I've been told that 1 of these 3 players is going to join Saints next week!-- Scott Sinclair (Man city)/ Callum Mcmanaman (Wigan)/ Will Hughes, Derby). (my money is on Will Hughes:-))
Eds note?

I hope we only get sinclair he s teh best
Agree6
Disagree4
Is this from You Ed?. Hmmm Not seen much of Hughes. How much?
Agree2
Disagree4
{Ed001's Note - no, not from the editors.}
We're not going to sign anyone else this window. Stop being ridiculous. We've spent almost £40 million. We still have financial fair play rules to abide by, and January to think about just in case.
Agree2
Disagree10
I think you'll find we've spent closer to £30 mil. Plus, if the rumours of punch leaving are true then getting sinclair (on loan) would be good. McManaman looks like a quality prospect too so one for the future. I've heard about hughes but not seen anything to comment.
Agree5
Disagree1
Baseless comment. Are you the person who claimed we had finished business 3 weeks ago?
Number 11 is vacant. Puncheon has left so expect a signing.
Also we will be fine on fair play. Half the team are youth pros who won't be on that much.
Agree6
Disagree1
Shut up with your "we won't sign anyone else" ramble. You ain't got a clue what we're up to. ZING ZANG ZONGAGE

Would like to see us sign some young english talent like will hughes
Agree5
Disagree1
People do realise the FFP only affects teams involved in European competition right? {Ed002's Note - True for UEFA FFP not true for EPL FFP.}
Agree0
Disagree1
'Would like us to sign some young English talent' why? Don't we have enough coming through already?
Agree3
Disagree1
Would love to see Hughes at Saints, They were absolutely ranting and raving about his talent on talksport today,
Agree3
Disagree0
The epl ffp means, from my limited knowledge, we are allowed a loss of around 100m over 3 seasons and there are no wage restrictions under a total of 50m. With the new tv deal coming in and the owners investment, added to the fact Nicola knows a bit about bank balances, I think we are acting well within our budget
Agree2
Disagree0
We don't exactly lack english talent!
Agree2
Disagree0
I think cortese was hoping initially to pick up osvaldo and banega for 20 mill but Valencia valued him at 15. After failing with damiao I reckon we went back in for osvaldo with an increased offer from 10 to 15. I still think we would have 5 mil to spend if need be. Any of the above fits this category
Agree1
Disagree1
Just read a sky scout report about Will Hughes. They have him marked as the next big thing! Only 17 great left foot and can cut a defense in half with his passing. I hope it's him would fit our mould of bringing through young English talent perfectly.
Agree3
Disagree0
Will hughes has incredible talent for his age watched him several times for derby and could end up being an absoloute steal by getting him while he still getting better and better!
Agree1
Disagree0
Think we only paid about 13 ish for Osvaldo and would get Banega for less than 10 if we let it go down to the wire. Always thought these were the two Poch has always been after.
Agree0
Disagree3
I'm hoping for Sinclair and Will Hughes out of these, Sinclair could make an impact now and Hughes could partner well with JWP in future as well as possibly being able to play AMC when needed
Agree2
Disagree0
Will Hughes is going to Liverpool. We will sign Sinclair. We wouldn't have let Puncheon go if this wasnt nailed on

Anyone know if we're still in for Banega?
Believable3
Unbelievable7
We don't need him and he won't leave was captain on their pre season and said he wants to stay
Agree4
Disagree8
This ones completely dead.
Agree1
Disagree1
If you have ever seen Banega play you would never ever say we don't need him. Different quality on the ball. Better than most of AM's around. If we have the best rotation squad in the league in the engine room we will score lots of goals and put so much pressure on the opposition, exactly the way Barcelona do it. No we're not Barca but if we could come close to their style who knows. I trust completely in Mauricio Pochettino.
Agree2
Disagree0
Look what Osvaldo was supposed to have said about moving to Saints. Don't listen to made up hearsay.
Agree1
Disagree0
If we were to get benega he would start behind the striker every game he made the likes of Ozil, Ronaldo, kaka look like school boys when they played Real Madrid this year, he got man of the match. He's the one player I think we need now, not in two years. Plus he's only going to get better, when I watch him play he has everything including pace that we need.

Punch is off to Palace. Gutted.
Believable14
Unbelievable5
Just had medical
Agree3
Disagree3
Why would he have a medical if he's going on loan?
Agree3
Disagree2
Is that for loan?
Agree1
Disagree0
Noooooooo, he was mustard last year! and he s***s when he wants : (
Agree7
Disagree0
I hope there's a clause saying Punch can't play against us.
Agree2
Disagree0
This makes no sense why give him a new contract then loan him out!
Agree1
Disagree1
I can't see why they would let Puncheon go he was class last year. Seems he must've fallen out with someone. Poch doesn't seem to play with wingers so I can't see why everyone thinks we are going to sign Sinclair.
Agree1
Disagree1
Because they are signing someone else??
Agree0

Scott Sinclair, wasted great talent at City.

Apparently, Puncheon is going back for family reasons, its his home area, Didn't specify - according to BBCsport.

Saints youth team players George Mells has hinted that Jason Puncheon is about to sign on loan for Crystal Palace.
Odd one, only signed a new contract with Southampton last season
Believable8
Unbelievable3
I hope not as he is a better player than a lot give him credit for. Scored a lot of vital goals for us but he does seem to be a fringe player much like cork looks like becoming.
Agree5
Disagree4
Can't see why! Unless more transfers are inward bound?m
Punch's is good cover?
Very interesting!!
Agree6
Disagree0
The Croydon Advertiser is also saying that this Puncheon deal could happen.
Perhaps we think that one rebel in the squad at a time is more than enough ;)
Still when Banega gets here we will be okay - but then he's a bit of a rebel too isn't he?
Agree0
Disagree5
Season long loan deal completed today,. Expect announcement
Agree3
Disagree0
We would not be weakening our squad unless a better player is coming in IMO. Number 11 shirt still to be filled me thinks?
Agree4
Disagree0
Confirm he's about to be loaned to palace
Agree2
Disagree0
Posted on here a week back that rumour had puncheon going to crystal palace on loan. Maybe he is considering it given recent signings. He doesn't seem to be starting eleven material at saints?
Agree3
Disagree0
CORK ISN'T BECOMING A FRINGE PLAYER! WE'VE HAD ONE GAME THIS SEASON SO FAR. WE HAVE THREE PLAYERS WHO PLAY IN HIS POSITION ALL OF WHOM WILL ROTATE WITH EACH OTHER. Clearly you still have a small club mentality, we need more players in each position to keep them fresh, not because one isn't in our plans. Same goes for evwery other player in our squad
Agree7
Disagree1
This was also reported on BBC Sport earlier this afternoon
Agree4
Disagree0
What a bad piece of business, should either be sold of kept. No reason to loan out such a good player. He is worth keeping in the squad and only selling if we have a replacement ready.
Agree2
Disagree2
Saints want big crowd sat + punch possibly going out on loan = new signing for number 11 shirt
Agree3
Disagree2
He has - must have been something behind the scenes. He was integral in pre season & featured heavily in all the behind-the-scenes videos. Must have fallen out (again) with someone. Strange.
Agree5
Disagree2
Maybe the youth player is just taking the press for mugs
His tweet reads
"Hope Jason Puncheon does well on his loan spell at Crystal Palace. "
Bit specific isn't it? not "good luck to punch at palace" or some friendly cheek. the only detail missing is the 1 year deal bit
Agree2
Disagree0
The guy that disagrees so pointedly about cork becoming a fringe player, with Wanyama and Spider as the obvious main pairing then corks involvement will be limited as we don't play so many games like the BIG clubs and yes we are a small to medium sized club with wealthy backing. can you see us filling a 70k stadium as I can't at the mo. We are upwardly mobile and ambitious so our fanbase will grow but just because we have spent money does not elevate us to a big club. Any player not starting regularly is a fringe player or if you prefer a squad player. person.
Agree4
Disagree6
Maybe poch has looked at isgrove pre season and decided he is ready to play the role punch solid last term.
Also we don't play with wingers like punch, maybe he is struggling to get to grips tactically since Adkins left? I noticed when he came on v sociadad he made an impact, but completely different style to other players we have in that position
Agree2
Disagree0
The style of football we play is very intense, so yes although we won't be playing as many games as a big club we will still need to rotate
Agree1
Disagree0
Cork isn't a fringe player and anyone who says he is, is just stupid and unknowledgeable about football. we play a high pressing game which will fatigue the legs over the course of the season so all of are mids cork, schniderlin, wanyama, davis and jwp will play a big role to try and finish as high up the table as we can

Apparently Guly Do Prado has made it known to Nicola Cortese he would like to leave Southampton in pursuit of first team opportunities. Do Prado feels he can't keep pace with the strength of the current side and has asked Cortese to do him a favour and try to push him into one of the better Championship teams.
To all the Guly haters, don't comment saying 'it's about time' or any of that. Do Prado was great for us in seeking our Premiership spot in the first place and showed on a few accounts last season that he still has a reason to be in our squad. But if he feels it is time to move on, I'd like to see him get an opportunity elsewhere.
Believable11
Unbelievable4
Good post above, you're right he probably wouldn't be a regular in our first team at the mo, but last season, particularly against Stoke he played very well, good luck to him
Agree3

He's played very well in the pre season build up too. He looks fit and sharp.
Agree4
Disagree4
Good luck to him! He's still a saint?

It's about time

I think this is a load of BS but I could be wrong. He is a big man called in to do a certain job at certain times. I think he will stay another season at least as he is still on the bus and did well in pre-season.
Why would he put himself in the same position as Sharp, people want him but can't afford his BPL wages. Guly knows he is on a good thing at Saints and he will get some games this season.
Agree5
Disagree4
Thought he actually looked one of the better players in pre season, his roles changed over the last few seasons from an out and out goal scorer to a winger and I think he got some unfair criticism from not scoring so often, made a few mistakes but not one player who played last season can say they didn't make a mistake and I think Guly was singled out more than he should have but definitely showed in a few games last season he could do the business
Agree4
Disagree7
Cant see this happening unless we are ringing in more players. It is obvious that we are building a squad with depth & only a small batch of players are going to be played in every single game. Rotation is going to be key going forward & the players i'm sure are aware of this.
Agree3
Disagree2
I can remember going to the lane last season and Guly went about his job well and keeping Bale quiet, Guly gets subbed then oh f*ck Bale scores! Would be sad to see him go but he would have a lot to offer for a lower half prem team or champ team. If you do go gul me old mucker cheers for the memories dude!
Agree6
Disagree2
Always liked Guly. was like Papa Waigo.
Agree3
Disagree1
^ except guly could stay onside :p
Agree2
Disagree1
Surely a joke, guly is offside nearly as much as pipo inzagi. lol
Agree0
Disagree0
Personally I do think it's time he leaves, personally he was hardly good enough in League 1, in the Champ he was pathetic and in the Prem he constantly gave the ball away and with a gaping open goal blazed the ball 10 yards over, I'm sorry but we do NOT need players like that. Thanks for the help Guly but now it's time to leave and good luck for your future
Agree0
Disagree4
Daddyriche, you clearly know nothing about Saints or Guly.
Whatever the criticisms of Guly, none of them is that he loses possession.
And to refer to one disputed goal miss on a rebound from last season to support your "expertise" emphasizes your ignorance.

Arsenal are interested in signing Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton. He's seen as being the perfect midfield enforcer for the Arsenal side. A big bid will have to be placed to convince the Saints to consider parting with their best midfielder, especially to an English club. Nicola Cortese is thought to not listen to anything below £20 million for Southamptons star man.
Believable3
Unbelievable14
Absolutely no chance of us supplying Arsenal anymore, we are actually going places.
Agree12
Disagree0
For £20m, NO chance.
How would we replace a player who had over 20% more tackles and interceptions than anyone else in the Prem?
Agree10
Disagree0
This won't happen, they'll probably try, but Arsenal will be in panic buying mode soon, they'll try and get anyone who fits the bill
Agree11
Disagree0
Jog on arsenic
Weve carried your team for far to long were moving up the league now so keep an eye out over your shoulder!
Agree8
Disagree0
Not Arsenal after another Southampton player? I don't believe it, they never chase our players. £20 million is a bit much though, couldn't we do them a deal where they offer us £5 million and then pay in installments?
About time Arsenal do what we do and produce your own talent instead of taking ours.
Agree6
Disagree3
Morgan's showed on many occasions that he's up there with the best, given his age he's worth at least 25 and that's if we want to sell, which we don't. It would take 35+ to get him away from us
Agree7
Disagree0
Maybe if they offer Frimpong, Arteta, ox and wallcott and 20mil
Agree7
Disagree0
I imagine Arsenal are interested, but I doubt saints will want to sell. Neither will they have to, unless Morgan tries to push it, which I sincerely doubt he would.
Agree2
Disagree0
They can have Guly, read on here he wants to leave, could be good all round.
Agree3
Disagree0
I hope we don't sell Morgan but as Arsenal are panic buying now we could push up the price and look and see if we can bring in another player before any deal is done. Arsenal should look at Anzi for players or any in Spain.
Agree2
Disagree0
20m plus either Walcott or preferably Chamberlain seems about right at this late stage of the transfer window.
Agree1
Disagree0
Why even post this when it's obvious that it's not happening. 1 - He is happy here, believes in NC's visions, and signed a new 4 years deal the day after the Newcastle game last season.
2 - We don't need the money!
Agree2
Disagree1
30m and 30k a game!. I think Wanger and his pals would be mad to try to do business with the Don with their trousers round their ankles!
Agree1
Disagree0
Who the hell is going to want to play for Arse now?! They're a laughing stock! I'm sure I'd rather play for a club ripe with excitement and enthusiasm throughout.
Agree1
Disagree0
Why would he want to move to a team struggling just above the relegation zone LOL
Agree0
Disagree1
Spider out for £25m+ then banega in. Love him but can see it
