Rumours suggesting the board could be giving £100millon to build a new squad for the saints! Personally I'm sure they will be giving him funds for players but I don't think they would allocate that much. Any truth in this? Also new kits to be released in coming weeks.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

100m not a chance prob buy 4 players at around 40m tops

Agree8 Disagree10

Perhaps once the transfer business is concluded for this window, we could pour the rest into the academy. Make the best better.

Agree4 Disagree2

DSJ 20V, I am pretty sure we will be bringing in more than 4 as we will still need a squad for next season. But yeah can't imagine more than 40 million will be spent on said new squad.

Agree5 Disagree4

£40 million spent on players will probably cost the club £100 million over the full length of the contracts

Agree4 Disagree5

The club offered poch £50mil plus player sales, can't see why it'd be different for Koeman

Agree8 Disagree2

Because we've sold players

Agree5 Disagree0

I think the 100m is realistic as a transfer budget being talked about.
I thought it was 40m plus player sales though?
Anyway my concern is that number is just being said to make the fans happy.
Honestly I don't think we will spend more then 30 mill this window.
I really hope I'm proved wrong but it just looks like a asset stripping at the club at the moment which could mean a sale is likely soon. (the club not the players)
Again I hope I'm wrong.

Agree4 Disagree5

Absolutely no way was MoPo offered £40 or £50 million plus player sales to spend on transfer fees alone. Nor will Koeman.

The above figures might be right but they will be for the entire transfer package, including fees, bonuses, wages, signing on fees etc.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think it is very clear that we are not asset stripping. Yes there are a couple of screw ups in the background which we know most are from the old regime i. e kits however, you only have to look at the spend going on in the infrastructure like coaching staff (most recent being sammy lee), stadium upgrades like the led lighting, pitch being dug up at end of season for something (can't recall why but maybe something to do with heating or drainage?), new positions created for club staff & of course the academy. As I mentioned in a previous post, yes we are getting top dollar for our "better" players however this is being reinvested back into the team. Ok, so all of it might not be reinvested in this transfer window or next but we are building for the future.

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree with steve098 we are the first club in Europe to have Led lighting. why would we invest in something like this if we did not have ambition and a vision for the future. koeman has been told he will receive £50 million plus the sum of all transfers from people wanting to leave this in fact could raise to over £100 Million. I will pass judgment after our first game, until then I have faith that we are being told the truth however a signing or two would ease saints fans fears. Koeman starts work tomorrow - hopefully some good news soon

Agree4 Disagree0

Nice to read such an engaging post from Stevo, keep it up mate!

Reports in Italy saying Morgan and Sanchez to arsenal done deals

Will the last one to leave St. Mary's please switch off the lights.

One or two players moving on I can handle, but with all the names being mentioned it needs more than a rebuild.
Our recent success has been stability and togetherness - that's gone and with the heart ripped out if our team we could be right in it next season.

#BringbackCortese

Agree17 Disagree5

Also coming out of France now too

Agree2 Disagree2

No need to switch off the lights. The money we've got coming in. I'm sure we've got the cash to pay the electricity bill ;-)

Agree4 Disagree4

Why bring back Nicola? Someone who was great at what he did but with some one else's money, if someone came in and took hold of your finance and then over spent by double on the training facility etc ( and we are not talking pence. Only 15 million over spend then you prob wouldn't be happy) at the end of the day though he helped get us to where we are, to continue on his route would have lead us back to league one bankrupt and off he would prob go in to the sun set. Yes we lived the dream but it wasn't his money and I'm sure if it was then perhaps it wouldn't have happened.
I can't believe that Koeman came in just to sell players surely he will bring in players to suit our needs so people please chill and enjoy - as though it may well go wrong, we could well enjoy a great season so I for one am looking forward to doing what all fans should be in backing then team/board/new manager. Cheers Picky

Agree12 Disagree6

Ramirez looks pretty good tonight maybe he is happy about the departures so he can get a game?

Agree9 Disagree2

We still can have a strong season IMO
It's obvious the players are turned by the clubs showing interest. But let them go, koeman will be given time to build his own squad. We won't be looking at instant success next year. So unless the players want to commit to the next 3 years, they are no good to koeman in his eyes. Next year will be a tough year, but mid table wouldn't be bad news in the long term. It's rumoured shaw is on a 160k, lallana prob hit jackpot, spider too, it's now or never for those players. 160k!

Agree7 Disagree3

Just letting players go when they want is not setting a good example to the youth

Right people, it's time to take off those rose tinted glasses. Think we'll be the next Sunderland next season. Reckon we'll bring in around 6-8 players meaning we'll be about as fluid as a tube of dried up 'No more nails'.
Personally, I'm livid about all these players leaving. The players may push for exits but it's the board that has the final say and it's disgusting. I foresee a load of square pegs in round holes next season and I really do think we're struggle. Last season we represented everything good about football. This season the opposite is true. I'm fed up with the Premier Leagues rich boys destroying our game at every levels wake the F up everyone.

Agree8 Disagree8

Mikeysfc: spot on!! As a club why can't we tell players they are staying? Liverpool did it with Suarez (jaws) and he then had the best ever season he has ever had!! Fact, and he is happy at Liverpool.

Lambert, shaw and now probably lallana and that one is most disappointing, lallana wanted to play I'm the new letissier card but making out he loves this club so much.

Does he realise he is causing a massive storm in the squad? He does not care about southampton. I'm more worried about other players leaving, spider, lovren. We need to say NO!! Your staying end of! They will get over it soon enough as long as we are doing well.

We now have in my opion a better manger that we had before (upgrade) and along with the new world class training facility our youngsters will be even better!!

All we need now is for Koeman to not allow anyone else to leave, and add some quality to the squad to give us some depth and I actually think we potentially have a better season then the last. COYR!

Agree12 Disagree1

Calm down everyone. Adam gave us 14 years and stuck with us when we were playing in league one when he could have pushed for a move back to the prem.

He is 26, wants to experience the champions league and keep his england career going. If it was you what would do? When he returns to st marys I will be applauding as he has been a terrific player for us.

As for shaw he (and his agent) have gone for gold. He is a great prospect and at 34 million quid of united money we would have been mad to say no. Panic at old trafford in my view. he is 18 no champions league experience and just three england appearances one of which was a competitive game. We know he is good but the expectation at that price and that club will be huge.

Koeman has a job on that is for sure and if we do lose two or three more players he will need to rebuild team sprit and playing style.

Liebher has not sold us, we have a new board, manager and what will be a different squad from last season. Could just be exciting for us.

Agree10 Disagree6

67saint, why would Adam have pushed for a "move back" to the prem when we were plying league one football when he hadn't even played in the prem prior to us going down to league one. When we were in the prem before this stint, he was playing in the youth team, I went to see them and him on that run to the fa youth cup final, he didn't make his first team debut until we were down in the championship. I am afraid he had his head turned and it has left a nasty taste in a hell of a lot of saints fans mouths, you applaud him, hope the rest of us turn our backs on him the way he turned his back on us

Agree8 Disagree1

67saint: so so wrong!! Lallana just before the World Cup said how his future lied with us. All emotional at the club awards!! Load of bull! 2 weeks later he wants to leave! Out of order after all the fans and the club have given him

Agree9 Disagree1

Lallana had an attitude problem back in league one, he thought he was too good for us then and almost went to fulham. He's wanted out for most of the last 5 years. In no way am I sad to see him go

Agree6 Disagree1

Personally I think it is important for the club to show the parents of recruits that southampton can be gateway to the big time. I don't think we could realistically hold people back

Agree3 Disagree7

^The Dell daze- just picking up your commont that we will be the next seasons sunderland. Just wanted to check you mean the same sunderland that beat us 3 times last season, reached the final of the carling cup & also the sixth rd of the fa cup. Despite buying a large amount of players their only screw up really was appointing di canio as manager & then following the carling cup final they had a bad run of results - a bit like we did after the chelsea game & managed to pick up injuries to most of the first team. I do get your point however & I think perhaps Norwich would have been a better example? Anyway, the players incoming will be a much higher calibre than the 2 teams mentioned & some will have the experience of already playing under koeman so bringing in 6-8 new faces doesn't bother me as it isn't the same as sunderland or norwich. Also, a lot of people seems to be ignoring how many signings liverpool are racking up currently plus how many they are linked to.

Agree4 Disagree2

Saint jones forgive my ignorance on adam and the prem but you get my point I think. turning your back will not change the fact that he is a very good player and was was for us as well of course. and your anger may be better directed at MP who pushed off after one season when a'bigger club' came calling.

Thanks for sainty saint saint for pointing out that he almost left us for Fulham. I guess you would call that a lucky escape.
Look at what we have achieved over the last five seasons, look at what is place for us now compared to five years ago. Koeman will need to build his own team let's support him and the players.
Will you be turning your back on rickie as well when he returns or are there a set of rules written down that enable turning your back on certain players who have left the saints?

According to reports on twitter saints are going to sign 3 players on Monday pelle tadic and van dijk and 9.5 million accepted by burley for ings personally don't believe it but will more than happy if it's true

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Really hope we don't spend that much on ings, no way is he worth that, plus whose buying players then as I doubt koeman has heard of him, trust in les reed, I don't think so

Agree8 Disagree3

I do wish I could believe you, well at least on the Tadic, Van Dijk and Ings side of things. Not so sure I want to see Pelle join us given the fact we've already one moody striker in need of offloading.

To be honest if we are raiding Feyenoord for players I'd rather us go for Clasie or Martins Indi. Signing those two on top of Tadic, Van Dijk and Ings would give me a renewed hope about this squad. Although we still would need to consider cover for each loss made this summer as well.

Agree4 Disagree3

I don't believe it either as I stated, if he bangs in 20+ goals I can handle a tantrum every now and again

Agree8 Disagree0

And tadic plays for fc20

Agree4 Disagree0

People worry far too much about players' personalities. To me, considering it's the only time Pelle's done something like that, shows more passion for the team than genuine anger, I'm sure there's a few people on here, myself included, that have let's say 'expressed their feelings' when saints have thrown away a lead, especially to a last minute goal. Pelle's is the same, it's just that it's on camera

Anyway, imo Pelle, Tadic and van Djik would be fantastic, add kolo and maybe Michu? and we'll probably have a better squad than we finished the season with

Agree6 Disagree1

I am aware Tadic is at Twente? A bit confused why you needed to point that out?

I gather you don't believe it but thanks for posting these rumours as I am not on twitter so wouldn't find out any other way these posts existed.

I also do take your point SaintsSaintSaint about Pelle. It is relatively isolated as an incident but I still believe better options must be around for us to look at than Pelle as well and of the Feyenoord team there are others I would rather see us sign.

Agree2 Disagree0

Soz miss read it way I read it sounded like u emplying taking all feyonords players my bad, if Morgan goes got to be 20plus mill?

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't worry about it Smirky, I have a track record of confusing people with the way I phrase things.

I'd imagine at least £20 million for Schneiderlin. To be honest you'd hope the club to hold out for Adam Lallana type money for both him and Lovren because they are really critical key players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Morgan going for less than 20mill arsenal desperate for defensive midfielder and wenger under pressure to spend this year

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2014 17:11:40
We would stupid as a club to let any more players leave. We have already lost 3 key players. If Lovren or morgan leave we have taken away the whole spine. The board need to put their foot down now and just tell players we can't afford to loose them this season. We need to take power away from the players. I know they say you can't keep unhappy players but at the end of the day if they sulk and under perform what club is going to want to buy them in the future. Rebuilding a whole team in one transfer window doesn't work, Look at Sunderland. We need to keep as much of the chemistry in the team as possible and just strengthen now
