Ive heard from a journalist friend of mine that the Liebherr Trust have no intention of selling the Club. They are unanimous that major decisions on running the Club need to be decided by more than just Cortese. (Thats called a Dictatorship!) This is why Cortese has the hump. There is a narural 'holiday' break in his contract this summer (hence no decision from Cortese until contract runs out) which is why he would recieve very little pay-off.
If he left, the Liebherr Trust would simply replace him with another Chairman who takes the Club forward.
For me, this could be the best outcome. Cortese out and we retain the backing of the Liebherr's.

Sorry Davey Boy, don't agree with your post. losing Cortese would be a big loss. It was NC and Markus who were the driving forces behind the project to save and develop Saints. NC has continued this project with the same passion as when Markus was alive and whilst I would accept he has irritated some people along the way, he has been extremely successful in achieving the targets they set.
Sorry, I have doubts as to whether the Trust has the same determination that NC has and I believe him leaving could signal an acceptance of survival in the EPL rather than higher ambitions.
I hope NC does stay and continues to upset a few more people, because there are plenty still in and around the world of football who need upsetting.

Forgive me when I say you made that up.

Lenny

Agree3 Disagree5

I have heard the same as Davey Boy

Agree5 Disagree3

Lenny, he may well have a journalist friend in which case the source of the nonsense could be him rather than the initial poster.

Agree4 Disagree0

Davey Boy Cortese is arguably the best thing to happen to this club under the Liebherr era.

He has transformed the way the club is run from the roots up and has planned for the long term future of Saints.

Anyone can have a wealthy backer, but knowing what to do with that wealth is the key (e. g. QPR). It is vital that Cortese stays at the helm, I'd rather keep him and get a new financier. Money without brains is totally worthless to us.

Agree10 Disagree0

Look where having a board got us before. If it's not broken don't fix it.

Agree3 Disagree1

I personally think if the Liebherr trust was to sell NC wouldn't let us go to someone with less money than we already have and would also have a plan in place to stop his hard work and dedication going to waste while at the same time still being able to see his vision for this club finished and still be the clubs chairman in years to come. NC was the one who got ML to buy the club, he sees the potential we have as a club. one of the best academy's around, great stadium, great training ground we have everything going for us so I don't think NC would sell us to someone who would sell us to someone who will put less money into the club than we have now. but I doubt very much we would be sold anyway, trust NC will still be the chairman of our club and we will get money this next season

Agree1 Disagree0

Could be worse, could have ken bates as our chairman

Agree2 Disagree0

Or peter risdale

Agree1 Disagree0

Liebherrs are not really worried about the money. We are now in a league where we have passed go and collected (lets be conservative) 90 million pounds.
They bought us for under 30 million if we stay up again 13/14 season we collect another 90 million there is no need for me to do any more maths or figures. They would, even if they wanted to be quite mad to sell us now unless it was to someone with Sheiek at the start of their name where money does not matter.

Ed there's talk of some ecadourian centre half Man U looked at around Christmas time being linked with Saints. you heard anything? {Ed001's Note - I asked the United ed but neither of us can think of an Ecuadorian linked with United then, , sorry.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I assume you are talking about Frickson Erazo as it was in the Daily Fail so that's prob a non starter then, was re reported by Football FanCast today, was linked with Manchester United supposedly at some stage in the past ( shame on you Eds lol ) {Ed001's Note - never heard of him sorry. }

Agree3 Disagree1

Yeah they were linked to him in the papers. His nickname is Erazo. All you have to do is search his name and links come up to the supposed Man U interest. Not exactly difficult. {Ed001's Note - I don't read papers or google links. I go on what I am told from people within the game, which leaves random links made up by the papers out of my sphere of knowledge.}

Agree1 Disagree1

It's Ecuador defender Frickson Erazo from Barcelona Sporting Club.

He was 'monitored closely' by Manchester United ealier this year.

Lenny

Agree2 Disagree1

Daily Mail - Southampton have made a £2.5 million bid for defender Frickson Erazo of Ecuadorean side Barcelona SC.

Agree2 Disagree1

Ed001 surely all information should be gathered and utilised for an informed decision as many people inside the game seem to be as clueless as the rest of us lol {Ed001's Note - many are I agree, but newspapers aren't using anything other than make believe, in 99% of cases. Easier to not waste time sifting through the bull for that 1% of truth.}

Hectore Moreno a 24 four year old Centre Back, from Espanyol is said to be in advanced talks with the Saints. Pochettino is said to off demanded him, after he was Espanyol's player of the season in 2012. Fee set at around 6 million Euros.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Wouldnt mind having moreno at saints and for only 6 million euros is great but really its going to be either him or ruiz take either really

Trev saint

Agree2 Disagree1

I hope so--I like this kid from watching the Mexico national team. I've never seen him in club play, though.

Agree1 Disagree1

Have we been linked with every single Espanyol player yet? I don't know I reckon we've missed a few.
Saying that I wouldn't mind one bit if we did sign him, though I would question whether or not he is a considerable step up on our existing Centre Backs.

- TJ

Agree2 Disagree3

He is a lot more technical than Hooiveld, more athletic than either Fonte or Hooiveld, and stronger than Yoshida, so I think he would be an upgrade.

southampton have wasted no time at all testing the water over spanish pair ivan ramis and adrian lopez, both also centre halves wich are much needed, would like to see ramis not sure about lopez

st stuie

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Adrian lopez is a forward.

Agree14 Disagree2

Wow, award for most uninformed post of the year goes too.

Agree10 Disagree1

I still don't think this post would win that award frankly.

Agree3 Disagree3

1 lopez is striker 2 I think i'd rather have victor ruiz than ivan ramis as he's younger and better

Trev saint

Agree1 Disagree1

We talking Ramis from Wigan?

Agree1 Disagree1

Ramis has had a good first season with Wigan. He didn't play much because he was injured
