Spot on mate, just saw the article on the official site, good young keeper, not sure if hes a good second choice keeper but he'll certainly add something to our team in time, saw him a few times last season his kicking accuracy is unbelievable and pin point, think kelvin will help his development

Agree8 Disagree0

Done deal, just announced on sports day live that he's signed a 4 year contract with us.

James

Agree6 Disagree0

Nd we got rid of forecast for a season thank god for that haha, dont think he'll be getting a new contract next year for some reason

Just to say I've watched this kid for a while, he's a top talent and I'm proud we managed to bring him to Southampton. He's a hard worker and does have the ability to be one of the best keepers in the world.

{Ed022's Note - Hi all. I just wanted to notify you all that there has been a pretty hefty update to the Player Profiles website. This update now allows you, the fans, to upload your own profiles on any player, in any league, in any position. So, now rather than seeing just my own opinion on a player, you can now see other fans' opinions also on those players, as well as dropping a comment and giving your own. This update has taken a fair bit of time and I'm hoping that you'll all use it to the full etc, and just to come over to the site and have a look. - www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

Just heard the news.

Alex buttner looks set to sign either this weekend or early next weekend.! he is also not on the vitesse website as a player which means he is off to saints :)
Summers

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Its taken a while cz they need to agree new terms in the contract again, and as its saints this is why there's been a delay, NC wants to get it all right before he signs

JustASaint

Agree6 Disagree1

Good point JustASaint, you seem to get the transfers spot on :)
Summers

Agree3 Disagree1

Looks to me like the deal has fallen through. Why else would Buttner say he has heard nothing and other options are open again.

Agree3 Disagree1

To be honest my post was more hope than truth :) but you never know
Summers

Agree1 Disagree1

So you made it up. Well that's great.

Re Alex Buttner.
I had a good feeling with Southampton, but the transfer depends on several factors.

"At the moment all options are open again."

Buttner's agent is also in the dark when it comes to his client's future, but admits that a switch to Southampton would appear unlikely.

"It appears agreements that were reached 10 days ago don't exist anymore," said Alexander Bursac.

"The way everything is right now astounds us and is unacceptable, for us and Vitesse

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Why dont we just sign him FFS
Summers

Agree3 Disagree2

I suspect it is the Buttner side of this deal that is acting in a 'unacceptable' way. NC is far too professional to allow this type of behaviour. Let's move on to the next target and let Buttner and his agent play games with someone else. JsyL

Agree5 Disagree1

I don't know about NC being too professional. I think he is petty and reactionary and arrogant. But he sure as hell ain't stupid.

Buttner's agent introduced a third party after all agreements had been reached. Vitesse didn't want to lose any of the fee to a third party introduced after negotiations had been concluded and you can bet your bottom dollar NC won't stump up another penny that wasn't part of the original agreement. And niether should he.

If this deal is going to happen now either Saints have to pay more, which is not going to happen, vitesse have to give up a wedge of their fee (and they have already stated that they won't) or Buttner is going to have to renegotiate his contract so that the third party cut is taken out of his salary and signing fee which of course the agent won't like.

So I really can't see Buttner appearing for Saints this season.

What the legal ramifications of all this are is beyond me but I don't think for one minute buttner's agent is going to go quietly while his client is effectively in football limbo.

Feel sorry for the lad actually. Seems like he really does want to play for Saints.

Ah well

Agree4 Disagree0

Sounds like he needs a new agent, but that's really not Saints problem and if they can not sort out the contract their end then we should look elsewhere.

Nigel Adkins considering making an offer for recently relegated Bolton's David Wheater if Southampton can't agree on a fee for Blackburn defender Scott Dann

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Are we actually in for Scott Dann. Nothing ever came of that rumour.

Lenny

Agree4 Disagree2

Isn't he out for ages? Cruciate ligament I think. I doubt NA would make an offer for a player who won't be able to play.

Agree3 Disagree0

Scott Dann, not sure Lenny, i would have thought he would have been talked about as an option and on the list but not at 6m - however he has played in the Prem and is still a good age
i did hear some weeks ago that we had tested the water at around 2.5m but nothing since ------ but you never know with NA & NC do ya

My money is on Butler joining over the weekend

Chalkie

Agree2 Disagree1

Apparently Ajax want him on loan (Dann that is) so this Dann deal seems just to be a rumour.

Agree3 Disagree1

Celtic looking 7M plus add ons for Hooper, not worth it for an player untested in EPL?

Agree2 Disagree4

Don't need another striker. Sharp, lambert and rodriguez seem absolutely fine, no reason to spend that much money for a striker we aren't in desperate need of.

The Jeremain Lens rumour down the rounds back in early May & i think this may have come from the daily Star lol........

He's a Guly type player behind the front 2, so i'm surprised with Guly's extension we are back him for him, but glad he's a good winger aswel

I heard yesterday that we have made an improved offer for Butland which i think maybe a take or we'll leave it type conversation - hearing somewhere around 6.5m - 7.5m

Also heard Barnard will be gone by Monday as Watford and Wednesday have both tabled deals leaving it now for Lee to choose

ryan dickson being offered as part of the Zaha deal is coming from a palace source? but he also claims that we are 2m out with the offer

Chalkie

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Both Zaha and Lens are fantastic players, but would be amazed if we signed both of them?

Especially if the Buttner deal, Butland and a new Centre Back get completed

Huey

Agree6 Disagree0

I think he's more energetic than Guly and he makes a few more runs which will be of great use to us. I can beleive the Barnard thing but I don't think we'll get Zaha.

Lenny

Agree8 Disagree0

If his a regular in the psv team and and has a 11 caps for holland his obviously much better than guly and he just is anyway

Agree2 Disagree1

All good signings :) though i dont think the Buttner deal is going to happen. its hanging in the balance
Spoon ;)

Agree2 Disagree2

Lens and Guly are nothing the same.

Guly is a decent utility player for playing anywhere along the frontline, Lens is pacey and quick so more suited to the winger role.

Guly has been kept on to fill the same role he did this season, i.e. on the bench and coming off to fill in anywhere up front he is needed (as second striker or right mid). if we signed Lens he would be first choice right wing. Totally different style of play, totally different calibre.

Sky Sports understands that Southampton have made a move for Dutch international forward Jeremain Lens.

Dutch sources have revealed to Sky Sports that the newly-promoted Premier League outfit have made an audacious attempt to land the PSV star.

be a good signing if we could pull that off but then zaha deal would be out the window i reckon

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Would be a great capture if this came off.

Good bit of pace on him and he can play on the right or sit behind strikers.

JJ

Agree6 Disagree0

He looks a very good player and obviously had a lot of skill and pace which is what we need, some of the goals he's scored are amazing as well. YouTube him and watch the 18 goals he's scored!!

Mini-saint

Agree4 Disagree0

I think i would rather sighn zaha beacuse he is only 19 and has a very high potential also craig gordan is a good young keeper so why is every one on about butland when gordan has premier league experiance

Agree2 Disagree4

Not sure about Zaha tbh, Lens is 24 which is at the right age imo, cos hell have a bit of experience but still youthful.

Mini-saint

Agree1 Disagree0

Zaha would be great, but a very different type of player to Lens.

Our attacking play will be lethally quick next season... lets hope we can get the ball past the half way line for them to show it!
Davis is key to that.

Saints pattern seems to be to buy young, confident, ambitious players who have a lot to prove.
Can't see how Gordon, who basically disappeared off the radar at Sunderland, would fit in with that.
Lets face it, the Butland deal is in the bag or we would have gone for someone else by now. Its just about how much it'll cost us....

Huey

Agree1 Disagree2

This guys only 23 or whatever. We can still mould him.

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Gordon is just another Kirkland good keeper but always injured and as for you tube to see if a players good that ridiculous, I think we need 5 more player 2 keepers one for the future and a 3rd choice cuz forecast Is terrible, two centre backs one with pace and another willing to wait for a chance cuz fonte will not cope in the priemeier league and as for his pace there is none and a right midfielder who can play on the left so him and LALLANA can swap

Agree4 Disagree0

Rather have Alan Mcgregor from rangers, very very good keeper, decent age, lots of experience and wouldn't cost anything really surprised he hasn't been snapped up by someone like arsenal so I think we should jump in quick before someone else gets a bargain

One rumour going around again now is that Jack Butland's move to Southampton could be back on.

Watch this space!

PP

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I hope not, Saints need a keeper that is fit and ready for premier league football, maybe someone with a bit of premier league experience.
Saint do not need someone that is unproven at every level, someone that everyone knows the name but no one knows why, someone that nobody would have heard of if it wasn't for England's 3rd choice getting injured, and looks to set us back about £11m after payouts and clauses. This would be with about £9mil upfront.
On this reckoning Ruddy (picked above Butland for England) with experience and somewhat proven at the top level, should be worth about £17-£20mil. This is just stupid. If these boys are worth that then Joe Hart must be worth about £150mil.
Yes Butland is good but Saints should not be looking to pay more then about £3mil.
You move to big clubs for small money then make your name, not move for massive money with no name.
>:(

Agree3 Disagree5

Get Lindegaard. If we are talking about value, then he surely is all that. Let's not forget, if it had not been because of Lindegaard's injury in training, De Gea would still be second choice at Manchester United.

Lindegaard oozes ambition, is intelligent, and is a commanding figure in his area. Not to mention, he is only young.

Hope that old rumour is true...

Agree2 Disagree1

We're just a big of a club as birmingham, we are no bigger, to suggest Butland moving to Saints counts as a move to a 'big club' is madness.

He's easily worth in excess of £6million, if that reaches towards £9-10million that is the risk we would have to take. But early signs are very very strong, he used to share the same coach as Joe Hart and is said to have been better than Hart at that level, so there is talent there. If we buy him now and get to polish off his youth training appropriately there is no reason why he can't be within the same quality bracket as Hart. Hart is valued at over £20million.

No one says it isn't a risk, but for a young english player who is one of the hottest keepers around, it's not a massively inflated valuation. Risky, yes. But unjustified, no.

Having said that... not sure if I would want him as second choice just yet, if we could get an older keeper for a year as backup then use Butland as 2nd choice once he hits 19-20, then bring him into first XI.

JJ

Agree3 Disagree2

I do agree with a lot you say, but also Adkins was an ex GK and I trust him to get this one right.

Saint Martin

Agree6 Disagree0

Im hearing that D berbatov has 5 mil price on him this would be a great buy if this is true. NA should def be lookin at this great experience in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree8

Berbatov?? What are you on?
Over 30, not a team player, £100k a week wages.

£5m? United would let us have him for free just to get his lazy a&se off their books

Agree5 Disagree0

Berbatov? You have to be joking-his wages would be crazy!

Saint Martin

Agree3 Disagree0

Watched berba in the game yesterday and hes an absolute donkey, all he done was complain, when he could not be bothered to move towards the ball
