Saints about to sign Hernandez from man u.

Believable7 Unbelievable37

No we're not. Would be great if we were but we're not

Agree21 Disagree2

Someone has been at the magic coffee

Agree16 Disagree3

Supposedly we are after a great striker but I don't think it will be Hernandez - at a big push someone like Alvaro Negredo perhaps

Agree9 Disagree7

Why would we want hernandez

Agree4 Disagree14

We'd want Hernandez as he is a top quality goal scorer and that is something we need because Lambert can't always be expected to score. If he hits poor form we'd be lucky to have players like Hernandez.

Agree10 Disagree2

Where'd you get the coffee?
please.

Agree6 Disagree1

Bernard or lamella

Agree4 Disagree3

Who the hell is Bernard?

Lenny

Agree6 Disagree5

I doubt we'll sign my Uncle Bernard. He was a wizz in his day but he's drawing his pension now.

Agree9 Disagree4

Bernard is a Brazilian who plays for atletico miniero (the club ronaldinho plays for). He is a very skilful and talented player and he is only 19. If you go on YouTube you can see many compilations on him.

Agree9 Disagree2

Bernard came on for the last 10 minutes or so against England wearing the number 20 shirt.

Agree4 Disagree1

Slightly off topic. but does anyone remember the point blank volley in to Olivier Bernard's face? (Thank you uploading website)

Agree6 Disagree2

Played well against England when he came on. quick and skillful

Agree5 Disagree2

SFC86 yea I do it was funny as f;/k

Agree3 Disagree2

No chance of getting Bernard. He's regarded extremely highly in the brazil set up, he will go to a BIG European team, would be amazing if he came here but I highly doubt it. England had no idea how to handle him when he came on.

Agree6 Disagree2

Also linked with Chelsea and Spurs.

Agree3 Disagree2

Whoever said, 'No chance of getting Bernard'
Please crawl back under your pebble, unknowledgeable skate

St Ripper

Agree5 Disagree7

Ramirez was linked with Liverpool and spurs, Forren was linked to Liverpool and utd, Clyne was linked with utd. Just cause a player is linked to a bigger team doesn't mean they'll go

Agree8 Disagree2

Honda to saints

Agree3 Disagree3

Bloody hell who isn't linked to chelsea yawn

Agree3 Disagree3

Is this Bernard guy wishful thinking or are we actually linked to him?

Lenny

Agree2 Disagree1

He's a young foreign player + Big talent + Looked at by other English clubs = rumours linking him with Saints.

Absolutely nothing concrete to suggest we are/have/will be looking at him.

Based on that, I'd advise you take this with a pinch of salt and don't get excited. Not because we can't/won't sign him, just because there is absolutely nothing suggesting we will.

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't forget that the Saints taught the Brazilians how to play football. We've still got some weight and are not an unknown club out there.

Agree3 Disagree2

I said no chance, I am a saints fan, I am also not deluded. Bernard would be astonishing as a signing but he is very highly regarded as a Brazilian international. I guess you had a bit of a shock when neymar went to barca instead of saints eh?!

Agree4 Disagree3

Never seen so many disagrees on a post lol

Agree1 Disagree0

^ you're having a go at other fans about being deluded, yet you have no idea how good of a prospect moving to Southampton is for young players. Pretty much guaranteed first team football, the chance to improve in a team going places and earning a decent wage doing it. The only players who were genuinely interested in that won't join are the money hungry ones who are going to come with an ego, players we wouldn't want anyway

Agree2 Disagree3

I'm not having a go at other fans, I'm simply saying that Bernard is a bit out of our reach. I also said in both of my posts that it would be a remarkable signing. I just simply don't see it happening. Yes we are a good club for young up and coming players, but we aren't the only good club for up and coming players. And as yet, we aren't in a European competition. I would expect Bernard would rather sign for a club that is. I haven't "had a go" at anyone.

Astori's agent has been seen in southampton apparently I hope it's true

Believable19 Unbelievable7

I hope so too

Agree10 Disagree4

Would be a great signing, would also add a bit of physicality to the team as we aren't to dangerous from corners

Agree7 Disagree2

Why would he be in southampton? NC is still in Italy and the players and management are on holiday

Agree11 Disagree1

Although I sincerely doubt his agent. Had been spotted in Southampton. The Astori rumour seems to be one of the only rumours that genuinely

Agree7 Disagree2

Astori's agent is always "being seen in Southampton"!

Perhaps he has a yacht!

Just waiting for the "news" about a local hotel booking!

This one is getting like the Daily Express annual "news" in February predicting a "barbeque summer".

Saint Martin

Agree6 Disagree3

The player has terrible discipline unfortunately. not sure if he fits what we need in the prem, too many cards. meaning too many fouls

Agree3 Disagree0

Do you even know who David Astori's agent is?

Agree5 Disagree1

Could be casting an eye over the clubs facilities for his player, maybe a place to live? Just because NC is away doesn't mean the player and or his agent won't want to see where his future place of work is?!

Agree4 Disagree1

Fair point but, staplewood is in the new forest, that's where most meetings will take place and if there has been contact between the club and agent why would he come over knowing there is little to know chance of seeing anything but the reception at St Mary's

Agree0 Disagree0

May be that he has heard about KFC in hedge end and wanted to see it for himself.

Agree1 Disagree0

The cleaner could show him around and give him a tour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, Marchwood is in the New Forest, gone up in the world!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumor said see in Southampton not at St Marys Stadium didn't it?

I guess that he could helicopter in from anywhere but I imagine that he would most likely arrive by plane. That means Southampton airport or maybe they have re-opened stoney cross especially?

Not sure what the hotels are like in Hythe, I suppose he could stay at Rhinefield House or they could book him straight into the priory?. Either way, if he did come over, it would take considerable effort to avoid Southampton entirely

Agree0 Disagree0

What I seriously don't get is that, seeing as almost nobody will know who David Astori's agent is, how is anybody going to know if they have seen him.

Agree2 Disagree0

Who also said Astori has a discipline problem? You know nothing!
Last season he received one yellow, the season before 2.
Just because he was sent off twice this season, so what? Unless you know anything about what made his sending offs so wreck less?

Any news on us signing Adrian, heard we were interested and I think he'd be a class signing but haven't heard anything in a while?

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Adrian who, not Adrian Mole surely?

Agree7 Disagree4

I can't see it happening seeing as Athletico have already lost Falcao.

Agree5 Disagree4

Adrian Mole - quite good in his day like Beckham was but, may now be past his best

Agree4 Disagree2

Yes but surely they're looking to replace him with another big money striker? I can see them getting someone like Leandro Damiao and there apparantly interested in Benteke so if they're looking to replace him with either of them I doubt he'll want to stay

Agree2 Disagree1

They have Diego costa who still plays more than Adrian, they will replace falcao they always find world class strikers. Eds, back me up.

Agree2 Disagree1

Just say it - Adrian Lopez - there is another player just called Adrian who plays for Barcelona! But Saints were linked with the striker Adrian Lopez from Atletico Madrid back in January. With Falcao gone its difficult to see Atletico letting him go as well

Agree1 Disagree2

We'll wait until they sign a couple of class strikers to replace him then, then we'll see if he's likely to move

Agree2 Disagree1

Also have you heard anything about Athletico Madrid replacing Falcao Ed? {Ed001's Note - they are looking to get a replacement now, not sure it will be a big signing though, they are struggling for money.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Tbh he doesn't score that many goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't scored many this year but did last year, think it was 19 last year, he's been struggling with injury and form this year but would still be a class signing! And they can't be too bad ed after selling falcao for 50m? {Ed001's Note - the whole of Spain is on the verge of financial meltdown, that includes most of their football clubs too.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Please, Please, Please let this be true. I just want to here the whole of St Marys doing Rocky impressions when he scores!

Anybody know any striker links with Saints, we really need a clinical finisher with pace. Does anyone know who our striker targets are?

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Been linked with Lukaku which is not too likely to happen. Other than that I don't have a clue.

Agree4 Disagree2

Earlier in the year we were linked with Adrian from athletico Madrid but apart from than that I haven't got a clue

Agree4 Disagree2

Need to give mayuka a chance

Agree14 Disagree3

We were linked with Honda just a few weeks ago.

Lenny

Agree6 Disagree3

Honda is an attacking midfielder I think {Ed001's Note - he can play anywhere mate. I have seen him play left back, left midfield, defensive midfield, central midfield, left wing back, attacking midfield, target man and support striker. The ultimate utility man. }

Agree5 Disagree0

Alvaro Negredo?

Agree2 Disagree1

Aha fair enough, wouldn't mind him then edd

Agree3 Disagree0

Is it just me or has everyone missed the fact that now Reading have relegated and the lad scored a shed load last term but Le Fondre seems to be a natural move on from Rickie! let's be honest Rickie ain't going to play every game next season he's 32 and jay rod needs a someone alongside him! And let's be honest J Rod doesn't play as well without a wing man! It just seems Le Fondre is a natural progression!

Agree0 Disagree5

Le Fondre only scored so many because of the way Reading play where they throw everything forward at the end of the game to try to salvage something and he comes off the bench at the right point to be full of energy on a tiring pitch with his team throwing the kitchen sink at the opposition and got the luck to fall into the right place at the right time. He would not suit the style of play at Southampton and really he's not the right size or player type to be our next Rickie Lambert (or Matt Le Tiss tribute act).

Agree3 Disagree0

No way should we sign Le Fondre especially as a "progression" on from Ricky, we should be looking at much better than that, like Adrian Lopez, who'd be class and if we went for an English striker I'd hope it would be Rhodes, Austin or Mcmanaman

Southampton are looking at a number of targets, they are very keen and working hard on trying to bring these players in. Davide Astori from Cagliari for 12 million, Jesus Gamez from Malaga for 4 million, Radja Nainggolan from Cagliari for 15 million, Erik Lamela from Roma for 18 million, Hiroshi Kiyotake from Nurenburg for 5 million and a striker.

Believable14 Unbelievable5

If we get these players I would wet myself!

Agree12 Disagree4

So we're going to spend 44 million plus more on a striker?

Agree7 Disagree2

We signed two players for free last year in Davies and Boruc so wouldn't be surprised if a few signings were on the free market as there are a few good DM's available such as Flamini and Ittura both would be very good signings IMO and someone like Syvlan Aramond who is also available on a free to cover LB, then I agree Gamez 4m, Astori 12m, Lamela 18m and I'd rather Adrian for 7m for a striker and maybe someone like Scot Sinclair 6m to cover wings totals at 48m, which is well quite a lot but I expect a lot will be made back from player sales as we are having a mass clear out apparantly.

Agree3 Disagree3

Don't be surprised if we do spend that much, the money is definitely there, just up to the players to buy into NC's plan

Agree6 Disagree1

I would love all of these just hope our budget can stretch to get them hope we do all class players and striker wise I think adrians been rumord or lukku on loan

Agree3 Disagree0

My uncle does a lot of media work at Southampton and told me that Saints will be given £35m plus player sales to spend

Agree2 Disagree7

Your uncle does media work? He would never be told a budget if he was even vaguely related to media work at Southampton.

Agree7 Disagree1

Yes I believe your uncle got told our budget lol! I expect NC, PO, Kathren Lieber and a couple of others are the only people who know the budget.

Agree4 Disagree1

Reports suggest and i'm not crazy we have £100 million war chest to spend on players not saying this is true as the source is the daily echo lol but I can see us spending big maybe 60 million you get that for coming last this season but if cortese wants euro football top 6 we need to spend big.

Agree0 Disagree2

Be interesting to see what does happen. To be honest the amount of money we have ranges so wildly I tend to ignore it. But. NC has apparently said he wants top 6 and if that's what he wants then he will need to spend big to keep up with the usual teams. It could be exciting times for us.

I just hope it doesn't happen at the end. Would like the players to bed in during training.
Also there's that bit of worry on who we get. let's face it. Money doesn't equal awesomeness. Look at Ramirez. Moments of class during a lot of average. Not worth the money at the moment.

Agree2 Disagree0

^ wish people would stop with the Ramirez chat. Yeah he may not have had a fantastic season but it wasn't bad at all. And look at other players who didn't have a great first season yet will be remembered as some of the best - Henry, Drogba, Ronaldo, I could go on

Saints could sighn Matt Phillips of Blackpool

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Saints COULD technically sign a lot of people. Why Matt Phillips specifically?

Agree7 Disagree2

I'd love this, good young player with pace, got a lot of potential and scores goals, do we not need more pace on the wings?

Agree5 Disagree3

We do need more pace but we could get an around better player
