I heard a rumour our away kit is black and gold? :s eya?

Believable7 Unbelievable8

I would like it to remain as the yellow and blue. Makes us look like Brazil. Especially with the great passing game, although the finishing wasn't too great with those performances.

Agree8 Disagree3

Would only like it if there is minimal gold, maybe like the white stripes on our home kit last year

Agree5 Disagree4

When does the kit come out?

Agree4 Disagree1

It's our 3rd kit that has been yellow in recent years rather than our away kit.

Agree2 Disagree2

Apparently it goes on general sale July 1st, I also heard it will be revealed some when in the next week and half. but I guessing from the person who told me they don't have an idea on the date. its hard to get info out of St Marys everyone who knows something is very tight lipped. and if I had to guess from what I figure the kit will be revealed 20th to the 24th of this month but that's me just putting two and two together. because i'm sure they will want any new signings to be holding the new kit

Agree1 Disagree0

Yep same template as the stoke away (with the wings under the armpits ) in black and gold with a gold badge too

Home kit is a similar design to Ajax's kit

Possibly a new sponsor too

Agree1 Disagree3

Why would there be a new sponsor? Aap3 still have another year.

Agree5 Disagree3

Re: the aap3 sponsorship, the rumour is that they were not expecting such a fast rise up to the premiership & last season has cost them a small fortune so were seeking a get out. It was also rumoured a short while ago that we were being linked with a major drinks brand as our new sponsors.

Agree1 Disagree0

The crest is going to be gold.

Lenny

Agree3 Disagree1

I heard the deal fell through with a new sponsor and Aap3 agreed to 1 more year at a much cheaper price.

Agree1 Disagree0

There goes the just like watching brazil chant

Agree0 Disagree0

Away kit is black and gold by all accounts. Home strip is not rank xerox style. However, saints designers tend to lag one year behind saints web - therefore we will get rank zerox addidas kit next season!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not the Saints that design the kit. They may choose a design but ultimately it will be Adidas supplying the templates and colour schemes.

Fenerbahce's Slovakian left winger Miroslav Stoch is being heavily linked with a summer switch to Southampton.
Reports in the Turkish media claim that Saints' officials have already met up with the player. There are reports claiming Fenerbahce want Saints' central defender Jose Fonte in part-exchange.

M13

Believable13 Unbelievable2

I really can't see it. I think that this is a story drummed up by agents again, emanating from Turkey.
Stoch is no better than Lallana and doesn't fit with the profile of the other players that we're being connected with. Daily Echo off on a wild goose chase again?

Agree3 Disagree3

Are you nuts? From what I have seen watching a large quantity of youtube and football related clips on this Stoch guy he is so much better than lallana.

I have never seen lallana score any of those type of goals last season and this guy score's them often.

All it would take is to have him pop these in during a few games to get the party started.

Based on performances last season this guy is better then lallana by a country mile

Agree3 Disagree4

If you are comairing him to lallana e must be a great player

st stuie

Agree3 Disagree3

Reports in holland are that he's signing in the next few days apparently

Agree1 Disagree1

Fonte won't leave the country, his girlfriend, who is VERY English, and from southampton, is expecting a baby.

Agree1 Disagree2

How do you get to become VERY English from normal English may I ask

Agree4 Disagree0

He scored two goals last season, playing in Turkey, that is a imbalanced similarly to the Scottish league.
YouTube may make him look good, but the stats would indicate that he isn't all that

Agree1 Disagree1

Haven't they just had their kid?

Agree4 Disagree0

Jose Fontes wife has already had her baby a while ago.

Agree5 Disagree0

Lallana is amazing! Club captain can play all over no1 can compare!

heard up hear in glasgow yous r putting a 8 million pound bid for gary hooper have u heard anything down there. jnm

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Heard that we are looking at him but personally i'm not sure, i'm in two minds. I want to give him a chance to prove his goals in the Spl weren't just because there isn't much competition but at the same time I do ask if he is worth the risk. but I do believe more English players deserve to prove themselves at the top flight so if we do get him I will give him a chance and yes 8 million pound has apparently been offered by Southampton but then again Norwich could of offered that money. Who Knows

Agree5 Disagree1

I wish this would just go away. It was Adkins after Hooper not Southampton!
NC and MP will be looking for a younger more talented player than Hooper. Expect a foreign forward coming in.

Agree3 Disagree1

Wouldn't pay 8million for him, 5-6 tops but I think he'd be a decent buy for Southampton

Agree4 Disagree2

I hope not. we may aswell keep billy sharp

Agree4 Disagree1

I think he could surprise some of us. He is strong and a good target man. Did anyone think Rickie would be as good as he has been in three divisions? If he can match the physical side of things in the EPL and we can finally get some consistent crossers, I think he could do ok for us.

Agree4 Disagree2

He is good and I would say people will see that very quickly which ever flub he goes to. He should be in England squad cause he would score a lot with the players and pass they have/make.8mill is fair and would and should go for carrol money, hooper has the skill and talent and the league should not come in factor for the goals he scores is pure class

Agree1 Disagree1

Was going to say exactly the same. So many doubters about RL saying he wouldn't cut it in the championship let alone the Prem. If we can get him cheap (€4-5m) then he is definitely worth a punt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know why a lot of people think hooper isn't worth a punt. He's scores goals regularly both in spl and cl. He's only 25 so will be just coming into his prime as srl is fading from his. I think it's a perfect replacement for the strong traditional English centre forward we all love to see smashing in the goals.

Agree1 Disagree0

If we want conaistent crossers, bueno is not the answer, his crossing is awful

Agree1 Disagree0

Not really sure if Saints will continue to always play with a target man. MP does follow the Barca style somewhat, and they often play without a target man.

Saint Martin

Agree3 Disagree0

Personally I don't think he will come because of two reasons. Celtic are asking too bit much for a player in the last year of his contract and his age. If we could have got him for around 4m then he may have been worth a gamble. But in all honesty I think it would be generally bad business. Rickie had time to improve with team, anyone coming in won't have that luxury so there is no point making a comparison.

For me he needs to start in the Championship score 20+ goals and get promoted with a team. That or sign for a big team that can afford the luxury of an out and out striker. Rickie scored 15 goals but his contribution in midfield was significant

Agree1 Disagree2

Hes allready played in the championship and done very well there hence celtoc buying him in the first place

Southampton will sign Gamez, Banega, Stoch, Lamela and Hooper in the window

Believable6 Unbelievable16

No, we won't. I can't see Gamez, Lamela or Hooper joining us for various reasons.

Agree7 Disagree3

Not all of them. Lamela is out of our reach in my opinion. Banega and Stoch are the only players that we would both want and be able to get. Not sure about Hooper. I don't rate him all that highly myself. Jesus doesn't fit into our transfer policy. Unless he's a free?

Lenny

Agree8 Disagree3

Banega - looking quite likely
Stoch - decent chance with Fonte PX
Hooper - 50/50
Gamez - unlikely
Lamela - pretty much no chance

Agree7 Disagree2

Honestly I think banega is a slim chance
stoch a decent chance
lamela no real chance too good at the mo
gamez little chance
Hooper limited options for him to go to premier league so good chance for us

I heard a rumour that saints are going show the fans the kit sometime within the next week and a half, with the kit going on general sale on july 1st. does anyone see any truth in this?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Hi ed do u know anymore on the new Saints Adidas kit? {Ed003's Note - There will be a shirt,shorts and socks and most likely have Red and White as the main colours.}

Agree14 Disagree7

Can't ask for more than that really lol. As long as it isn't as bad as the Liverpool away one altho i'm not sure that's possible.

Agree1 Disagree0

The three main targets that we are apparently going for are Gary hooper, Ever banega and Miroslav stoch from fernebache.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Would love all three, the goals Miroslav Stoch can score are just brilliant, I would say they remind me of mata but I wouldn't put him on matas level, Hooper is good I just think he deserves a chance in the prem and banega would be a coup for us :)

Agree4 Disagree3

This is the Miroslav Stoch that played 38 Games last season, 0 Goals and 2 Assists, doesn't sound that great to me.

Agree8 Disagree4

We get them
then bring on pre season
and next year

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah the same Miroslav Stoch that only started 12 games this season after falling out with the manager of the club -. - but the exact same Miroslav Stoch that scored 12 goals the season before in 33 games. speaks volumes about what you know this player. the very same player that has played 106 game so far in his career and has scored 24 goals from the left wing. the very same player that got goal of the season yeah that crap player, I mean the very same player that played 45 times for Fc Twente and scored 12 goals, 10 league goals and 2 Europe league goals. the very same mate, we obv don't need him I mean he sounds s*** -. -

Agree6 Disagree4

And I think you will find he played 14 games this season, get your facts straight before judging a player

Agree3 Disagree4

And just to correct myself that 106 game was for league apps not overall, overall he has played 142 games scoring 27 and he is only 23, and that's for two different clubs I don't think he actually scored for Chelsea

Agree1 Disagree3

Apparently we are not interested in Gonzalo Bueno. His agent is trying to stir up some interest but Simon Peach has said that there is no truth in Saints signing him. I can't say I'm disappointed. He has good skill but seems to be just a younger and more feeble version of De Ridder.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Agreed. Everything I have seen is that he is easily knocked over. Not physical enough for the EPL. IMHO.
We need another physical intelligent Ricky.

Any news on Ever Banega?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

He should be signing this or early next week.

Lost

Agree5 Disagree1

Word on the street is that we are going to unveil 2 signings at the kit launch, one of which is Banega. The other signing was rumoured as Hooper so really not sure on how spot on this rumour is although it does seem to be gathering pace. Personally, I would be a bit surprised to see Hooper in a Saints shirt. Not dissing the guy or the SPL but he doesn't seem to be the tip of forward we need currently. End of last season we clearly lacked creativity in the final third to produce goals & I would expect us to look outside of the UK for someone that can inject a bit of pace inside the box.

Agree5 Disagree1

I wouldn't mind hooper at saints at all! Class finisher even if it is in the SPL, something that saints lacked last season, creating chances without being clinical. He's not the best striker in the world but a cheaper option that would allow saints to spend more money on players such as Banega, lamela etc

According to the Sun Fenerbache want Jose Fonte. Think that this would mean that Jos will be staying CHRIS SFC1

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Or Fonte and Hoovield may be on their way out, with a potential new center back, maybe Astori again? Probably not don't give me hate just an opinion.

Agree1 Disagree2

The local daily wrag has said we are after Stoch as part of a swap deal

Agree1 Disagree0

Fonte was perhaps going to be involved in swap deal with miroslav stoch, whos a winger. Personally I think Fonte was much better suited to the premier league last season the Hooiveld and I'd be sad to see him go

Agree11 Disagree0

Apparently, we are also after Stoch from Fenerbache so this could turn into a swap over?

Agree2 Disagree0

We don't know wether Fonte wants to go yet, he may want to stay and fight for the shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't mean Jos would be staying for sure. perfectly possible we sign a new defender or Jack Stephens steps up to be the 4th choice.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sell Hooiveld and Fonte and buy Astori. Next season we will have the best CBs in the league.

Forren
Astori
Yoshida
Lovren

and shaw clyne either side of them. that's a dream defence!

Comon u SAINTS!

Agree4 Disagree1

^^^
Best CB's in the league? Really mate?

Agree4 Disagree6

Its been said they will not be selling astori

Agree0 Disagree1

Yh why not. whos got 4 better cbs?

Agree1 Disagree5

I would rather keep Fonte then Hoovield, but if we were to sell Fonte (which hasn't been confirmed) I don't think we'd sell Jos as well. Also we haven't signed Astori so I don't know why people keep putting him down as one of our players CHRIS SFC1

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that we would listen to offers for Jos or Fonte TBH.

Fonte is the most likely to go simply because he is the most desirable.

Jos isn't that bad, he will be fine back up. He just scored three own goals. With managers jobs being hard to keep hold of I can't see anyone else putting their faith in him with that stat (Championship or PL)

Agree0 Disagree0

Saints are rumored to have turned down a £10 million offer for Morgan Schniederlin from Real Sociedad

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Double it, then we'll listen. One of the best midfielders in the PL last season!

Agree6 Disagree5

Double and a decent sell on clause at least

Agree2 Disagree3

Double It and then we will say. err I don't think that we want to sell him ta

Agree5 Disagree1

Hmmmm, treble it more like

Agree4 Disagree0

Triple it, and we still won't listen!

Agree5 Disagree0

I still wouldn't want to sell for £20 mil - he's that important!

Agree5 Disagree0

Double it, and we still won't. He IS our future for the next 5-6 years maybe longer. He's the best CDM in the bottom half and that's not even being a biased fan.

Agree4 Disagree0

I'm not sure we'd accept any bid for Schneiderlin that wasn't ridiculously high by which I mean possibly £30million. Basically my point being we are in no position to sell Schneiderlin and his value to us is probably worth more to us than who else we could sign for that money.

Extract from Scottish Express paper couple hrs ago regarding Hooper wanting out of Celtic:

Hooper could sit tight for a year and then walk for free but wants to go now to enhance his international career after continually being overlooked by England during his time in Scotland.

No quotes from individuals or clubs but if I were him I'd want to play PL to enhance World Cup chances.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

He won't want to come to Southampton then! Woy ignores our players.

Agree5 Disagree5

I'm not sure I really want to see him in a saints shirt. Not sure he'd actually be adding all that much to us. Think he's a Championship striker really maybe capable of a low down Premiership club but not up to the level of ambition we have, signing Hooper is an acknowledgement of mediocrity.

Agree3 Disagree4

Im not going to Lie, i'm not a big fan of hooper, but I want to see him at our club because ill be honest he's English and let's be honest to many players are brought from abroad. give him a chance

EastSaint

Agree7 Disagree2

I disagree because he's probally the level of player to push for rickys spot. I think lambert and hooper battling it out for that spot with jay and mayuka also adding pace to either the wing or up top would be a good mix of pace and finishing

but I am sure we will sign someone else who isn't going for an over the top price

clarkey saint

Agree2 Disagree3

We have plenty of English talent and really if we want to add to that we should be looking for the best young English players in the Championship. Austin and Rhodes look better than Hooper.

Agree1 Disagree6

I think hooper would be great competition for ricky as lambert is lacking of pace but still plays a very key role for us I think a player like hooper is perfect competition for the both of then.

on the other hand we sign a 10million plus striker the only outcome is to change formation or drop lambert. That to me isn't a great idea so bring in someone younger who can finish well.

Yes we also have jay but depth is needed and I think hooper would be a sensible option for all situations

clarkey saint

Agree4 Disagree1

Well said mate, we need English youngsters being given a chance for the sake of our clubs, and England
National Team.
Too many foreigners playing over here.

Agree3 Disagree2

I thought Rhodes played for Scotland?

Agree2 Disagree0

Mixed bag of comments ref hooper. Advantages are English, only 25, ambitious (2nd player to leave a club playing in CL), scores a bag full and we need a lethal poacher. Disadvantage is price (but hey, it's not our money!) and gamble if he can score lots in PL. personally I'd take a punt on him depending on outcome of other players we linked with. If Carroll went for £35m £8mill for Hooper could be shrewd.

Agree4 Disagree0

You say that but some of the best players are from abroad and they make the epl the best league in the world

Agree0 Disagree1

If English players aren't getting opportunities in England, why don't they go abroad? I've never understood that.

Agree1 Disagree0

Exactly what I think, although I think either Rhodes or Austin would be good too as they're younger with more potential, but I'd love to see Hooper sign!

Agree1 Disagree0

Southampton played the most English players in the Premiership last season. Other clubs need to play more English players for that kind of development.

Agree2 Disagree0

Please don't sign hooper.

we can rotate lambo jrod and mayuka.

we should spend mega money on a quality winger (25m) and that's it

Agree3 Disagree6

Hooper would be good
but agree that lambo jrod mayuka
will show full pertential

"INTER want Paulinho or Nainggolan (supposedly one of Southamptons targets). Another young player who is being rumored to be sacrificed to make this deal happen is defensive midfielder Alfred Duncan. Duncan has been attracting a lot of attention from Paulo Di Canio's Sunderland, who are considering making an eight-million-euro offer for the talented 20-year-old. I am a huge fan of the Primavera youngster and would be upset to see Inter let him go. In fact, Duncan is such a promising talent I would even prefer for the club to forget about both Nainggolan and Paulinho and just let the Ghanaian play instead. ". Paulo Di C might be onto something here! Paulinho and Nainggolan will want to play for bigger clubs which makes it harder for us to get the best talent out there, but not impossible! I am sure we have "enquired" about several young internationals and been rejected. We have good money, but not the prestige yet. But if we get one or two more we are moving forward to a great team. In the mean time we need to fill out our squad, 1st choice-proven world class players, big transfers and wages (we are not even close - they go to the mega clubs) 2nd choice - young established players, mid 20's, showing they have the goods over a few seasons in strong leagues, 5-15mil with reasonable wages ( this is where were are now) and 3rd choice - youth with raw talent that is on the verge of being great, 16-21yrs, 0-5mil (these are ones for the future and need one or 2 yrs to make it to the first team. We have a few of our own). Alfred Duncan could be one for the future, and since we liked the idea of fellow South American, Bueno (20yrs) to help Ramirez, then fellow African, Alfred (20yrs) could help Myuka. I married into a Sunderland family so it was good to see them stay up as well. But all is fair in love and footy, would love for us to steal this one from Sunderland.

Bermuda Saint

Believable1 Unbelievable7

What's all this 'help your fellow contrymen' nonsense? They are grown men. Well, most of em!

Agree6 Disagree0

Hold up! Signing Bueno to help Ramirez settle because they are both Uruguayan is one thing, but to sign Duncan, a Nigerian, to help Mayuka from Zambia to settle is barmy! They're from completely different countries!

Agree5 Disagree0

Um. Africa is a big place. To say bring in an African to help Mayuka is like saying bring in a European to help an Englishman. Chances are they don't speak the same language or share any cultural similarities.

Agree3 Disagree0

Had a feeling that people would pick up on the different arfican countries, thus the generalities of the continents, south america and africa, but you miss the point! Alfred is possibly willing to move to BPL, so he could be a great one for the future. Anyone else think he is worth a shout.

Agree0 Disagree1

Hooper will be 26 by the time he came to Saints, can't see him being any better than Sharp TBH.

Southampton fc close to agreeing a deal for Cetics Gary Hooper. tv

Believable5 Unbelievable5

This is great news I know a lot of people don't want him but he has proved himself to score goals in the champions league. COYR

Agree7 Disagree4

No disrespect here but if we want to challeneg for a higher spot in the EPL do we really want Hooper.

He has only done well at Celtic because their league isn't as good at EPL and for the reported price of £8m would we not want a proven striker at this level or europe level to come in?

Saying that folks said SRL wouldn't do it, we haven't given Mayuka a proper shot at a game with the odd 5-10 minutes here and there. J-Rod is coming into his own and I am confident he will have it next season.

I guess its only my opinion and it don't mean diddly however with Astori, lovren and forren all fighting for a place we have a strong team and just would be nice to get a well known great pace striker to give us that little bit extra.

The question is do we already have one in Mayuka and need to use him more

Agree7 Disagree4

You do know we haven't signed astori?

Agree3 Disagree0

We don't have astori.

Agree3 Disagree0

True the SPL is awful!,
But he's still consistently scored goals in the champions league. Against big teams!
I would love to see him in a saints shirt.
Lambert was brilliant last year, but not getting any younger.
Jay rod done well last year and has bags of pace. Not a natural finisher though.
Hopefully we'll see a bit more of mayuka this season.
Thought he changed the home game against spurs. Then didn't really get a look in til a few sub appearances towards the end of the season.

Ed - any news on a rumour that surfaced a while ago about Lorenzo Insigne? The kid looks class, he's had a great U-21 Euros and I was pretty excited when we were linked with him, have you heard anything? {Ed016's Note - He is very talented, but cant see him going to saints myself}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I think its a done deal and he is coming to us {Ed016's Note - haha ok then}

Agree3 Disagree4

I can't see this happening.

Agree1 Disagree1

I would be absolutely amazed if he came to St Mary's

Agree1 Disagree0

He's a good payer for sure, lots of talent. But he is no better than lallana (although younger) and he's not exactly playing against the highest level of players in Israel. If we signed him I think he would sit on the bench, and would either lose out to JWP or take his spot. Not good enough for us in the areas we need. imho. He is a good player though, just we don't need him.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ah thanks Ed, I was going to say if we were linked with him before then now a big club will certainly get in ahead of us anyway! Proved himself on a wider stage that he's quality. Doubt Napoli will let him go now. Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever posted about being "No better than Lallana", you seriously have the wrong player.
Insigne plays for Napoli. and Napoli wasn't in Israel last thing I knew.
or are you mixing up Napoli and Tripoli, which is close to Israel?
He is also not a midfielder, he is a striker.
One thing you are right on though is that he may be fighting Lallana for his spot. I think playing up with Rodriguez, Insigne could be a formidable partnership

Agree4 Disagree0

St ripper I think he meant that he is not playing against the highest level of player in israel because he is in the u21 squad who just happen to be oh that's it in israel at the u21 championship.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ah, of course. I knew that :0/
