Lambart, Sharp, Lee? Grant Holt springs to mind! J Rod is agreed, and all 3 names mentioned will do fine in the Prem. In fact I would say that sharp or Lambert would do pretty well in the Euros. And before you all jump down my throat....... I remember people saying that Chambo wouldn't do well at Arsenal let alone the Champions League!
Agree4

Think Lambert will do ok in prem, similar to holt but I do personally think Sharp will struggle, good 'fox in box' but no pace at all. Whereas although Lambert also has no pace his overall game/awareness/shooting ability/hold up play counters this, this is 1 area saints are let down in lack of pace, although de ridder has it but not yet clicked. This is why we've gone for jay rod over hooper, although by all means not a whippet he does like to run with the ball

Yeah but that's where good old lee comes in and he is one speedy nipper
Agree0

Lambert is better than Holt, always has been, so stop comparing the two!

Raffael of Hertha Berlin is on Nigel Adkins' radar. They were just relegated so maybe a cheap player to pick up.

Oh great, linked with another player that wasnt good enough for their current league.
Agree5

So Junior hoilett wasn't good enough for the premiership then? Get a grip.

Or matt jarvis, yakubu, robinson to name a few?

Relegated teams doesn't mean every individual player is useless!
Prime example: Podolski was relegated with Cologne and now is playing for Arsenal... would you turn his signature down? No of course you wouldn't!
Muppets on here think that Southampton are too good for relegated players, we need to be realistic and make clever, cheap investments. Not just buy big names already in the prem.

Hey Saints fan Ireland here great to see them back in the big time. Just looking at the rumours here few decent players mentioned. Ince looks like he might be the part alright phillips better in my opinion. Think there is better options out there proven players is what we need for first season back and build on that. As for Hooper I just think its a huge risk id bang a few goals in Scotland :).. Look at McDonald and Boyd really struggled in championship premiership is another step up again. Yak i know an ex pompey but know where the net is 17 goals at a very poor Blackburn side. Lukaku would be decent loan signing I think. Def need a keeper to push davis aswell and a cb with speed think we lack abit of pace there.

Am I the only saints fan who wants to keep Puncheon, he played well for Blackpool when they where in the prem and in my opinion is our 2nd best winger behind lallana

Puncheon has obviously really upset Adkins. We don't want anything to disrupt the dressing room. He can be a very good Championship player, but not Premiership. Get rid.

Phillips and Ince for 5 million + Puncheon

Newly promoted Southampton FC are looking to beat Swansea City at the eleventh hour to the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. He is available for £7million and Saints' chairman Nicola Cortese has authorised the transfer. While Sigurdsson spent half of last season on loan at the Liberty stadium, he is believed to be keen on living near his former home outside Reading.

If he was to go back to newly promoted club, Mcdermott (manager of Reading) would want him back mon his side yet again.
