Southampton after French Ligue 1 pair, Saber Khelifa and Ryad Boudebouz

I'd love Boubedouz, not sure on Khelifa, is he any good?
Agree3
Disagree1
Saying that, watching Khelifa play, he looks like a pacey and powerful striker, a good finsiher and good link up play, would be a good signing IMO and Boubedouz is also class
Agree2
Disagree2
Boudebouz is good but kalifa is crap
Agree1

I think saber is in the mould of player we would be after. Similar attributes to j rod. I'm sure they are after strikers that are quick and can play out wide. He would be back up though IMO.
Still think we will go for a commanding cf similar to Ricky, then pacy forwards with good creativity or an eye for goal.
I think a cf would be for 1st team, where as anymore wide players would be bought as back up

Apparently we are after saber khalifa. Scored 13 goals in 25 appearances including one that was from his own half. Thoughts?
Believable5
Unbelievable9
He's already signed for someone else
Agree3
Disagree6
No he hasn't signed for someone else; and at best a squad player and high risk of success in the PL. Not the top drawer striker we need.
Agree5

He hasn't signed for anyone else

Not kidding but I think he could be a good super sub he's a finisher he's got good physicality and he is quicker thanLambert so he could be useful and Boudebouz has a lot of talent and if we can get it out of him he will be bargain of the summer
Agree2
Disagree1
Has he? Can only find details of him still playing for Evan.
Here's his long range goal

Apparently we and Norwich are battling it out to try and land Fabio Quagliarella of Juventus. Norwich have already had a bid turned down as Juventus are supposedly trying to start a bidding war. What do you guys think of this?

Imagine he'd be over priced.

I haven't seen the lad play

Any good?

At 29 I would prefer slightly younger
Agree6

Yeah, at 29 he'll be far too experienced and in his prime.
Agree5
Disagree1
Yep, too old
Agree2
Disagree2
Did anyone tell robin van persie 29 was to old before he took the league apart last season? Get real guys he's a quality player and would be a great signing.
Agree5
Disagree2
First of all this has been announced in a few newspapers and is on quite a few websites so I haven't made it up, secondly, people saying he is too old is ridiculous. He is a quality player who can score goals. He is known for his amazing long shots and southampton needs someone who can score goals - you can't deny that.
Agree1

Totally agree saintsfan. Anyone here think that Ricky was too old last season? Anyone?
29 isn't young. But. If its the right player, they will have a wealth of intelligence and experience both on and off the ball. Extremely important if and I do stress IF we have the players who can get the balls in.

apparently MP is set on sighning a striker called gonzalo bergessio he's 27 and plays for catania and has played a few times for argentina, isn't exactly prolific

He is actually 29 on Saturday and record is 1 goal every 3 games, definitely not what we are looking for.

Why do the papers believe we want all Argentinian players? We haven't signed one under Poch yet. Can't see us going for this guy or for Osvaldo either.

NUMPTIES!. Some of the posts from you lot on this thread, is nothing short of behaving like pathetic spoilt kids. I don't want to see Saints supporters start to behave like Man City, unclassy so called "fans". This guy has had a brilliant season in Serie A. Not a bad league is it?. What if he turns out to be the next Michu? Which of you lot want to just throw the clubs money away, instead of making astute bargain signings? Is that REALLY the reputation we want to build for ourselves, now that we have solid financial backing?
Agree9
Disagree4
It's paper talk I wouldn't say it's happening but it does show that not all our deals are gunna big 10m+ signings
Agree3
Disagree1
Don't think we will waste money, Cortese isn't like the Man City owners, he won't blow money.
Agree6
Disagree0
I don't care if we sight him because its strength in numbers, as you say it's not a bad league and he's obviously not a bad player the reason I don't care if it falls through is because he sounds and looks the same player as lambert, and I would prefer a player that can give us something different as lamberts as good as you get so wind your neck in and stop dishing out the persons
St stuie

People saying we won't do this or we shouldn't do that make me laugh. Cortese and MP will do what they think is best and with their tactical and astute awareness, I'll take their judgement over anyone else's, thanks.

Talksport and the day star are linking us with Verona and Iceland midfielder Emil Hallfredsson, 29 and 28-year-old Catania striker Gonzalo Bergessio.
Never heard of them.

This lad was on loan at Barnsley in 2010. We on earth would we want to sign him. !

Would prefer boudebouz to halfredsson 1. Boudebouz actually wants to join us
2. Halfredsson is no better than what we've already got
Agree2

All of this linking to "lesser" known players is pure agent hype, nothing else. Agents are having a very quiet time at the moment as most clubs/ players are simply waiting for the big clubs ot make their move & start the whole merry go round off. Other than a small handful of moves nothing has really shifted at the top & therefore everything below is stuck in a traffic jam hence why agents are nearly a the point of panicking. For us, Banega & Damaio are 2 prime examples - we have matched the fees & matched the expected age demands so no issues whatsoever there however these players are simply holding out to see if a bigger club comes in for them. That becomes frustrating for any club concerned & therefore have to start talking to other agents as backups. Still 6weeks ish to go o the transfer window & I don't really see too much happening until the final 2weeks (as normal!)

Ref my last post re being linked to lesser known players; did some digging around today & it appears there is something in th hallfredsson link with talks being not quite advanced but beyond first base (?!) so we are possibly lining up alternatives. This is the guy spurs had a few years back but didn't play a game for but apparently he had a dcent season last year. The other news although read into this what you want, are no longer offering odds or bets on banega joining saints as of today.

I haven't heard any stories of him bring linked with with us, but he had a great season and has been linked with top Italian clubs for almost a year now
