Celtic fan in peace:
Not that we want to loose Van dyke, but this guy is class. Any, and I do mean any bid under £10m is a bargain.

good luck with Koeman, and next season.

Believable24 Unbelievable0

Yeah he looks the business for his age and what better coach for him than koeman, such a shame Celtic can't get into the premier leauge be good for all I reckon

Agree7 Disagree7

It's nice when we get a fan of another club coming in with a good natured comment like this. Thank you cprs1.

He does look quite a talented young lad, probably would develop well under Koeman who has a reputation for helping players achieve their potential. I have to say I don't know enough about Van Dijk myself to comment on an appropriate valuation of him so I will take your word for it under £10million being a bargain.

I feel as though wishing you luck in the SPL is unnecessary as next season it's almost considered a certainty you will retain the title. But I will wish you luck in Europe as that's a challenge for all clubs taking part.

Agree9 Disagree1

Anyone heard any news on any players signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope we get him

Just seen an aparent leak of opening day fixtures if it's true we have man city away!spuds got Leicester at home

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Man City away on the opening day of the season following them winning the league title on the last day of the previous one? Sound familiar to anyone?

Agree5 Disagree0

Yeah I no don't shoot the messenger though I'm just putting it out there not saying it's gospel intresting Liverpool vs arsenal though tux get bloody villa!

Agree0 Disagree1

Saints jimmy are you generally saying that 50 million is the standard transfer budget plus then on top any sells will be fully re-invested? I am not sure that's what I am hearing but I will more then happy to be very very wrong!

Agree3 Disagree0

I wasn't criticising you Smirky, I was merely pointing out the coincidence this would be if it were the case we faced Manchester City away on the opening day of the season again.

Agree2 Disagree1

Yeah it's our sort of luck get the champions again though ain't it :)

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't the teams promoted normally play the top 3? I'm sure it's something like that.

Agree0 Disagree1

I thought it was randomly generated?any ideas ed?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed029's Note - It's random.

Have seen it knocking around FB. Some are saying its fake. Actually I would like city away first game

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah first game is prob one of the better time to play go after em early

Agree2 Disagree0

Just a little off in the end, last game not first. So it's 2 seasons in a row we face the defending champions on the final day.

BBC suggesting koeman is interested in bringing lex immers, pelle, and djike.
What's interesting is immers signed a new contract in May, keeping him at the club until 2017. This leads me to question the reliability of the source, and wonder if pelle and djike are also the result of lazy journalism.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I think due to some strange technicality he didn't officially sign for Feyenoord until May this year due to some agency fee his old club weren't willing to pay? The contract doesn't necessarily mean he won't move on this summer. Although I do think these are just links based on Koeman being the new boss rather than solid sources.

Agree5 Disagree0

Lallana is contracted til 2018. Hasn't stopped the vultures. media and big clubs alike.

Agree11 Disagree0

Agreed Kent, although they will have to pay a lot of money because of this. I can't see us paying ridiculous money for somebody just because they have a lengthy contract. In fact, some media reports suggest we are putting off potential suitors due to our high valuation. I would think we would be more willing to sell if our prized assetts were into their last 2 years of their contract

Agree4 Disagree1

I'm not sure about Immers as he's quite old and prefer someone younger and Pelle although is a good player is a bit of trouble maker

Question for any of the Eds if you are around and willing/able to help.

Have we put in a bid or even expressed interest in Lukaku?

I have heard that Chelsea want to sell him, not loan him out again, and a source (which I consider unreliable) has told me we have declared interest to buy him from Chelsea following Koeman's appointment. I have failed to gather any further information on this other than Chelsea being more interested in a sale than a loan.

Any note would be greatly appreciated, even more so with some good news on a potential new striker.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed021's Note - This is what an editor wrote on another page 'Whilst efforts are being made to save Lukaku's career with Chelsea after he upset the club, there is interest from a number of sides including Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, WolfsburgNewcastle, Roma and Spurs. Shakhtar, Zenit and Everton are interested but probably not options. I suspect the Borussia Dortmund interest has gone. Liverpool has shown no interest to date.'}

Ok thanks for the help Ed, very helpful as always. Hopefully the situation around Lukaku and our own striker interests will become clearer soon.

Koeman hoping to lure Jermaine lens to st Marys as a replacement for Lallana. Also Steklenberg from Fulham as competition for the keepers position with boruc. van djyk from Celtic to bolster cb options and is looking at several striking options to replace Lambert, with benfica hitman cordoza a temporary option. He is willing to give Osvaldo a second chance, fonte could move on.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Are you just summing up newspaper headlines here or is this supposed to be 'inside information'?

Not too much to support the Lens or Cordoza link as of yet, and little evidence Lallana is likely to leave given the clubs asking price being a seemingly 'non-negotiable' stance.

The rest of the rumours though have got basis to be believed from this summer, Southampton are willing to listen to offers for Fonte but are not specifically looking to sell him so a good offer would have to come in. Van Dijk and Steklenberg have clear links from Koeman (as potentially does Lens, but he was more seriously linked in previous summers with little suggestion that this summer is any more likely than last or the one before).

As for the Osvaldo rumour, we don't really know where that stands at the moment. I doubt Southampton would turn down a good offer for Osvaldo, but I can see Koeman wanting to try to re-integrate him into the side (particularly given our current lack of strike options, perhaps we will learn more about his future based on the signings made before the season starts).

You did to be fair, you've got a good source! Great news for the club

The mirror are today reporting Ronald Koeman is lining up Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk as his first signing as Southampton manager.
£8 million is the likely figure.
Liverpool target Lovren has handed in a transfer request, while stalwart Fonte revealed he will consider his options if his contract - which has one year left to run - is not extended.

22-year-old Van Dijk signed for Celtic last June in a £2.6m deal from Eredivisie club FC Groningen and scored five goals in 45 appearances for the Scottish champions.

Koeman is a long-term admirer of Holland Under-21 star Van Dijk after he netted in both fixtures against his Feyenoord side in 2012.

Mauricio Pochettino's replacement has been promised he will have a sizeable transfer kitty to rebuild the team.

Saints owner Katharina Liebherr is willing to reinvest the revenue generated by the sale of England forward Rickie Lambert to Liverpool and the expected summer transfers of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.

anyone know if this player is any good? our last signing from celtic for big money hasn't really been successful (wanyama)

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Meant to have great potential as is he is still very young but he looks to be very good on the ball and enjoys going forward and not shy of a shot or 2

Agree4 Disagree0

Wanyama's been quality, he's not in the team to pretty stuff, he's there to get in the way and break stuff up, people who don't realise that think he's been terrible, people who do think he's been great.

Van Dijk looks great too, similar to Caulker but better

50 mil + player sales is what we offered poch, can't see it being different for Koeman

Agree13 Disagree2

Being a tabloid newspaper take this story with a pinch of salt, they still seem keen to say we are definitely losing many key players this summer.

This story isn't so much them telling us we could be getting Van Dijk as telling everyone again they think our key players will leave. Van Dijk is just their idea of one of the possible replacements.

Van Dijk has got an obvious link to us being young and Dutch and having a history against Koeman. They have just put 2 and 2 together I think, we could be interested for real but I imagine the mirror would be none the wiser.

Apparantly Chelsea and Man U are looking at other LB options such as Georgi Schennikov and Daley Blind respectively as they both represent cheaper alternatives to Shaw, hope it's true, is their any truth in this Eds? Or is it just more paper talk?

Believable9 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - they are looking at a number of left backs mate, it would be easier to say who they aren't interested in! Both are put off by the price, hence why United gave Evra another year.}

And Liverpool looking to sign caulker instead of lovren

Agree12 Disagree2

Okay cool cheers eds, if they are put off by the price and we end up keeping him amongst others then the board have done a very good job IMO
