Italian papers are today linking Saints with a €10m bid for Italian international centre back Davide Astori.

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Would be just like NC, but be wary. The Italian press are even worse than the UK press at pure fabrication.

Agree3 Disagree4

Wouldn't mind a defender of his quality, think he would bring a lot to our squad and improve the players around him. Still think we need a genuine out and out goal scorer to work alongside Lambert.

Agree4 Disagree6

The Dejan Lovren rumour sounds more likely to me, but I would like to have a player like either of them join the saints.

Agree2 Disagree5

This is not true and denied by NC. Saints are looking to bring in Besart Berisha from Brisbane Roar to help RL up top.

Agree2 Disagree7

Berisha has been great in the A-League, but it is the A-League...
I'd rather just recall Billy unless we bring a proven scorer in.

Agree1 Disagree2

HA! Berisha...that's funny. Will never happen. There are far better and far younger attacking players in the A-League - such as Thomas Rogich, who Reading have made an offer for I believe.

Hearing a few people saying Nahki Wells around SMS this morning. He's a 22yo Bermudian striker who plays for Bradford City. Although i just googled it, done a bit of digging and saw Cardiff City are also interested in him.

Believable3 Unbelievable15

Would be a good addition, certainly an upgrade on Jonno Forte. Not sure if he could walk into the Prem team this season. . . BUT ! A future strike partner for Jay Rod ? Now that sounds like a plan, right age, has a real energy and enthusiasm for the game.

Agree4 Disagree13

He signed a contract extention at the end of september 2012 , so unlikely

A few rumours that I've seen today.

Southampton scouts have been watching Bradford's Nahki Wells. With Cardiff and Peterborough also interested.

Birmingham City rejected a £6M bid from Saints in the summer but would accept a similar offer in January.

Charlton want to keep Dan Seabourne for longer than January. May end up being a season long loan, but they're wanting a permanent deal

And a long shot: Man City are looking to offload Joleon Lescott for £8M in January, not out of our price range and fits the bill for what we need

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Lescott fits what we need, his pay check demands dont.

Agree14 Disagree3

Right...
1. Wells is scoring goals for fun at the moment, confidence high. Would be a great injection of energy and enthusiasm for the saints strike force.
2. Assume that your talk of Birmingham relates to the keeper. Rumours are Birmingham are going to have to sell in January to balance the books. Not sure Butland is a high wage earner so may not be worth selling
3. Dan Seabourne. . . dare i say it, would be good for us at CB if we go down. He needs to play after his little nightclub incident so a loan makes sense
4. JL is a huge long shot, but would love to see the club get him in on loan
Go Saints!

Agree1 Disagree4

Yeah sorry. 2nd one was relating to Jack Butland (Birmingham one)

Agree1 Disagree3

Forget Lescott he is out of our league, not finance wise but he is now used to playing at a higher level than us and i think he would want a team still vying for top six, spurs arsenal and i know they are not their at the mo but liverpool have the history to attract him.

Agree3 Disagree4

Wells, may be a good finisher but strikers are not a priority, Lambert and Rodriguez can finish when given the service.
Butland is over-rated and wouldn't be worth 6 million to Southampton. Saints need to sign a good keeper who is consistant. Butland has struggled a bit in goal for Birmingham and made more mistakes than Gazzaniga.
Seaborne would be a decent signing for Charlton hope to get a fair fee for him though.
Lescott's wages are far too high to be worth it. We can do better with our resources and bring in a long term talent along the lines of Gaston Ramirez (only a defender of course).

Agree4 Disagree4

There's no way Lescott will come to Saints after winning the Premier League last year. Ridiculous rumour.
