Hi ed is there any truth in the rumours about saints bidding in the excess of £20 million for Damiao? Heard that we are in talks with the the club and that a fee is close to being agreed with them. I really hope so would be a massive sign of intent and show other xlubs we aren't scared to spend the big money

{Ed001's Note - sorry, I don't know. }
If this Damiao deal doesn't go through soon we will miss out because if Bale goes to RM for the crazy 100mil they will buy every top player on the market. They have been trying to sign Damiao for 2 years. They could afford both Damiao and Soldado!

^we can afford both

Levy is tight and I don't believe he would recklessly spend to get two players.

Who will go to Spurs if Bale goes? It is currently a one player club and will not be that attractive for players if he goes.
Agree1
Disagree4
Spurs will be ambitious in the transfer market as they have already proven. But, I'm betting a huge amount of the fee will be set aside for the new stadium costs.

Eric Dier is expected to sign for Southampton in the coming days. He will join up with the main squad allowing Turnbull and Stephens to return to the under 21s for the short term future. Chambers and Isgrove will remain as a part of the main squad as they are seen as vital parts of the main team for this season.

Weird signing if true. He's not good enough to play in the first team yet.

I really like what I've seen of Turnbull, I think he could be challenging Jos for his spot and with time and games even challenging fonte as well.

Don't see why it would be weird. I do suspect there may be one or two youngsters brought in to supplement the youth development we already have. This guy can play CB and full back, so if he has real potential it could happen-and could be the opportune moment with Lisbon in financial difficulties.

Someone posted this rumour on another site (a Manchester united fan; not sure why he would post anything on the topic unless he genuinely knew something).
Internacional have rejected an opening offer of 14m from Southampton for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao. Leandro himself doesn't seem keen on joining the Saints but they still intend to come back with a second offer and hope to persuade him according to sources.

Seems a very low bid considering his valuation. Going to cost a lot more if we pull this off.

Another one holding out for a 'bigger' club potentially

Internacional have said they want 22million for him

Classic bartering. If we went in with £20m, they'd want £25m. It's a sign we'd probably end up dealing at around £19m.
Agree4

Why would we bid £14m when it's common knowledge that £18m bid was rejected from Napoli.
Just because he's a United fan doesn't mean it's any more valid. He probably heard it from his neighbour who heard it from Alan the postman.
Agree4
Disagree7
Not necessarily more valid but on the other hand, there is less of a reason for it to be completely made up.

Possible link to dier, he plays for sporting Lisbon and is a young English cb/ dm.

Saw him in the U20 world cup. Didn't stand out - wouldn't say he was obviously a better bet than Stephens or Turnbull as a prospect.

Not sure if rumour is true but do recall reading an article in one of the national papers about this guy and thinking he could fit into Saints plans. I think he has had a couple of good seasons at Sporting Lisbon and is highly rated by them. He is young and English, worth a look in my opinion.

Hey ED001, any more info as to who we're after with these Lisbon talks?

{Ed001's Note - no mate, have been out with my daughter all afternoon, just got in, so not had a chance to talk to anyone. }
From a Spurs site so not sure on reliability, however. Spurs & Saints both interested in Rodrigo Moreno Machado!

Bruma, perhaps? 18 year old winger wanted by Chelsea after starring at the U20 WC and has terminated his contract with Sporting so is available on a free (although that might be in dispute).

Saints are heavily linked with Argentinian attacking midfielder Pablo Andres Gonzalez , he has an Italian passport so a deal looks possible, he looks an exciting player, very creative, just what we need if Ever Banega is not joining us.
Believable6

The downside to him is that he is 28 years old but for £2.5 million he might be a good player to get. 14 goals and 20 assists in one season is amazing and he can play in numerous different positions. From the clips I have seen he seems like a really decent player and for all you know he could end up being a new michu.

If saints are Rumoured to have offered £22 million to secure Mineiro's Bernard. It would be great bussiness as after the world cup this kid could be worth three times as much! If it's true but doubt it!!

Arsneal are after him so don't see that happening. 22mill for damiao would be better as that's what the asking price is and he wants PL football and with spurs after soldado looks possible

Arsenal have been told 22 million will be accepted so if we offer that much it will be accepted same as arsenal it's just player talks that matters

According to the papers, Scott Sinclair is on our radar. Don't know about this signing as pochettino loves to play down the centre with the full backs overlapping. We don't tend to play with wingers so I think this rumour is made up. What do you guys think about this?
Believable3
Unbelievable5
Would be a great signing, still young, fast and has bags of potential, him and damiao and were sorted
Agree3

Doubt he'll pass a medical until after the transfer window, as he can't train fully for another month yet, it would be a good move as he can play down the centre but I don't see us taking the risk

Think you will find he is on his way to Everton.

Apparently he's already stated if we went for him he would join us because of Jake being on our books, think his words were "I'd love to team up with my brother" so if we do it would seem like it's a done deal as soon as it starts. With regards to Pochettino preference to play down the middle, Scott is very good at cutting inside to the middle role so would give us pace on the wings if that's where the opening is and with his ability to cut inside it still gives the going through the middle option

Southampton are said to be lining up a £6.7 million bid for Duvan Zapata of Estudiantes. The 6"2 versatile Columbian forward has become a target since West Hams pursuit of the striker failed due to work permit complications.

Apart from the fact he is 31. More likelihood of us signing Prince George
