Saints could still enter the transfer market in this window but realistically the priority is to move a few players out now e. g. Hammond to save on wages in the short term and increase the Christmas window budget. Problem appears to be that these guys are on premier league salaries and championship clubs can not afford a fee and the high salaries.

We will struggle to shift Hammond, Lee and Sharp. They are on ridiculous wages so only a loan with the loanee club paying part of their wages will happen. All will sit out their remaining contracts.

Wee should just terminate the contracts

Agree1 Disagree1

If we terminate contracts it will cost the total wages owed unless they agree to a cut. Better to send then on loan and share the cost.

Terminating the contracts could cost more than having them sitting on the sidelines

Southampton FC are rumoured to be monitoring Adem Ljajić of Fiorentina, following new developments at the club. The club are now thought to be actively seeking a transfer of the player who only has a year remaining on his contract. The 21 year old attacking midfielder is thought to hold a price tag of around €20 million. Liverpool, Milan and Arsenal are also interested in the player, though as of yet no club has submitted a formal bid.

Southampton to spend another €20million? I doubt we have that much left in the budget for this summer having already spent over £30million.

Agree9 Disagree6

I hope so just looked at his stats and he looks pretty good, but do we need another ACM when we already have Ramirez

Agree6 Disagree3

I think you'll find it's Liverpool that are in for this fella.

Agree5 Disagree3

^ weren't liverpool in for Gaston Ramirez? That was when we'd just been promoted, now we've had a season in the prem, have a very good manager and signed players like Wanyama, Lovren and Osvaldo southampton are a very attractive prospect

Agree8 Disagree3

I see this is being fairly realistic to be honest. But if he does move, it'll be on deadline day, where clubs will force the Viola to accept an even further reduced price or lose him for next to nothing in Jan or a Bosman next summer.

Agree8 Disagree2

We're not gunna spend another 20m don't be ridiculous, we may get a winger but someone who doesn't cost to much, probs under 6m

Agree2 Disagree5

They need a bit more quality out wide - and preferably with some pace. Lallana and Rodriguez are decent squad players only. Ljajic might fit the bill, but he'd cost a fortune.

Agree4 Disagree6

Hope its true. Would show the ambition of the club (I know its said a lot) but spending 50+ mil would show we have ambition to be a CL team.

Agree7 Disagree0

Some people need to wake up and realise that yes we have good players but we don't have world class players in most positions. Chelsea have an incredible midfield yet continue to strengthen. Do you honestly think llalana and Rodriguez would get in to top 4-5 teams. We need players that are capable if getting us into these positions. Stop protecting these players just because they are 'nice' and can score us 6 goals a season. We need world class NOT 'good' players.

Agree4 Disagree7

Whilst I agree with the above poster. You forgot the word eventually. We do not need to run before we can walk. We do not want or need to spend an absolute fortune with one season behind us in the EPL. We need stability and we need consistency. Comparisons to Chelsea are just ridiculous. They have been at or near the top for seasons and need to keep that up.
I would be ecstatic with mid table. We then build on that.

Agree7 Disagree1

We don't need an AM if we are playing 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1
