

Agree4 Disagree1

It was all over twitter last night that the deal is back on, and that potentially Pelle is in Southampton today for a medical. Also reports from Total Dutch Football state that Feyenord are open to selling Pelle, and need the cash. Koeman has a great relationship with Feyenord's Technical Director, and is aware of how much Feyenord are willing to sell Pelle for.

This isn't about the sale of Pelle - this is about the 'Phat Wad of Cash' that Saints have just received.

Agree2 Disagree2

11 Jul 2014 16:40:04
Sort of agree with cyprussaint about the slippery slope, however, we will only have maximum season ticket sales if we have a top class team. Unfortunately to do this you have to pay the very best players the very best wages. Catch 22 but I know what you mean.

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't think we should raise the bid for Pelle, Koeman know the player & his ability. Remember Alfonso Alves, Middelsbrough paid about £15m for a so called proven goalscorer but was useless in the premier league. Not saying he will not be good for use but we have to trust the Manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

The main stumbling block to changing Saints' wage structure is the new Premiership Financial Fair Platy rules. As I understand them (I'm not an expert), these state that for clubs with total wages above 52 million per year, wages can only increase by 4 million per year, plus the amount of any additional income generated by "revenue from new commercial deals. " Saints were actually at about 47 million in wages last year, so this year our total wage bill can grow by about 9 million. That means a total increase in wages across ALL players and staff at the club of about 170,000 per week is all that is permitted until we have new commercial income in place. This is why we could not match United and Liverpool's huge wage offers to Shaw and Lallana.
