Tottenham are now supposedly interested in Lamela. Does anyone know if Saints still are or ever were?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Well the interest was apparent from Southampton and it appeared as though we had made a serious approach to find out about his availability. Whether or not we have followed up on this is unclear as is whether or not he is interested in Southampton. But you would have to imagine that with the way Cortese and Pochettino want the deals done we'd be nearer to a solution by now. I think if we are to sign him it'll happen in the next week or so otherwise it'll be more likely we'll have to find other options which we may already have done.

Agree5 Disagree1

There certainly was serious interest from Saints. The main problem is the multiple ownership issue, which has caused many big clubs such as Man City to walk away. If anyone can pull it off Cortese can.

Agree3 Disagree1

I suspect because of the multiple ownership any deal would take a long time to complete. If he moves to any EPL side I don't see it being announced very early.

They are asking 35 Million Euros for Lamela

Ouch. 35m is huge.

Davide Astori is to Sign for Southampton football club when he returns from brazil. Fee thought to be around 12.5 million. Perfect source! You heard it here first.

Believable12 Unbelievable14

£12.5million! If we are signing Astori for that kind of money then surely Hooiveld and Fonte have to go for some pretty decent fees themselves.

Agree6 Disagree7

What is this "perfect source" because after signing Lovren I don't think that another centre back is our priority. Obviously there will be some fans that will have their own opinions but I think that that we need a clinical finisher to take the pressure off Lambert.

(hopefully Rodriguez and Mayuka can step up next season as well)

I think that we need a winger with pace and skill (a nice cross aw well would be nice) to supple the ball to our strikers.

Cover for rb is needed as well. (Even though Cork done an amazing job there when needed).

Finally a good goalkeeper as well as Boruc is good but not amazing (his handling is quite poor to be honest) and if he gets injured then we don't really have a good goalkeeper to be back up.

Agree10 Disagree3

Jose and Jos are only worth between 2/3 million. Championship yes. Premier league No! Davide is something else. I'm afraid that Jose and jos don't come close to him, completely different league my friend! Expect to see Forren lovren and Astori next season!

Agree7 Disagree4

Can't see us spending £20m on two centre backs when we also have Yoshida and Forren who are both more than capable

Agree5 Disagree3

Sounds about the right fee. He nearly went for just under £12m recently.

However not sure we need another CB with Yoshida doing well, Forren supposedly stepping up for next season and Lovren signing. Would definitely have to be selling Hooiveld and Fonte if we are bringing Astori in. Got a feeling it was either Lovren or Astori, and we went with Lovren.

Agree6 Disagree2

Can't see it after Lovren tbh, think we've got more pressing matters that need sorting up top

Agree3 Disagree2

How can people be saying that Forren is more than capable when he hasn't played a minute for us, if he was more than capable he would've at least got a game in half a season.

I hope I'll eat my words, but he's clearly not the player we thought we brought.

Agree7 Disagree4

Totally agree with the post above, all this forren talk but he hasn't produced, poor for the u21s when I watched didn't stand out, can see jack Stephens in before him.

Agree2 Disagree5

In my view the only way we will see Astori sign is if we have deals prepared to sell both Fonte and Hooiveld with plenty of money coming in. I'd have to expect at least £3million between them to limit the hole that would otherwise be produced from signing Astori as well as Lovren.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ok then astori would be a great signing better than the others we have bar lovren and if jose and jos go the that's 3 cbs and we need at least 4 baring in mind injuries

Agree1 Disagree0

Apparently Forren has told Norwegian media that he was signed for next season. He's a quality player, shown by his international experience, and the only reason he didn't play more is because we hit a good run of form where Hooiveld actually played quite well, stopping Forren from coming in.

Agree4 Disagree0

As above poster states. Forren was signed on the agreement he could have a break (having played Norwegian season) and would only come into the team if we suffered injury crisis. Too early to judge him one way or the other!

Agree3 Disagree0

Reports in the Italian press state that Gagliary Chairman has said that other than their keeper no players will be allowed to leave.

Astori has been chased by Cortese, but Napoli have also been having chasing him. Nainggolan has also been chased by Inter and Juve.
He went on to say that should he sell the likes of Nainggolan and Astori he risks being relegated.

Of course this could well be tactics to push up the price.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with saints fan 25 on this topic. Yes astori would be nice if the others are going. But. I want goals. I want a winger who is going to produce week after week rather than sporadically. I want another clinical finisher to back up Rickie. Someone with a bit of strength and the intelligence off the ball Rickie has. basically another Rickie would be super.

Apparently we are going for Miroslav Stoch. He plays for Fenerbahçe in the Turkish league.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Stoch would seem a good call, he's young and wants to leave, he has bags of talent

Agree4 Disagree2

38 games, 0 Goals, 4 Assists?

Agree3 Disagree5

I can't see him as our first choice. He did ok season before, but hardly any assists.
Maybe a back up/cheap option in case we don't sign Bueno?

JWP to be loaned out to a championship side, most likely Middlesborough or Wigan.

Also near signing two youth players, Peter Batten and Aidan Kelly.

GiantLlamaSlayer82

Believable4 Unbelievable23

He is going to Brighton - also heard we are signing boyce for back up at right back

Agree0 Disagree13

JWP's staying for next season as he looks for more first-team action
