I have it on good authority that saints where not going to sell lallana to liverpool and wasnt going to carry on negotiations as the deadline had passed.

Lallana then made a huge fuss about not being able to leave and Koeman stated that he didn't want him at the club if he didn't want to be here so approved him to leave.

I shouldn't be posting this but I hope people realise lallana is far from the respectable person people though he was. Other storys I've heard are how arrogant he is out of all the other players. When they visited the hospital he demanded xbox ones for him and the other players so they were not bored this also happened at a photoshoot. Also many players like lambert and fonte etc would spend a long time signing autographs for fans who waited though lallaba would only sign one or two and walk straight into the stadium as he "couldnt be arsed"

Im not bothered he's gone my only conerns now are will anyone else go and will the replacements be gambles or proven quality.

I also have some inside knowledge of Lallana, before he arrived in Brazil he was not pushing for a move and was quite happy at Saints. Something has happened in the last 7 days to change his mind. I cannot comment on any of the above post.

Surely there must be some way we can demand the return of the player of the year award? I'm thinking some sort of West Quay 'Christmas lights spectacular' only with more torches and pitch forks. Seriously I haven't felt this put out since I got my brother to sit my driving test. And he still didn't bleedin pass.

Agree15 Disagree5

{Ed003's Note - lmao}

27 Jun 2014 21:14:28
Likewise I cannot comment on the top post and nor would I. I had heard that he had been pushing for the move and had been unsettling people.

That aside, I wish him all the best. He has done us proud and wants to better himself. I can understand that.

whats wrong with him wanting to further his career with a big club, get over it

Agree6 Disagree17

^Kevalle, I agree completely however like many I think it is the manner in which it occurred after all the badge kissing/ chest thumping celebrations & signing a 5year contract stating he would see out his career at Saints. It just seems a tad disrespectful & almost sticking two fingers up at us fans. I don't begrudge anyone wishing to further their career but there are better ways of going about it i. e luke shaw. I bet Danny Ings wouldn't be this disrespectful (he's from Netley you know) coyr

Agree22 Disagree1

Am I correct in that he will now still get his "loyalty" payments from the career defining 5 yr contract that he saw out a year of?! i'm a big fan but surely saints have viided that in some way. Would almost suggest the same for Shaw.

OR was that one of the reasonw for signing big long contracts, so that the club could ask for shed loads if clubs came in for them?!

Agree7 Disagree0

Reading stevo comment I knew he could go with out mentioning Danny ings have u got some sort of weird fetish about the bloke stevo??

Agree3 Disagree4

Confirms what I said previously. There was a story about Liverpool changing their interest away from Lallana because of the high price tag.

This was a tactic to unsettle the player and it clearly worked, given all the timings discussed above. And a tactic to force Southampton to reduce the fee.

Players and agents decide transfers nowadays, not clubs. Clubs can't afford to keep unhappy players

Agree3 Disagree2

That is incorrect, I think

Agree0 Disagree5

Well i'm working off scraps of info but thete is deffinatly something wrong behind the scenes.

Does anyone know what jesus had said about the reason him and mopo etc left was because KL planned to sell within two years?

Also lovren apparently said something on twitter that was quickly deleted but outraged a lot of people what was that about?

something is going on behind the scene
just wish someone on the board would come out and be honest for once

wll sorry to post this
just reading todays paper
morgan schneiderlin says he has told saints he is going when he gets back from the world cup
if koeman gets 100 0000000 is that going to be enough to replace those player that have left
lovren is definetly going which makes it even worse
thats more players left saints than what have left the 3 teams that got relegated
WHY IS THAT OVER TO YOU LES REED FOR ANSWERS
forestsaint

Agree3 Disagree4

28 Jun 2014 17:25:55
I think the problem with that statement forestsaint is 'just reading today's paper' journalists are out to make stories from nothing. No need to worry who and what we hae until the end of the transfer season. With some wise moves in the market we can replace shaw and lallana if he does leave.

Agree1 Disagree1

If it is true about Lallana ten I suggest that if he scores against us that everyone in the crowd who is a Saint should turn their back to him. Out of all the players leaving I am very disappointed in him, especially after what he had said in the last year etc about wanting to stay at Saints. I would be very disappointed too if Morgan goes too, Ricky I can understand plus at his age the money we got was good business, But Lallana has left a tter tastein my mouth

Agree0 Disagree0

I done think there is anything "going on" behind the scenes at the club at all. In my opinion we are getting ready for the next phase. As Saints media recently stated that the funds would be reinvested for Roko to build HIS team for the coming season & years to come. Yes we may be in for a bit of a conildation season but in no way will we be relegated. With Lambert, Shaw & soon to be lallana gone we have just pulled the pants down of those clubs doing the buying. I've no doubt we will do the same with spider & lovren when the time comes. Remember, before the world cup spider was not a full international at senior level. In the space of 6 weeks his price tag has gone up insanely. In fact the increase in price may work to our advantage in pricing him out of previous clubs range? In my opinion we are learning from the lessons of last season i. e lack of squad depth & using the "self sustaining" model we are selling some key players at top price to fund the next core group of players to take us forward. Yes, next season is hardly going to be better than last but I think we are building for something bigger & better. I'm excited.

Agree7 Disagree0

Why the excitement Steve, if we uilt something bigger and better, the big clubs will just come along and do the same as they have done now. Unless this club becomes a big club then I don't see it ever changing. I cannot understand how Saints cannot become a big club, very club started small, even Manchester United etc, its lack of ambition and passion from the club and fans that holds us back, let's face it we only have 15000 season ticket holders, if the fans showed more commitment i. e double that, then maybe someone might come in and take us further, I don't see the Leibherrs doing this I'm afraid

A very worrying rumour doing the rounds that we are interested in Bendtner.

Give me strength!

He is one of the worse players Arsenal have had in years.

Believable18 Unbelievable4

I saw a betting company's response to this tweet. Something along the lines of 'sorry Southampton fans, the news just gets worse'.

But yeah this is clearly a load of *censored*.

Agree9 Disagree0

If we sign bendtner koeman can pack his bags and do one! Les Reed can also toddle off and the owner might just as well tell the fans to bend over and collectively take one!

Agree11 Disagree1

27 Jun 2014 19:52:01
I do hope this is rubbish. please.

Agree5 Disagree0

I must be the only one not bothered by this. He is obvioulsly wouldn't be our first choice but he is FREE and as squad players go we could do a lot worse!
People were calling for Billy Sharp/Tadanari Lee to be given chances when they were in a squad, IMO he is better than those two.
Get him and Mayuka as back up for Pelle and another top striker.

Agree7 Disagree4

Got to be better than nothing, could be one of those players that struggles at one club but thrives at another. Doesn't mean a lot I know, but he's got a pretty decent international record

Saints could have their first signing Monday - Graziano Pelle. Fee supposedly around 10m Euros

St Brad

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Personally I don't want Pelle due to his attitude

Agree5 Disagree10

Let's hope so and hope he does well

Agree8 Disagree2

Pelle and Osvaldo, that is the attacking partnership referees would fear most.

Agree12 Disagree1

We'd finish most games with 9 men!

Agree8 Disagree2

27 Jun 2014 19:53:46
Pelle has an incredible scoring record. Whether that is transferable here is another matter. He and osvaldo together would have the potential to scare the plop out of every team

(Including our own. )

Agree13 Disagree0

Major reservations about Pelle. 29. No pace. Laughable record in Italy. Questionable temperament.

Don't think he's a good fit at all.

just as something different from transfer news, anyone out there have updates on new kit or have I missed something again?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2014 18:41:19
Should be announced in quite a long time seeing as we still have to find a new kit supplier

Agree2 Disagree2

Sometime this coming week I would think, to tie in with the start of the Veho sponsorship although if we have some new signings, SFC may wait until they are onboard before a photoshoot of new players in new kit.

Agree1 Disagree1

It'll be between the 1st (when veho's contract starts) and the 21st? whenever the first pre-season game is.

home is supposed to be like Norwich's, white on the top, red on the bottom. Apparently the away is similar in colour and style to the 2000/01 away

Rafa Silva and Dusan Tadic being lined up. Also Timothee Kolodziejczak.

Believable14 Unbelievable5

I'd rather buy English. I hope the sale of Shaw (and Lambert) won't lead to the domino effect of home grown players being replaced by others that have no premier league experience, there is no guarantee that they will adapt to the football or culture here.
G. Ramirez looked great before buying him, and well he's not really delivered, and at what cost.

Also, hopefully we would have had the clout to have lined up suitable replacements (better than those that were sold), are we going to lose the Southampton way under the new board?

Lallana also looks set to leave - leaving just 18 first team players.

Agree3 Disagree6

If they got Rafa, Tadic and Kolo I think that would be a reasonable trade off, with plenty of change left over I'd assume.

Don't go English. Too expensive. Big time Charlies.

Agree9 Disagree2

27 Jun 2014 16:40:37
We have good players coming through at all levels but they aren't quite ready. The club will ease them in by giving them bench places or cup starts.the club know what they are doing.
We got Koeman because he fitted in with the "Southampton way" so I wouldn't worry too much about a change in tactics.

Agree7 Disagree1

I think Taggart will go straight in to replace Shaw, like Chambers went straight in to replace the injured Clyne last year, I think we have a great replacement in JWP and even Ramirez for Adam but even so would love to go for someone even more ambitious like Shaqiri, that would really show that we mean business!

Agree10 Disagree1

I also think Koeman is a fantastic coach and that we could see a huge improvement in some young players, particularly the likes of Stephens, Turnball and Debayo as they'll be learning from one of the best CB's of his generation and a Dutch and Barca legend!

Agree3 Disagree1

I hope you're right irw

I'm cautiously optimistic but would also like to keep the squad intact, I suppose my expectations are unrealistic

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree, English would be too expensive. We have a conveyor belt of talented english youngsters coming through anyway (Reed, McQueen, Targett, Rowe) on top of the likes of Chambers, Ward-Prowse and Gallagher we don't to buy other club's talent.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think because clubs like chelsea and Manchester United have already spent around £60 million each and the other top clubs are starting to buy, that has quietened talks about Rafa Silva, making him more available to teams like southampton, i'm not sure if we need both him AND tadic, but considering the money we have now I think we could sign them both up along with pelle.

Agree4 Disagree1

Those buys would be amazing I agree a good and fair trade off! If we get van djick as well we will be fine! Yes ads, rickie and shaw going are going to be tough to replace but I for one have total faith in Saint Ronald and his back room team! Pelle will be awesome and Ronald will get the best out of osvaldo!

Agree4 Disagree1

If we are all honest surely Nicola and then poch leaving pretty much meant that the dream (unrealistic as it was) of winning the league was over and I say unrealistic because I couldn't see us going out and spending 35/45 million on one player like all champion winning teams do.
We pretty much knew shaw and Lallana were off - and fair play to the board for the price we got.
Koeman would have come in knowing that they would be leaving and would have started recruiting replacements.
I personally believe that 7th is the best we could hope for this coming season and with the right purchases is still very possible. Players move on and Adam and Luke been great for saints and deserve there chance to progress quicker then we could offer.
Rumours and inside hear say are ( prob nothing new but it's what I've heard)
No keeper news: defenders, caulker very interested in and talk between clubs have started, lad from Celtic who I can't remember to spell is of interest but not as great as reported in press. Kolo of interest. Midfielders tadic is the big hope but silva is also being discussed. Unsure about forwards but I believe a lot hangs on the nutter the currently have staying or leaving.
I'm impressed the board have sorted out the sells early - though don't rule out others going- now the fun begins as a fan watching us spend it. Top work so far board
Phil

Agree3 Disagree1

Don't buy English? Big time charlies? What are Osbaldo and Ramires then? It was the English "big time Charlies" (your words qwertyell) that got us to eighth in the premier league last season and dragged us from the depths of league one to one of the most attractive sides in the prem, yeah big time Charlies eh mate? Lol seems like a lot of saints fans have short memories and will sell their souls and the clubs soul for a few mediocre foreigners. Be careful what you wish for as we might end up like those fishy characters down the M27. Buy English! Lol

Agree6 Disagree1

28 Jun 2014 12:01:35
And Morgan Schneiderlin, Dejan Lovren and Jose Fonte had nothing to do with any of our success last season. We have a really good crop of young English talent. But to strengthen the depth in our squad Surely looking abroad is a good cheaper alternative. How many other English players are good enough on the ball to replace Lallana?

Agree1 Disagree3

27 Jun 2014 13:49:25
Shaw is a Utd player and now I hear that we have agreed a fee in the 'region of' £25m with Liverpool for Lallana.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Yeah it's all good, obviously koeman has given the go ahead and wants em out before the squad returns for pre season and presume he has replacements in mind/deals lined up!if it was end of July I'd be getting worried

I'd take Jack Rodwell if the price and wages were right. Fits the bill, might not make the starting 11 all the time but would improve our squad.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Think a lot of the younger English kids at clubs like city just rotting in the reserves surely just wanna play football so will take a pay cut not like they are going to be on the bread line is it,

Agree2 Disagree1

Just think back to how gutted everyone was when we lost Poch. now with Koeman it's "Poch who?" Great news could be just around the corner. Have patience. The future's bright.

Agree3 Disagree1

I'd take Rodwell, but not if we're going to play him in CM as we have enough players there already, if we maybe moved him to CB, then yes that could be good, as someone before said on this sight that a lot of people said he'd end in that position anyway

Agree2 Disagree3

No thanks - one of England's poorer performers at the World Cup. I really don't rate him.

Agree3 Disagree2

Hmmm. mungochutney. which world cup were you watching?

Agree6 Disagree4

Yeah Rodwell was carp at the world cup, did you see the way he dropped those orange segments and spilled the Bovril at half time? lol

I've heard that Danny Ings was spotted in Southampton this week so think the signing is close. Can you confirm this eds? coyr

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - Ings is regularly in the area mate, I wouldn't read anything into that.}

Danny ings is from southampton and has family that live in southampton so guessing he is there for them?

Agree3 Disagree0

Shame. couldn't think of a better back up striker than someone like Ings. A young, home grown talented striker, with bags of potential who is a boyhood Saints fan. Probably not good enough to be our main man but would be a great squad player

Agree1 Disagree3

SteveO, seriously! Stop posting about Ings, we know you want him you say it in every single post you write.

He's okay, but got a bit of attitude, as he's from the area (Netley), I've heard he thinks he's better than he is. - Ings isn't world class, so at least show a bit of ambition when writing who you wish will be at the club, please.

Thanks

Agree9 Disagree1

Lol steve's desperate for us to get ings ain't he

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Jun 2014 14:39:00
Ings had 1 good season . don't make him good enough for saints. I would pick rhodes anyday over ings

Agree4 Disagree2

Actually Danny ings is a nice lad. Not sure where you've got this attitude thing from. He's a saints fan but has said before he's reluctant to play for saints. And he does have family here so yeah don't read to much into local sightings.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ings rumours are gathering more pace but the valuations are currently miles apart.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daily Mail reporting it now. Do you think we will announce him as a Saints player next week ed?

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Jun 2014 11:46:17
I rate Ings. And everyone saying he isn't ambitious enough for saints. I don't know if anybody remembers another Burnley player who only really had one really decent season before moving over at 22 years of age. Think he shows just as much promise as Jay Rod. With up to £70 mil to spend this transfer window we have enough money to really strengthen our squad. Strikers were a week area for us last season so any steps to strengthen our depth here is surely a good thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 07:37:37
The way I see it, Shaw going pays for Staplewood.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Or even the cost of stadium expansion!!

Agree6 Disagree3

You'd need the entire royalties from George Bernard Shaw to pay for that place, the shower that built it were a skate firm, I know I worked there, what with their cock ups and Cortese changing his mind every 5 mins about things we will need to sell all our players to pay the bloody thing off

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 06:41:06
twitter says that the Luke Shaw deal to United is close with him having a medical in the north west 'very soon' and a transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

If the deal is anywhere between the £30-40 million mark with a good structure (less add ons, more guaranteed payments) then I say sell him for sure that's crazy money.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Good bit of business. Steady player with masses of potential, but seems to have got a bit ahead of himself recently.
Fingers crossed the funds will be reinvested to stable the ship, I'm hopefully optimistic now Koeman's on board though!

Agree2 Disagree0

Looks like £30 million, according to several reports. Probably paid over 2 years, which is typical. No indications of any clauses but they are likely as well.
Most transfer fees are constructed like this. paid over time (which is what "up front" means) with clauses as well.
No surprises. A fair fee.

Agree1 Disagree0

Newspapers were reporting Southampton turning down a £34million offer at the weekend and now we've apparently settled at £30million? Not that I claim to know anything about the true figures but my guess is the press have no idea so don't take their word as gospel.

Agree1 Disagree1

The £34 is prob worked out over international apperances, international goals eetc. 30 is more likely 20 -25 up front with some add ons and they pay the 25% to bournemouth

Agree0 Disagree0

The "up front" means a sum of money paid over a period of time, it does not mean one lump sum.

The differences in total amounts reported are another indication that fees are paid in a staggered manner.

Liverpool offered say £30 million over 2 years plus clauses. Saints demanded say £27 million over 18 months.
