Looks like Adkins time is now definitely numbered. The club are conscious that the fans still support Adkins but there is belief that the squad is underperforming under him.

Saints want to give a new manager time in January to re-shape the squad accordingly, so expect Adkins to be given his marching orders in December. Plenty to indicate that Adkins will go, even if performances improve.

Saints want a manager who will work within transfer constraints - that means Redknapp is definitely not a contender. Sources report that no one wants 'Arry back any time soon.

Saints might go for a manager to steady the ship until the end of the season, then reassess during the summer

What a load of tripe!

Ther is nothing to indicate NA will go apart from sad "moles" who emerge from their holes onto our site, or journalists trying to create a total unfounded story.

Agree12 Disagree3

Absolute rubbish. The club has arguably over-performed under Adkins in the past two seasons given our meteoric rise. Further, the point about NC wanting a manager who will navigate the transfer market within the constraints set by the club, this is absolute tripe! Every man and his dog knows that it's cortese who holds the purse strings and who has dictated transfers to date.

Adkins will stay until after January when we bolster our defence. If results don't improve after that, then he may depart.

Aussie Saint

Have to say - I agree - Adkins will be gone by January.
It might be unpopular with the fans but when have fans ever been right about things?

Agree3 Disagree10

I really shouldn't drink coffee while reading these... Adkins is not likely to go at all. And what transfer constraints are you talking about? Southampton have plenty of funds available to spend. They don't even need much of a spend come January. As long as they get the Centre backs they need we should be fine. Maybe a full back cover but it is not exactly going to cost a bomb to turn a very good attacking side around. Especially when you take into account the defence hasn't been that terrible in the last 2 games. Signs are there it's improving under Adkins.
Advice for the original poster: Go onto the Reading forums and post something about Brian McDermott being sacked. At least there would be a reason for that given the difference of opinion on transfers he has with his Chairman. Alternatively, get a life.

Agree6 Disagree2

So you are saying the board know NA is getting the sack no matter what results he gets, however they are going to leave it a month? Logical mate...

Agree10 Disagree1

The original poster makes perfect sense: the Board might well have decided that its time for Adkins to go, irrespective of what results he might claw together in the next couple of weeks.

Also makes perfect sense that a new manager would be given time to change things around in January.

Also makes sense that the constraints are that the manager has to work within C's requirements.

What some of the responders above are missing is that they might DISAGREE with the rumour, even though the rumour is logical enough.

Personally, I think its plausible but unlikely - Adkins deserve the chance but that doesnt mean the Board agree.

Interesting rumour, worthy of posting - thanks

Interesting poster??

Rubbish-there are an increasing number of posts on here which are not from Saints supporters at all but from sad "persons" who don't have a team to support and take delight in winding us up.

There is NO indication that Adkins will be sacked, walk or levitate during the next home match (surprised that one has not been posted!)

Don't be so gullible, and they may disappear into a dark corner and bother someone else.

Agree6 Disagree1

Hello Plenty!

If you want to post wind up posts on here-fine! But you really need to spend more time on your English homework and stop repeating the same phrases, like "plenty of evidence" or "plenty to indicate" as it tends to show the same "person" posting negative comments about Saints.

WHAT A SAD LOSER!

Agree3 Disagree1

I reckon the 'Poster' must be a trainee sports journalist with the Daily Mail......training him to make up any garbage

Agree2 Disagree1

Could also be from that other fountain of all knowledge LOL, the Echo!

Sebastien Squillaci is still on Saints' radar as they look to bolster the defence. The defender is out of favour at Arsenal and is open to a move.

Arsenal still owe money for Oxlade-Chamberlain and would be interested in waiving 2 or 3 months installments in exchange for getting Squillaci off their wage bill

Believable2 Unbelievable9

A defender who is not good enough for Arsenals rubbish defence?

Not going to happen.

Agree6 Disagree2

Please don't let this be true. Why on earth would be sign a 32 year old journeyman? Would be a shocking waste of money.

Agree4 Disagree1

This exact rumour in these exact words has already been posted on this exact site. Not going to happen.

Agree3 Disagree1

Almost certain to happen. Plenty of evidence that Squillaci is a Saints' target

Agree1 Disagree6

What a joke. He's awful and even we have better.

Agree2 Disagree4

I've said this on here before we're not interested in squillaci we're interested in dawson from spurs

Agree1 Disagree0

Would be a good signing, perhaps on loan?

We need to be realistic. Even if he isnt good enough for Arsenal, he might be good enough for us at the bottom of the league

Agree1 Disagree1

It's a wind up! Don't react to this sort of nonsense.

Danny Butterfield is looking like e could be on the way to Bournemouth in the near future.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Good luck to him if he does. He's served us well and deserves to move on to another club for first team football.
