Southampton to sign a left back before the season starts. Also they will sell lee Barnard for a fee around 800k.

Believable11 Unbelievable9

I think the fact we were looking at one before we sold a left back shows this is a given. I'd also expect a cb or two and another goalkeeper as Davis only wants one more year and gazzaniga won't be ready by them. I think Adkins wants two competitive players for each position so can rotate to confuse teams.

800k? I don't think so. More like £250k that we paid for him.

Agree4 Disagree7

We HAVE to sign a left back before the season starts plus NA stated we definitely would be

Agree6 Disagree5

Unless Luke Shaw can step up and play all season - we need to sign 2 centre backs or we are likely going straight back down.. I think we will sign a right winger too, and we need to hope that Lee gets fit to play left wing. I'd love us to buy a centre forward aswell as we seem very weak at the top level upfront.

Agree3 Disagree7

I think Gazzaniga will surprise us, I feel he will play in cup games this season and if Davis is injured, and he will be ready by next season, he made some good saves in the Ajax game.

Whilst it would have extra cover, we have a perfectly capable player in Fox and Shaw is excellent cover. What would we do with a 3rd left back??
We are more in need of a left winger, now tghat Lallana is playing down the middle

Huey

Agree4 Disagree4

We have punch to play LW, were not getting a left sided player!

JustASaint

Agree3 Disagree4

Left Wing, right wing, 2 centre backs and a target man mobile centre forward... And to be safe another keeper.

If Lee can get fit he could play wide left. I dont think the others we have in these positions have got enough for the prem league.

Agree2 Disagree5

Lallana is a wide midfielder. He's no good down the middle. He's not strong enough and he cant do his tricks and make crosses like he does on the wing.

Lenny

Agree5 Disagree9

We have puncheon, derids, jayrod and guly for RM. If we sign anyone there it will not be the main priority - CB is - and it will be a class player costing alot.

Agree8 Disagree2

Against Ajax lallana played down the middle and was different class

Agree7 Disagree0

I think alot of you are forgetting that these players earned this, and deserve a chance in the prem, tree will get a CB and LB maybe a RM but that's it, these players deserve this chance and want to prove it!

JustASaint

Agree3 Disagree1

Saints need a center back ,left back as shaw looks good but to young, goaly as gazaniga looks ok but to young and not proven ,left winger as lallana is best in the middle behind stikers picking out passes and making saints tick. Why would we want to play jay rod on the wing ? please let me know your veiws.

Agree2 Disagree1

We really do not need another left back. Shaw will be fine in the premier league, skill, control, speed and intelligence is required and Shaw has it all, just lacks experience. Fox isn't bad either

Agree6 Disagree2

Also, Lallana is England's closest player to a David Silva with the exception of Wilshere maybe, Lallana is most definitely a player who should be in the middle with little defensive responsibilities. David Silva has proved you don't need strength if you have the control, so I rubbish that comment earlier saying Lallana is a wide player. He should be in the middle behind the strikers with freedom

Agree5 Disagree1

I would personally want to see our defence strengthened, we have players who can fill the left & right wing positions, but i think we need 1 maybe 2 centre backs and a left back. Shaw will benefit more from an experienced left back as an understudy rather than understudy to Fox. Fox deserves a chance, but defensively he will get torn apart by the likes of Man City, Utd & Chelsea.

SAINT IN THE USA

Agree2 Disagree3

No Shaw is to young like its been said many times! yes he has the skill but lacks minutes and could make errors but in time he will gain his place but that time is not this season, he will play bit parts and we will get a LB

JustASaint

Agree2 Disagree5

Wallace of Rangers is a great player, I see Aston Villa and Stoke are watching him but I'd prefer he went to you Southies because you are honest men, I'm a Rangers supporter. Franco RFC.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 is not too young it's been proven time and time again. And any left back saints can afford or will get will get the run around by man city, utd , arsenal ect that is why there top of the league. It's the rest of the teams we need to worry about and I think the lad and Fox will be just fine against the vast majority of the Prem.
Peace
JJ

Agree2 Disagree0

Lallana if deinenately a wide player. In the middle he can't do any of the things he can usually do!

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree2

Lallana can play in the middle and does the same as when he plays on the wing. Getting a fee for about 550k for Barnard will be good. Also shaw won't be able to step up into the first team so we will need a left back.

Southampton linked with an ambitious attempt to re-sign Theo Walcott despite being linked with Chelsea and Tottenham etc as well as having a price tag of 15 million and high wages.

Despite being unlikely, Southampton were rumoured to shocking English football with a certain transfer. Could be Walcott, but is doubtful.

Just a rumour, source is CaughtOffside.

Realistic Saint

Believable18 Unbelievable10

It is actually true, NA has enquired about walcott whos contract runs out at end of season, we can afford a player for £15 million. and his wages demands are £100k per week. some people forget just how rich southamoton are. this can happen, just depends what walcott wants to do - chris

Agree14 Disagree7

Any its on ss paper talk

Agree7 Disagree6

I understand that Ricky and Lallana has a clause in their contracts that ensures that they are in line with Saints top earner. This meant that they got a pay rise when Jay Rod joined.

With wages of 100k a week I cant see Theo coming home. Personally I can see him going to Spurs to link up with Bale

Agree8 Disagree6

I really really hope not, money better spent elsewhere

Agree8 Disagree8

I don't think the transfer fee is the problem but he must be after three times our top earners! No chance IMHO.

Jannersaint

Agree8 Disagree3

Apparently arsenal want Luke shaw, so maybe we could use that in a deal if it is true that we want Walcott!

Agree1 Disagree11

I think Luke shaw will be better than wocott but having wolcott would be amazing he was real class for us before He left and he hasn't really done it for arsenal. Could probably put a bid in for 10 mill and see how they react. Wages might be a problem but if he has a bit of loyalty he could take a bit of a hit.

Agree8 Disagree6

He is only leaving Arsenal becuase they won't increase his wages. He won't join Saints and take lower wages. As good as he is, he's not worth 100k a week. That would just mess the whole club structure that we've been building for the last 3 years anyway.

Lenny

Agree7 Disagree3

Why does everyone want shaw a make weight for other players with got the best 17 year old left back in britain

Agree9 Disagree1

I dont think we would let Shaw go. I dont doubt we are interested in Walcott - I dont think he is on anything like 100K a week - I doubt even half that. They were saying that they were going to break the wage structure at Ars and pay Van Persie 80K. Walcott could get 100k at Chelsea etc though.. I think it is very unlikely we will get him..

Agree2 Disagree2

I think out chairman is genius! GENIUS! What better way to signal that are no longer Arsenal's poaching field, by bidding for Arsenal's best player, as they seek yet again to poach our talent. Massive impact! Now do they get it!?

Agree8 Disagree3

Would rather see Adam Johnson

Agree7 Disagree1

Walcott is just very fast. His end product is poor. £15m may be about right as his pace will open up teams, but £100k a week is stupid money for a player like him.

Agree3 Disagree4

I'm sorry (re post above) I can't agree that his end product is very poor. He did a fantastic job for us in the Euro's, and has torn defenses accross europe apart. (liverpool, ac milan, barcelona) If you think his end product is poor then I would like to know who you think is better in a similar target range. Thanks, Lost

This is a TRUE enquirey.
Southampton have shown their intent – by making an audacious enquiry about Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott.

Arsenal remain hopeful of seeing off interest from Southampton, and will this week reopen talks with Walcott’s advisers over the 23-year-old’s future.

But the newly promoted Saints want to take Walcott back to his first sporting home. - chris
