Anybody know if there is any substance to the rumour about the Liebherr Trust wanting to sell Southampton? It's on the main rumours page and I'm wondering if anyone can source this in any way?

Sadly there is there disbute with NC and them seeming to fall out as he wanst us to spend big and they don't want to it has ked them maybe selling the club to richer owners who will agree with NC's plans

This was always on the cards after mr liebherr passed away, the view, as far as I knew, was they were looking at a 'five year plan' to get us back in the premiership and then look for a suitable buyer. The idea was for ML to save the club and make some money in the process after us being promoted. But it seems this may have changed a few times since. My understanding is that the sons of marcus wants to sell but his daughter as yet doesn't, and all have to agree.

Agree2 Disagree6

They have said they would accept the right offer, but didn't say they wanted to sell the club.

Agree2 Disagree2

After all the talk of the Champion's League and mega investment, we now discover the Leiberr children don't actually want to invest any more money into the club. I do, however, think Cortese will attempt to find another buyer before seriously considering leaving.

Agree1 Disagree5

Was there not a back up investor Cortese had lined up for a situation like this though? I heard something about a European Bio-fuel giant which could buy us out if the Leibherr family wanted out.

Defender Victor Ruiz to Southampton for between €8 - €9 million is doing the rounds in Valencia today. Ruiz played for Pochettino at Espanol as a youngster.

Source: I live here and everyone keeps on telling me he's rubbish.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Why would them telling you he's rubbish mean he was joining us?

By the way for those who don't know the translation in currency, 8 million Euros is around 6.8 million Pounds and 9 million Euros is around 7.6 million Pounds.

Agree0 Disagree2

No, first they told me he was joining Southampton - then they smugly told me he was rubbish.

To be fair they did say he had a good first season (2011/12), but has been disappointing this year.

Agree0 Disagree2

Victor ruiz is actually a really good and young centre half. Valencia fans will say he's rubbish cause he's leaving there clud. Just like these united fans who are now saying rooneys rubbish even though they have sung his name for nearly a decade.

Agree3 Disagree1

Thank you for clearing that up. I personally thought he was quite good in the few games they've showed for Valencia on tv I've actually watched this season. Seems to be one of the La Liga defenders capable of putting in tackles.

Agree1 Disagree1

But rooney is rubbish

Agree10 Disagree2

We wouldn't say no to him though

Agree2 Disagree4

Could be rubbish because he doesn't like playing for that team! Might step it up with a new challenge in the prem!

Agree2 Disagree1

Rooney will go to Germany or Spain

Alright everyone :) heard a Rumour today about Southampton Apparently planning an offer in the region of 8 million for Jermaine Lens of PSV, I know its been said before but I personally hope its true due to the fact he has pace which we don't have at the moment in the team and I believe I have heard he is wanting to leave.

Also heard that Aleksandar Dragovic is keen on signing for the saints :)

Believable5 Unbelievable3

£8million for Lens? Bit of a risk spending that much on him isn't it?

Agree5 Disagree6

Lens is a very good player and has before admitted that he wants a move to the premier league and saints. Would be a good signing. Him or Sinclair tho?

Mini-Saint

Agree2 Disagree1

Think the fee and the player was all but sorted in January but couldn't happen before the window closed. So, it makes sense for a rumour but not sure he will be what MP prefers.

Saint Martin

Agree2 Disagree1

Don't get all the hype for Sinclair. Puncheon's much better and struggling to get in 1st 11

southampton set two bid for arsenals u21 star Thomas Eisfeld. a Manchester United fan told me this so.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

Ha, it would be nice to steal some of their talent for a change! Doubt it will happen though.

Lenny

Agree4 Disagree0

If he's in arsenals youth system it means he's not good enough to be in ours, so why would we buy him?

st stuie

Agree3 Disagree1

Of he's in aresenals youth system it means he's good if the rumours true the we think he's good enough for us.

Fonte and hooiveld to leave, as poch wants more stability in defence and wants to try yoshida and forren together as the partnership for next season.

Believable2 Unbelievable17

Only hoovield will go I belive because we are only really getting linked with left footed centre backs so unless forren goes which I doubt it will be

Yoshida/Fonte right
New signing/Forren left

Stephens coming through aswell so that's are defensive setup looking pretty strong hope the Ruiz rumour is true

It is already speculated that Seabourne and Martin are going. If these 2 go as well that would leave us with under 21 cover. Surley it would make more sense to keep these as back-up and bring in one more class CB.

Agree4 Disagree3

Dont think Poch is all that bothered with Forren the boy has lacked fitness and not made it on the pitch in the last 4 months. Yoshida is our most consistant defender. he likes Hooiveld but god know why the rest of us think he's a donkey & Fonte has been over looked so some strange reason

Agree4 Disagree6

Fonte hoiveld and yoshida are all not good enough but don't expect them all to leave this summer as much I i'd like them gone.

Agree1 Disagree5

Wait wait wait. so we would sell two players so we can "try" a different pairing? What stops him "trying" the pairing in pre season and next season. no need to sell adequate back up/competition for places

Agree3 Disagree1

Yoshida has been consistently good. Not top of the league standard but has made several crucial tackles and has still got more experience to gain too at his age. I think he would easily be worth keeping. Fonte is a good back up defender too as he has quite a good head and is nothing like as much of a clumsy. Person. As Jos Hooiveld is with an almost record breaking 3 own goals this season (although after the Sunderland game I think really it should now count as 4).

Agree5 Disagree2

Yoshida has been great?

Agree4 Disagree4

I think some need to remind themselves of how young Yoshida is. He is 4-6 years away from his prime for a CB. Already very steady.

Agree2 Disagree1

If we want to improve, we need to build on our centre backs. None of the 3 mentionned are good enough to push us into Europe. Yoshida however is a decent back up.

Agree0 Disagree3

Jos, sadly agreed as I think he can be a liability but Fonte! He should defo stay

Few going about on a social network site;

Moreno - Espanyol CB
Jese - Real Madrid Winger (Loan)
Remy - Bid
Torje - Granada - Romanian Winger

Former Spain LB Capdevila joining coaching staff.

Not sure if true, just something I've seen.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Remy would be a good signing. I expect the wages would be high though.
