I have spoken to a business associate today who has a contact quite high up at southampton. This contact told him that saints have no plans to spend big on anymore players during this window. Fullback and striker cover maybe acquired if price is right. It seems £20m spent thus far was bulk of budget. Shame we did a high quality striker and centre back imo.

Believable4 Unbelievable20

Absolute Rubbish we bid for Damiao but obviously he didn't want to come or the bid wasn't high enough. Only a handful of people will know the budget and I am 99% certain your 'Business Associate' wouldn't have a clue

Agree12 Disagree3

Agree same as in January lot of noise linked with everyone but never bought anyone And truth be known we were never really going to?
Talk is cheap?
If no striker comes in at the very least we will stuggle this season?
We need goals is that hard to understand! Most amount of chances made but scored very few!
That tells me were the problems are?people need to take off there rose tinted glasses thinking we going to Finnish top half if we don't score goals there will be only one outcome! Down

Agree6 Disagree8

We need a striker one that will score between 15-20 goals can't rely on ricky to do it again I love him and that but he ain't le tiss

Agree5 Disagree4

Most realistic rumour for a while.
As for going down.
We scored plenty of goals last season
Cork missed start of season
Ramires missed a few weeks
Shaw and boruc wasn't regulars from the start
We have signed two top players (defensive minded)
We had the youngest starting eleven on more than one occasion. Can only improve IMO, with or without a striker

So far I'm not too impressed by Saints transfer dealings. The Lovren deal was OK. He's got pedigree and at 23 is probably going to get better. Wanyama I'm not convinced about - I think he was very overpriced and I'm never convinced about players from the Scottish League.

We still need a striker and some pace as well as decent cover for the full backs and another first choice centreback

Agree2 Disagree5

Cortese in an interview said a lot of players he want to bring through the academy. Pocc is well known for working closely with youngsters. I can see a lot of cover coming from our youth. In turn, will attract top youth players as they can see a chance to get first team football. Saint will not be signing another 5 players. It's just not going to happen. One more quality signing if any

Agree5 Disagree1

This 'rumour' is absolute rubbish. Anybody who claims to have information via 'a friend of a friend' ought to be ignored outright. Unless, of course, your 'business associate' is friends with NC himself, Les Reed, MP, or Southampton FC's accountant.

Saints wouldn't go in for multiple strikers (I. e. Osvaldo, Damiao) and then suddenly decide "actually, we don't need a striker anymore, and. woops. looks like we've spent all our money anyway". Absolute rubbish

Agree3 Disagree1

Our squad is more than good enough at the moment to get us to mid table so don't panic about relegation. Loveren and Wanyama are both very good signings

Agree4 Disagree0

jayrod will come through this year. him and Lambert score 15 each there still mayuka we don't need a new striker. now we got a bit of money you wanna ditch lambo n jayrod.

Agree2 Disagree0

If this is true then we will probably be the only team in the EPL not to buy a striker this window.
I think most people can see that we need another goal scorer and I'm sure MoPo and NC will do the business, but it could be deadline day as the top strikers wait to see all their options before they make a decision and this window has over a month to run.

Agree3 Disagree0

This is hilarious! Utter nonsense.

I once met Leon Crouch in the concourse at half time at an away match. We chatted about the match and ourselves. Does that mean I emerged with our secret warchest & financial info? Course not!

Agree2 Disagree0

So. let me get this right. you have an acquaintance who has an acquaintance who NC has told this to.

Brilliant. well. I spoke to a fortune teller in a gypsy tent who states we were going to spend a gazillion pounds.

Your move

Apparently we have registered an interest in Igboananike. A Nigerian striker who plays in Europe.

Know nothing about him. It's on newsnow along with forte going out on loan

Believable2 Unbelievable3

He plays in Sweden. But they say getting a work permit will be very difficult. I don't know how the work permit thing works.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed052's Note - It makes no difference where he plays. It matters what his nationality is}

He doesn't seem that prolific. 7 goals last season as a striker in an inferior league is not that impressive.

Lenny

Agree5 Disagree1

^ it's not just goals scored though, you could put messi/neymar/van persie in a team that doesn't create chances and they would score very few

Agree4 Disagree4

He didn't score 7!
He scored 9 goals in 17 games.
Not a bad ratio.
Jay rod only got 7 goals last season and IMO did very well for his debut prem season.
Let's be honest, he's valued at €500k so clearly not going to set the world alight. But I'd take a punt, with our development team could be a solid striker.
Plenty of midfield and defending options.
Bit short uptop though.

Agree3 Disagree1

Can't see him playing in lamberts position, more out wide along with punch, jrod, lallana, isgrove, mayuka. Ramires in behind striker, with jwp as cover.
Hence need for out an out cf. osvaldo, personality aside, would be perfect fit
Saintsmiff

Agree0 Disagree1

Why take a punt on players like this when we have the likes of Mayuka, Sharp, Lee who all haven't had a chance yet? Mad to waste money on average, unproven strikers.

Agree5 Disagree1

Have you seen his finishing this year? Looks a very good striker to me!

Agree2 Disagree0

Sharp and Lee are both for sale so your point is invalid!
So bar lambert we have mayuka as back up.
Mayuka a player who in the latest Africa cup of nations, didn't hardly get a game.
JayRod is clearly preferred in a slightly deeper role.
€500k valuation is nothing,
Let's be honest ramirez earns about that in 3 months and he's been piss poor so far for us.
Id take him.

Saints are keeping tracks of Romas interest in arsenals Gervinho, Saints want him on a season long loan with a clause meaning saints get first refusal on a permanent transfer next summer for £7million

Believable6 Unbelievable28

He's awful.

Agree22 Disagree6

PA! Incredible. Probably the best one I've seen this window.

Agree15 Disagree4

Ive heard this. but heard the fee would be £8. 2

Agree2 Disagree12

Please god NO

Agree11 Disagree4

No no no just no

Agree6 Disagree4

He is a quality player that is constantly played out of postion and because of this is devoid of confidence. Would be a good signing.

Agree5 Disagree6

Agree, If he could regain his confidence he would be a good signing. Fast, direct, good dribbling and willing to take players on. His Arsenal days were not his best, but I saw enough of him that season to see he had some good qualities. A realistic target for a team that will not be able to get the world class players that we desire. It will add to the already frustrating attacking players that we have :) (Lallanna, Puncheon, Ramirez, Jrod, Mayuka). But when they get it right "it's ohhh sooooo right!".

Agree6 Disagree3

I doubt there's anything in this, but feel many of you are being too dismissive and quite ignorant and arrogant to think Gervinho is not a very good player. Granted, played out of position he hasn't done a great deal at Arsenal, but I would be very happy if we signed him. He won't light the world up, but he'll certainly improve the squad. Pacey, skillful, young and sensibly priced at around £8m.

Agree6 Disagree3

Agreed with the two above players. With confidence, some good coaching with Pocahontas is meant to be good at, I think he could do well for us. Experienced and like many others we have, has massive potential and a good amount of skill that needs unlocking.
Makes more sense than going for some of these stupidly high costing untested players.

Agree6 Disagree3

He's awful

Agree5 Disagree6

I think he would be quite good if the best was brought out in him. But this rumour is rubbish surely? Loan deal with a clause to buy him? Why not just buy him? Can't remember our last loan deal either. Should have said saints were interested
Ssintsmiff

Agree0 Disagree1

Why are people even responding to this post? It's complete tosh

Agree4 Disagree1

I reckon we're going to sign Osvaldo. I think all the guff has just been because that's how Italians do business in selling their best players

Agree0 Disagree4

Our last loan deal was Hooiveld, who we ended up taking the option to buy and also due to him already playing for us we where able to complete the deal out side of the transfer window. So could be plausible.

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually it was some Spanish guy from spurs forget his name.

Saint IQ

Agree0 Disagree0

Last loan deal was Iago wasn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Falque, ok we have had loan deals lol
