Danny Welbeck to sign on a loan for the rest of the season with a clause stating Saints can make the deal permanent for 8m in the Summer if they stay up.
Believable9
Unbelievable24
I think we'd have more chance at signing Javier Hernandez than Danny Welbeck as Fergie seems to rate him over the Mexican. So this is some wishful thinking for us!
Agree14
Disagree6
Rubbish. No way would they sell Wellbeck.
Agree13
Disagree3
1) Danny Welbeck is getting playing opportunities at Manchester United like his game against Liverpool where he impressed, Ferguson has no reason to let him go out on loan.
2) Welbeck is full of himself and wouldn't go to a club outside of Europe let alone in the Bottom half of the league.
3) His wages are ridiculous, I mean yes we can afford them now but seriously, why bother?
Agree12
Disagree2
Very possible
Agree5
Disagree9
*impossible, not happening, no way. Silly rumour
Agree11
Disagree4
Can't see a loan coming in unless it is to cover injuries-and we don't have many of those in the forward line.
Agree5
Disagree1
I'm sorry, but I'm getting annoyed at people who say rumours are "ridiculous" and that "saints don't do loans".
1) Jos was a loan which turned permanent, and he was by far our best defender last season
2) We haven't secured survival so this kind of deal would be wise so that we don't shed out a load of money now, instead waiting for the summer when we have secured survival and can build up the squad
3) We do need another proven goalscorer of PL standard, which he is
4) Fergie is favouring Hernandez over Welbeck, it's him that's being brought on as a sub in the second half, not Welbeck
5) Welbeck needs some more PL first team football to remain in the England squad
I'm not saying this deal will happen, but it would be great for the club if it did!
Agree5
Disagree5
Sorry you are annoyed-but on this one I think (and others do) that you are wrong!
Otherwise-why Rodriguez??
Agree6
Disagree1
1)Fergie will want 4 strikers
2)He signed a 5 year deal recently which is likely to be huge wages
3)We don't need another striker
4)IF he does move out on loan it would be to Sunderland or someone up North
5) Its never going to happen
Agree4
Disagree2
Rodriguez is yet to prove his worth IMO. He has a bit of pace but he has to work on his strength.
Too easily knocked off the ball given he's 6 ft 2.
Agree8
Disagree5
Rodriguez is not the answer to saints future!!
Agree6
Disagree8
Sorry, don't agree with your opinion. Rodriguez and Lambert looking a potent combination, with more to come if they play together regularly.
Man you going for the title, Champions League etc., etc-they will not loan out players like Welbeck.
Agree5
Disagree0
Rodriguez gets better every time I see him, and bearing in mind he is regularly played out wide rather than his prefered central position, where he was great for Burnley. I think he could be a massive part of out season. As for Wellbeck, not a chance in hell!
Agree1
Disagree1
WE DO NEED A STRIKER!!! I'm sick of people saying otherwise! It won't be DW tho but long term we DO need a frontman!
Agree6
Disagree5
Have you not watched rodriges lately, he's getting better and better all the time and is definetly the future of our forwards
Agree4
Disagree2
Rodriguez has 5 goals this season, Welbeck has an amazing...1!
Welbeck is basically destined to be the next Heskey...
Agree3
Disagree1
You must watch different games to me - Rodriguez is not work 1mill let alone 6. We would be better off with Billy Sharp, at least he knows where the goals are We really need a quality striker to play up with SRL - JRod is NOT the answer.
Agree1
Disagree5
I agree. I think JRod is improving but he cost us a fortune. I want a hell of a lot more from him before I'm convinced

Hearing a offer has been made for Danny fox, also heard we have an interest in Rudy Gestede of cardiff
Chalkie

Apparently Notts Forest want Fox for about 750k. No idea who this guy of Cardiff is but with their financial state if he'd be worth anything to us they wouldn't let him go.

Hope not Gestede is terrible

Hope so Fox is a liability, Villa were all down that side after Shaw went off

Hope we haven't got an interest in gestede he's definitely not good enough for the prem

Hope not, Gestede is rubbish.

Soton aren't good enough for the prem, going down

Good enough to come back from 2-0 at half time to draw away to the European champions though. I think we will stay up and so does Gary Lineker :)

Sky sports reporting that frederik Sorensons agent has confirmed that we are interested in the Bologna CB - 20
Mini-saint
Believable12
Unbelievable1
It also sounds like the sort of player we'd go for, he's young, clearly talented and he's in a position we need.
Agree6

Its also says that his agent has confirmed to the press that Southampton have expressed an interest......so that's killed that deal then.
Agree8

Tv says we have signed, well agreed to sign, Vegard Forren from Molde FK. Anybody have any more info on him apart that he plays for Norway. Sounds ok but what do the rest of you think. If he was that good don't you think we might have heard of him?
Agree1
Disagree1
He's decent on football managere lol. He's had a lot of interest from some big clubs for a while (Liverpool, Utd) Looks a good prespect, solid. Left footer so could provide cover at left back too, 'cause fox isn't prem quality
Agree3
Disagree0
Liverpool were in for him, so obviously he's no slouch. Plus, defenders (CBs in particular) take longer to develop so he's still young relatively speaking.
And to be honest, I hadn't heard of Astori prior to the transfer window...
Aussie Saint
Agree4
Disagree0
I'd heard of him before, he was a target in the summer for a few clubs! He's gained a reputation pretty quickly due to his age and the consistency with which he's played. Got 150+ appearances as a 24 year old, at any level that's fairly decent. Played in Norwegian title-winning team too, and has 5 caps and is now considered Norway's starting 2nd CB alongside Hangeland. Position we need to cover, and Liverpool scouted him out so must be decent. At the end of the day, to be brutal he's not likely to be World Class because he'll only cost
Agree2
Disagree0
Well he has to be really quite good to attract interest from Liverpool who are incredible at the back especially with their Centre backs like Agger and Skrytle. He therefore must have a degree of quality to him.

Rumour i know, but hearing BCFC want Josh H as part of the Butland deal, if we sign Forran we could see the the Butland deal happen

I'm guessing Josh H is Jos Hooiveld?
Would still leave us a little thin on the ground for defenders

Whos josh h? hope we dont get butland

Josh H? Mean Hooiveld?

NA said he wasn't gonna sign a new keeper in this window. If he goes on and does it, he will be undermining the confidence of those already here...just saying
Agree3
Disagree5
Better business for BCFC and Saints would be Gazza as part ex
Agree5
Disagree3
Why would we want Butland? Boruc is starting to show what he can do, and if he can build on his performance at AV can't see that we need another GK in January.
Saint Martin
Agree6

If hoovield is then we must be signing astori or some top class cb aswell
Trev saint
Agree3

NA did not say he wasnt going to sign a new keeper this window.....he said that he didnt anticipate signing one, thus leaving the door open should the right one come along.
Agree4
Disagree1
By Adkins coming out and saying he didn't anticipate another keeper signing this window, it keeps confidence amongst the three we have high as it suggests he believes they're good enough. He never actually said we 100% wouldn't sign a keeper, and while you could argue it might undermine the confidence of those already here, I guarantee that if the deal was right for Butland, who's a long-term target, NA wouldn't hesitate at pushing it through and sending Gazza on loan/loaning Davis back to B'Ham as some have suggested. He's got to try and not burn all his bridges at once. If he'd said we were looking for another keeper, one of the three at least would leave, and if Adkins didn't get his man he'd look a fool.

Birmingham to leave Butland out of their squad for Leeds in the FA Cup in order to leave him not cup-tied so he can leave this window.. could that be us?
Believable3
Unbelievable1
Which Cup would that be?
Agree4

Of course not - we're not in the FA Cup.
Agree5

Wouldn't make any difference to us as we've already been knocked out!!!
Agree3
Disagree0
Surely this is an indication that he is being courted by teams still in the FAC and therefore, less likely to come to St Marys
Agree5
Disagree2
Ah yes of course.. schoolboy error!
Agree1
Disagree3
Butland is an over rated keeper. He is not particularly great between the sticks. Frankly, Gazzaniga is better.
Agree5
Disagree3
I have a feeling (as Adkins says) we won't sign another 'keeper. I think Boruc will be No'1 for remainder of this season, to then slowing hand over the gloves to Gazza the next season.

BBCs ben smith is reporting moldes vorren is now on his way to Southampton to agree terms on a mooted 3.5 mil deal, after Liverpool cancelled his trial as they told molde they were not prepared to match the bid

According to Norweigen media, Southampton and Liverpool have had a bid accepted for Molde defender Forren.
Have to be honest, I know nothing about him.
Believable6
Unbelievable0
He's 24, has played approx 150 times for Molde in 5 seasons with the club. Suggests to me he's a mature player, who isn't injury prone? To be averaging 30 appearances a season isn't bad going at 24 for a centre back! He's been capped 5 times for Norway, and now starts alongside Hangeland for them. On a week long trial at Liverpool, who as far as I know haven't put a bid in, whereas we have put together a concrete bid straight off the bat to try and poach him. Would suggest to me that Astori may be a no-go, but here's to hoping both are on the cards. This lad seems a good player.
Agree6
Disagree0
Unless we are looking at other players to push the astori agent into signing for us! Either way we are bolstering our defence!
Agree3

Great post mate and how more posts should be!

Likely hood is show Jos, Seabourne...eventually Jose the door and get in mid twenty yr old players with experience...straight transision
Agree2

This is a solid rumour, i have heard that molde has accepted our bid for him and that he is to undergo a medical in the next few days as he feels southampton is a better deal for him due to the ability to play first team football whereas at liverpool he would inevitably be behind agger and skrtl.

Skysports just put this up on their site. Apparently his trial at Liverpool has been cancelled to have talks with our club.

BBC reporting our £3.5m bid for Vegard Forren has been accepted by Molde. Solid, reliable player who has only missed a total of 6 league games in last 4 season.
If it comes through sounds like yet another good piece of business by NC/NA.
Agree2

He's having a trial with Liverpool having initially turned that option with them down. Everton also interested but need to raise funds.
Agree0

Southampton are close to signing Norway defender Vegard Forren after the 24-year-old pulled out of a week's trial with Liverpool.
The Molde player had been expected to arrive on Merseyside on Tuesday after Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers invited him for a trial this week.
However, Southampton have now had a £3.5m offer accepted for Forren, who has since travelled to the south coast.
Everton had previously been interested in the defender, only for that to cool.
Liverpool had been reluctant to bid for Forren until they had seen him train with the first-team squad.
Rodgers remains keen on signing a centre-back during the transfer window and is likely to allow Sebastian Coates to go out on loan if he is successful.

Sounds a bit like the Yoshida purchase. Probably wont go for much more than £3 million, so could be quite an astute buy. No reason to think Astori won't happen as well!

He was going to Liverpool to start a week long trial there today as Liverpool wanted to see him in action before they buy but we have went in with a 3.5m - 4m offer and looked to have bagged him. Solskjaer has confirmed this with the BBC and Sky Sports also confirming this.
Agree2

I read somewhere that Everton had been scouting him for a while, but decided against making a bid as he was painfully slow and were worried that he would be exposed in the premier league.
Agree0

Yes, that's after they realised they couldn't afford him! What a surprise.

Ed or anyone else actually heard anything solid for Southampton since the Astori deal went quiet? Getting quite worrying with so little seeming to be happening. {Ed001's Note - not a thing, sorry mate. Going quiet means nothing though, the Ramirez signing went quiet at one point.}
