Regarding Davide Astori, Southampton have had a bid Accepted, Personal terms are in principal agreed ( same as Ramierz) just like the Ramierz saga waiting for payment scheme to be sorted and get the player over for the medical, wouldn't expect any announcement until after the Everton game

Unbelievable4
I hope you're right.

I wouldn't expect any announcement until deadline day if we get him at all.
Agree3
Disagree1
Last I heard on Astori was that Napoli had had a bid of 9.5M Euros (0.5M less than the Saints bid) rejected.
Considering his club are after £12M we are currently £4M short on his club valuation...
I can't see us increasing our bid by 50%
Agree3
Disagree0
I could be wrong, but I doubt we will sign both Forren and Astori. Especially, seeing as we look to be keen on signing another attacking midfielder. Steven Davis has been rubbish so someone better than him would be great.

I think they'd settle at £10M but I am obviously not the authority on that sort of thing. Frustratingly this will be a 'wait and see' deal again. As most of them are with our club.
Agree3
Disagree1
Davis has one bad game and suddenly he's rubbish? Give the guy a break. I agree with your premise though that we should look for an attacking mid. But really I think it would not be a mistake to take Forren and Astori. Two very good Centre backs who would dramatically help our back 4. Then we could take another winger/attacking mid as well. Think our budget would probably allow for 3 signings of good quality to happen this month.
Agree5
Disagree1
We are not going to spunk £10m up the wall for a player whose only youtube video shows him giving away a penalty and scoring an own goal against Inter - We already have Jos for this.
This deal is not happening!
Agree1
Disagree3
Give the guy a break. You mean like guly who hasn't done much all season we can't afford to have players like this in the team.
Agree2
Disagree1
I think you're all looking through rose tinted glasses if you think Davis has been anything more than average this season.
Agree1
Disagree2
Every time I have seen Davis he has been average, we need to improve on average to progress! As for Astori would be a sensational coup!
Agree1

Saints don't sign players based on their youtube video you wally. :)

Does anyone have any info on the Astori deal? Its gone completely quiet on that front?

Seems nothing has been said, no news saying it has collapsed, no news saying it's any closer to completion. Just have to wait and see I'm afraid.

Hooper to sign?? I would be surprised to see NC let him pass us by after all the chasing trying to get him last year
Might be something in this rumour
CTS {Ed007's Note - As of right now there has been no bids made for Hooper and he has told the club he will be staying until the summer.}
Believable5
Unbelievable3
I'd prefer we didn't go for Hooper.
Agree5
Disagree4
Let's go for Hooper, we all forget what happens if your star striker gets injured. We would go down for sure in Lambert got either suspended or injured. We need to survive this season and then we could really kick on from there.
Agree3
Disagree2
Great signing if it happened, however not likely because I can't see him moving until the summer
Agree1
Disagree3
We can get a better striker for cover than Hooper at a lower cost. Hooper will cost stupid amounts because Celtic value him ridiculously highly. Although in their case it's rightfully so, why should they sell him?
Agree2
Disagree1
We don't need hooper, we've already got the quality in attack, it's our cb's we need to improve, lambert, ramirez, rodriguez have the quality we need, and with quality wingers like puncheon and full backs in clyne and shaw all we need to do is sign an experienced cb.
Agree4

What has happened to Tad Lee? He showed bags of potential scored a cracking goal, did loads of publicity shots, got injured and disappeared of the face f the planet.
I put him in my fantasy team and everything. Thought he was going to be a "suprise packag"
Agree0
Disagree0
Lee has been struggling on his knee all season. He's been stuck with the Under 21s failing to make much of a major impact. It's really quite upsetting to see a kid of such talent stricken down by such a bad injury that it seems he'll never be the same again.
Agree2
Disagree0
Hooper would be a great addition, stop pretending we're to good for him, he's scoring in the champions league, he would be quality, however I'd rather build for the future and sign Charlie Austin he's on fire in the championship and could potentially be a class signing
Agree1
Disagree2
Hooper would not be a 'great' addition. Lambert scores against Champions League standard teams. He has scored against each of Manchester United and City and against Chelsea. Hooper would not be worth the sort of money he'd cost to us anyway.

Southampton look interested in the prospect of signing Louis saha on a 6 month contract for free from Sunderland. However saha will have to settle for a basic wage package with many incentives.
Believable1
Unbelievable11
Can't see this happening as he is too injury prone
Agree7
Disagree3
Past it and no where near the player he was, can you honestly say he's an improvement on what we have and let's be fair he's not even the type of player saints go for
Clarkey saint
Agree7

Incentives such as try and be fit for at least one match across 6 months? Really hope not, unfortunately he's finished and it goes completely against our transfer policy (players for the future)
Agree3

Hes 34 years old, not exactly club policy, don't see it happening.

Forren looks to sign in the next few days. It is understood that the Astori deal has all but fallen through and that NC wants to bring in another CB and Attacking midfield cover. Douglas and Kara seem to be frontrunners, with Douglas looking the more likely due to his contract being up in summer.

Why has the astori deal all but fallen through? Why are we once again seemingly leaving it to the end of the window after appearing to put all our eggs in one basket.....
Agree0

Just curious where people got the link between saints and Douglas? i'd love him at the club but seen no indication we are interested in him at all.
Clarkey saint
Agree6

Douglas agent has him linked with every Premiership club-why should Saints be an exception?
Agree1
Disagree0
Can't believe the poster who thinks we have put all our eggs in one basket - Its the january transfer window, not the summer, we are only going to sign a few players....
On top of that - we were in for Astori, forren, coutinhio and apparently Sorenson. And they are the ones we know about.... I hardly think that this is spunking all our eggs into one basket....
Also, having watched youtube. Astori looks like a replacement for Jos - Own goals and penalties against - well worth £10m imho....

Saints have enquired about Manchester city's forgotten man scott sinclair about a loan deal until the end of the season
Believable8
Unbelievable6
Would make sense, we need another winger for cover. Not sure if he'd come to us though.
- TJ
Agree2
Disagree2
Would be a good move for all parties concerned. Not in the City team, we need a winger (for backup if nothing else) and brother Jake is at the club.
I'd still be suprised if it happened having said that. We don't seem to keep to loan in players
Agree3
Disagree1
Has he not been registered for two clubes already this season (Swansea and Man City)? {Ed007's Note - Players can be registered for three clubs in one season but can only actually play for two of them.}
Agree2
Disagree0
Remember his btother is at Saints, so something could happen, but doubt it would be a loan.
Agree1
Disagree0
The only incentive I could think of him coming here is cause his younger brother is in the ranks of our academy
Agree1
Disagree0
Why would he particularly want to go to the same club as his little brother?
Is he a bit lonely
Agree1
Disagree0
I doubt the brother thing would be the pull. He could well want to come to us for first team football and to improve his long term outlook. I mean while he's not playing his career is going nowhere.
Agree0
Disagree0
He has already played for Swansea and Man City this season, think that stops him from playing for us.
Agree1
Disagree0
Good deal if it ever materialises . Plus wouldn't mind seeing more of his missus.
Agree0
Disagree0
Come on guys, the "brother thing" could be a factor-simply because he would get an insight into the club from his brother that would be more meaningful than from someone he might not have so much confidence in.
Why come out with cynical comments when you don't seem to have thought the process through? (If I was wanting to move house I would certainly find it useful to find out my brothers opinion of that house if he been living in it!) {Ed001's Note - also it is nice to know you have family around, lots of people like to live close to their families.}

Has he played for Man. City?

I know many don't agree but i would love for him to sign. has european exp ok is playing in a disneyland league but when playing in the champions league has never looked out of place would add some great qualitys. and remember we are half way through the season and so far are in line for a place in the europa league next year. in case anyone is confussed by that we are top of the fair play table which is a route to europe.
Agree4
Disagree3
This is rubbish. We are also 'on the verge' of another Saints vs Celtic rubbish debate as a result of this rubbish rumour.
Agree6
Disagree1
We are not currently qualifying for Europe via Fair play, England placed 4th (need to be in top 3). It would be random pot luck if we got in that way (to the first qualifying round of 3!).
Agree7
Disagree0
Also, 'fair play' league doesn't give automatic europe spot...go ahead and google the amount of times someones actually got a spot through fair play, you'll realise how ridiculous and un-related it is.
Agree5

LOL at the 'rubbish' post above. I understand your exasperation. Chalkie : Thank you for your post, whether it's rubbish or not, but if you hear anymore on 'he who must not be named' would you keep it to yourself, please. Good point made about Europe / fair play league which is perhaps a more relevant debate.
