So we r spending around 45m on summer transfers including what we have spent so far? Plus wages for heskey and Owen, both of which will never come here as they aren't the sort of players we are after? We won't sign 3 wingers, ogbonna is random and made up. Shawcross has been mentioned a number of times and as much as I'd like to see it I can't see stoke parting with their captain. Plus if we were willing to spend 8m on butland we would have done it when we were previously interested. We are not at panic stations and certainly won't spend stupidly.

Believable7 Unbelievable7

Ah common sense , nice to see owen and heskey really!

Southampton have rejected the £4m offer from Chelsea for defender Luke Shaw. Southampton have told Chelsea that only a bid of £12m plus Ryan Bertrand on loan for one full season will be considered.

Believable7 Unbelievable8

Unless you know someone at Chelsea who has blabbed, then this is a pure guess.

Ok look how longs it been since our last signing 2 weeks ? thereabouts im pretty sure NC hasnt been sat on his arse twiddlin his thumbs im pretty sure hes tryna wrap up all of our last dealings all at once seein as it is nearing the end of transfer window and man city next week so when we do announce our next signing dont be too shocked if its more than one. joe

Believable8 Unbelievable5

I think you are part right in that we will sign a couple at once but only because NC returned from holiday today, therefore I'd expect him to push through the transfers that have been work hard on behind the scenes whilst he has been away for a month.

Saints have 9 players who they are eager to sign and have committed to:
Zaha 7million
Lens 7.5 million
Shawcross 6.5 million
Butland 8 million
Matt Philips 4 million
Ogbonna 3.5 million (Torino Italy, CB)
Owen free
Heskey free

This has all come down from panic in the dressing room after the poor display against a decent opposition against Udinese

Adkins is starting to worry about Lambert not being in form,
furthermore he wants to secure loan moves for Arsenal's
Karl Bartley and Francis Coquelin.

Adkins really believes he needs signings, and he needs them quick.

Believable3 Unbelievable14

This is the funniest rumour yet. the only half viable target is matt phillips the rest are either out of our price range or just made up rubbish

Agree10 Disagree6

Sorry but you've listed three wingers and two "past it stirkers not gonna happen.
Plus £6.5 for Shawcross! come on! he's gonna cost at leat £10m

Agree9 Disagree0

Southampton can't have so many signings for one. And neither Owen nor Heskey would be targets. Their are strikers at the club already. I don't see Zaha happening any more. Matt Philips is possible but unlikely after the allegations. Shawcross and Lens would be brilliant signings. Butland is not worth that they wouldn't pay that much and Ogbonna I know nothing about.

Agree8 Disagree0

There are 8 players in that list? heskey? owen? haha you are either a skate or completely clueless

Agree8 Disagree0

Owen- LOL Heskey-LOL Ogbanna- Good luck, + owens going to everton

Agree7 Disagree0

Ogbonna would be an amazing signing. As for the other butland is a no go, shawcross wont happen and heskey, really? otherwise the list is brilliant and would secure us a mid table prem team.

Ed was this post really worth putting up. I was one of the 3700 faithful at the game Saturday and there should be no reason to panic. However I agree we need signings but if this joker thinks we are going to spend nearly 30 million he is deluded! And Heaney and owen....Jesus man we have 25 man squad, we have no room for these two waste of space! Sort it out

Agree5 Disagree0

We will not be getting Owen as he has showed keen interest in West Ham and Sunderland. and Heskey is S***. All the others i agree with

Agree2 Disagree1

Please stop posting rubbish just to pass the time. We have a very well run club and wouldn't 'panic buy' after one game. We do need to strengthen but Heskey, really? that would weaken the side. Additionally, Lanbert hasn't lost form , he was barely given the ball on Saturday. You can't score without supply.

Agree1 Disagree0

Biggest load of horse Man Utd since Sampson cleaned the stables!

Firstly, Adkins and Cortese do not panic. They know what they are doing and have matters well under control. It is our younger, inexperienced supporters who may panic and draw up such stupid lists.

Secondly, perhaps you could enighten us as to when Lambert last had a "hot" pre-season??
With his style of play he will always hold back in pre-season, to avoid injuries, but will look a different player once it becomes "real". He always has, and won't change to let you sleep at night.

Finally, when you scoured the press to draw up your list did you actually realise you were spending £18.5m on three RMs? WHY?

Back to Fantasy Football for you, I would suggest.

Why is it that some people spend their time posting such tripe? I realise rumours out of Saints are very difficult to pin down, but such fantasies are just a waste of time posting as no supporter would believe a word of it.

The person that has written this is a complete "Space Monkey" we are lead by quality management to reactionaries. NA and NC will be completely on top of their game. We will see new personnel but not jump around signing all kinds of people, that is not the Southampton way. There will be no panic...!!

Agree2 Disagree1

How many times, we are not going to sign Michael Owen!

Agree2 Disagree0

Lens 7.5 million
Shawcross 6.5 million
Butland 8 million

only ones that i would like to see. but then again hardly believeable

Agree3 Disagree1

Heskey: No
Owen:No
Ogbonna: No
Matt Phillips: Maybe
Butland: still a chance I guess
Shawcross: very, very unlikely
Lens: possible
Zaha: maybe
Bartley: no
Coquelin: no

I think that sums it up well, Adkins isn't worried about Lambert at all, and I can almost guarantee their was no panic in the dressing room!

Yes please to Ogbonna!! He's class and will be Italy's best CB in the next 5 years, you watch!

Agree4 Disagree3

Some people really do live in fantasy land, the fact that NC was in the far east last week trying to raise some investment in the club will surely tell you that the Liebher gravy train has run out. They invested 30 million from the 5 year plan budget, this is on top of the 20 million plus they used to purchase the club and this money is all gone, credit to the Liebher family for converting the debt into share options but we have to get real. We cannot afford to 5-7 million on players plus their contracts without getting back into serious debt and we all know where that got us last time. I think Saints fans are in for a long hard season with survival are only realistic aim

Agree4 Disagree5

This last post about "money is all gone" seems to be typical of the doom merchants out there.
I don't think there is any evidence of this whatsoever. If NC is looking to bring in other investors it does not mean our current owners are wanting out, or pulling the plug. It could be that Saints plans going forward are such that it would make more sense to our current owners to have an extra financial source to go alongside theirs, because it is only to be expected their interest may not be as deep rooted as that of Marcus, and they see that moving forwards to European competition is a whole new ball game.

How do you think the investment at Staplewood stacks with your doom tidings, and what about "selling" the club to new players? Don't you think they ask about such things before they sign a contract?
I don't think any realistic supporter expects our current owners and management to do a Man. City, and most of us would not want such a club. My view is that Cortese is a very astute businessman planning for the future, and I don't believe there is any cause for your concerns.

Saint Martin {Ed003's Note - SM your point about the training ground,the Prem league will pay up to half off any investment up to an amount of £5m for improvements for youth/academy facilities so I think this grant/payment is rightfully being used,just thought I'd mention it lol}

Agree4 Disagree2

Ogbonna is a very strong CB would be a great signing

Agree3 Disagree2

The most worthy part about this initial post, is that I found out if you type in Man Utd it comes up as Man. Utd!

Very appropriate.

Hope that they remember to bring a change of kit when we play them at home next. Their older staff will not forget the terrible pasting they got at the Dell, and had to change their kit at half time because they complained they could not see their team mates!

I seem to remember it still ended at 6-2! Always did think they had to change their kit because their shorts were full of Man. Utd!

Saint Martin {Ed001's Note - ah we had to do that because people were posting about it trying to be offensive, as it refers to a line of a song about Munich that sick rival fans used to sing.}

Agree2 Disagree2

Ogbonna would be a great signing - Got a call up for the Italian National Side while playing in Serie B. But something tells me that this rumour has been made up by someone playing a bit too much FIFA...

Agree1 Disagree1

Your wrong. The change of shirt at half time match was 3-1 win to saints it was the following season saints bet them big time and infact the score was 6-3.

Have heard there will be a new cab in the next 2 days. Shaw Ross is the name bandied about. Also talk of a right winger, the names mentioned are zaha and Walcott - not sure of this myself though as zaha has an attitude problem and I just don't see Walcott coming back. You never know I guess

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I'd imagine the most likely people to fill the wing spot would be lens. Doubt Zaha and Walcott coming to St Mary's. Granted used to think Zaha would happen but I just doubt it now.

Agree2 Disagree1

See today's echo even Francis Benali is getting twitchy

Agree3 Disagree1

What is a cab? Other than another name for a taxi??

Agree2 Disagree0

So much talk of Scott dann, I'm just not sure if that's what we're after! Im hoping for a young talent from abroad!

Agree1 Disagree1

I'm hoping for good solid centre backs. Wherever they come from. I think one of them needs a bit of experience under their belt at least.

Agree1 Disagree0

I watched an interview with walcott was tubes on soccer am and walcott did say he would never rule out coming back to saints so you never know.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry guys, been away since i posted this. I think most of you figured this out but cab was meant to be CB!

I think we can expect one signing, possibly 2 by the weekend. I know their was an interest in Shawcross but I was expecting this to have developed further and have not heard of any progression so now not sure. Gone VERY quiet with regards to a winger - make of that what you will. Fingers crossed that something will happen soon!
