I thought there were two
one for espanol a cb
and
rw or lw for valencia

No just the one Victor Ruiz. He used to play for Espanyol under Pochettino before moving to Valencia. I think that is where the confusion is coming from.
Agree6
Disagree1
Espagnol means Spaniard - meaning he's Spanish
Agree0

Weirdly Victor Ruiz has also played left wing as well as centre back - but there is only one and he has played for Espanyol and now Valencia. I have a feeling Pochettino might see him as a holding midfielder nowadays

Apparently we are going to bid for Hiroshi Kiyotake. He plays for FC Nuremburg and he is an attacking midfielder. He has scored 4 goals this season and had assisted 10 times.
Believable3
Unbelievable6
We seem to like the Japanese a fair bit at Southampton.
Agree5

Very good with set pieces
Agree3

Attacking mid with only 4 goals in not a brilliant league.
Agree4
Disagree6
Not a brilliant league
the two champions league finalists are from that league
Agree5

But if you have seen his set pieces and wonderful through passes. His playmaking skills are exceptional and he tries to set up other players than trying to score which shows a level of unselfishness. He would be a great buy in my opinion.
Agree6

I think the marketing opportunities in the east cannot be underestimated. Probably why our home kit went red (a very lucky colour across the orient) and we bought lee and yoshi. This seasons new home kit likely to be red for that reason IMO and I can see us getting a major signing such as Honda.
Agree5
Disagree1
We must have ran out of spanish players to name we have started on asian players now
Agree2
Disagree3
He would be a great buy.
To the guy that said he shows unselfishness, I think we need someone who is willing to take a shot and be a little selfish on the ball. Too often have I been shouting SHOOT on match day when they're passing around the edge of the box until they inevitably lose possession.

This is why we should get the beast that is Eric Lamela who has like 18 goals from midfield this season!

Anyone know when the Aap3 contract is up? Heard that part of Cortese's bargaining was to put Liebherr sponsors on the shirt

I think the sponsorship changes this summer.

I've heard from a friend that the contract with AAP3 will be terminated. Shame really, a local business.
Might not be true.

We're going to get sponsored £100million a year by the Leibherr family to get around financial fair play rules. (Seriously has nobody spotted flaws in the fair play rules like this?)
Agree10

Aap3 supposedly pulling out because they can't cope financially with others now were in the premier league.
Have heard Red Bull. But the Leibherr thing is quite interesting. Very astute and very Cortese.
Agree4

Heard that the prem has cost aap3 dear financially so can t carry on with the sponsorship for this season
Agree3

At least for aap3 they have got a massive amount of advertisement.
I was thinking the same about the shirt sponsor the other day, its ok for mega rich owners who want to millions into the club.

I asked ED if we were showing strong interest in Lamela, and this was his reply:
{Ed001's Note - yes. The biggest issue is sorting out his ownership. Then they have to persuade him to join. Money is there though. }
I still find it hard to believe tho

Seriously wouldn't be surprised if Lamela isn't the only 20mil + signing saints make this summer. NC wants us in Europe and is willing to spend big to get there, plus this is the last season before the financial fair play rules come in, so definitely expect a few big names in
Agree3
Disagree3
He's exactly what we need to improve. We've been dominating games recently but unable to finish so what we need is players like Lamela with that special touch. If we get a striker who can compliment him well enough we'll be in the money. But he's not going to be easy to get.
If we succeed though all we'll need is some cover to improve our options for each game such as replacing Fox, Hooiveld and possibly adding to our CDM options so Schneiderlin and Cork can have a break in a few games as they run a marathon a match.

Absolutely no chance this will happen

Ye shes what we need please can we get lamela NC COYR

Love Ed's posts. It's the only time I have faith in the credibility of the rumour due to obvious inside knowledge and connections.
Agree1

If there is genuine truth in the interest which frankly I trust Ed's information, then there is every chance it could happen given Cortese's ability when it comes to negotiations.
Agree0

^lol. Hope we get him, fingers crossed.

Roma paid 17.5m euros for lamela in 2011. How much will he cost now?
Agree3

All depends on if Lamela wants to join our project and if any other clubs (possibly in CL) are interested and also wanting to stump up the cash

New rumour for the day, Pirlo to Southampton, photo has appeared on the Twitter feed with PI RL0 as the reg. (looks photoshopped!)
Believable2

Def fake, no one from Southampton is there at the moment
Plus why would Pirlo drive to England? When he could fly, or, just stay in Italy whilst NC is there

I think the fact its a GB plate makes it unlikely

Not sure what to read in to this but usually the Ed's on the LFC page seem to know there stuff this was what was posted earlier:
Hi Eds,
Not really Liverpool related but what's the story with Lamela?
Thanks
Benito {Ed001's Note - only thing I know of regarding him is Southampton are seriously interested and have spoken to his club about him. No idea of any details or anything else, just that their interest is genuine and they are willing to pay a substantial sum for him. Your idea is as good as mine on what substantial means, but they met Gaston Ramirez's asking price, and I am told they would have no qualms spending more than that for Lamela. Apparently it was one of the things Cortese insisted on, when the board was having talks with him, that there would be a large amount of money available for transfers. Obviously they have to spend that wisely, Lamela would look a wise investment though. }
Would love this to happen would be a very good signing
Believable10
Unbelievable3
Surely Lamela is pushing our luck though?
Agree5
Disagree8
Yeah that's what I thought when I originally saw the post on the LFC site, but Cortese certainly has ambition just depends wether Lamela would fancy a move to us or not, saying that thought Gaston had both Spurs and Liverpool wanting his services and I was shocked we got him only time will tell but really hope we can pull it off if genuine interest is there.
Agree8

We've got some big plans, wouldn't be surprised if Lamela wasn't our only £20m+ signing this summer

Marquee signing to replace Ramierz

Would love this to happen, with the added bonus of realling annoying the scousers for a third time

Come on guys, less than 2 years ago we were signing players like Chaplow, Forte, seaborne etc for next to nothing! I know there is money available, but some people are talking like £20m is nothing.
Mini-Saint

I would really love this to happen but it will be difficult. We managed Ramirez because he was at a smaller club. Roma are a huge club; it won't be easy to prise Lamela away from them to join us - a work in progress.
Lenny
Agree7

Whether you are genuine Saints fans or not, being negative and questioning Saints ability to pull off big signings because we are not a big club doesn't make any of you more creditable in your opinions.
When Liverpool were after Ramirez, their fans made videos of him to big up the idea. No problem with that, it just shows ambition by the fans as well as the club.
I have no view on whether we will get any of these big targets, but if you don't know to the contrary, putting down Saints chances shows a real lack of ambition and not the realism that I think some of you are aiming for.
If we don't believe good players should come to Saints then why should the players or their agents entertain the idea?
St Ripper

I don't doubt for one second that our interest in lamela is genuine. It was no surprise to me that we got our best results against the better footballing teams but lacked that little bit of extra quality when trying to unlock lesser teams defences. The top teams have those types of player. Mata, Corzola etc. That's why NC tried so hard to get Choutinho. It's all about whether the boss can persuade players of that type and quality to buy into our ambition.
Agree5
Disagree1
If the club is after top 6 next season, then they know the remaining parts of the "jigsaw" will need to be a bit special.
Saints are certainly interested in Lamela. Right age, quality and the nationality could be quite important ref. MP and his influence.
Don't see the complexities ref. his ownership a problem Wasn't this the case with Ramirez too? NC is perfectly capable of sorting such issues.
Just hope they can get this one done quickly as it would certainly assist the club in attracting other players to the club.

I hope this is true. When does the transfer window open? Is it the 1st of June or July because I'm like a drug addict when it comes to the transfer window and signings are my fix! {Ed003's Note - July}
Agree1
Disagree1
20 mil isn't the issue, its not a crazy amount considering our ambition. It is not delusional to believe we are capable of pulling this off. There is a definite feeling amongst Saints fans that we are in a special situation when it comes to our club being serious about challenging for europe and wanting to spend money on quality players. The issue lies with whether Cortese and Poch can pursuade them that our project is a project worth joining. I think they'll have a very good chance as Cortese is the DON.
