Not saying I believe it, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. Its no more unbelievable than any of the other players we seem to be linked with. Lots and lots of uninspiring loans. Hope I am wrong but this looks for all the world like a team preparing short term fixes with a view to sell. Actually, if that's the case I hope she does sell!
Happy to loan Bertrand and the inter players but that's enough loans. Hard to build a team around loans. At least one good enough to stay up. And its not like we can't afford to buy. Happy with Tadic and pelle but need more of that kind if we hope to do more than just battle to stay up. And I don't mean champions league here which was never realistic to begin with! I mean mid-table safety.
But laughing at any rumour with this board in place seems too much like tempting fate.
Agree3
Disagree2
Vectis, you say you're not a fan of loans and we shouldn't go there, then say you're happy with the 3 loans we have done. I imagine you will also be happy if we take Gnabry on loan?
Just saying! :-)
For me
Let Morgan and Jay leave, the £50m will also be good
Bring in
Van Dijk
Vlaar
Forster
Hernandez
Rodwell
Gnabry
Total £50m?
in my humble opinion we then have a squad to challenge for Europa at least!
Agree2

The loans have buy options so they are really 12 month call options - sensible investing strategy

It gets worse!
Daily Record (Scottish paper) says today that Samaras is considering a move to Saints.
Him and Nugent are both Championship level imo
Agree3
Disagree1
Actually I didn't say I was against loans. I think they are sensible options especially if its a view to buy kinda deal. But it would seem we currently have enough money to avoid bargain basement shopping at this time.
Or maybe we dont. All those debts cortese ran up coming home to roost?

Taider deal is complete and expected to be announced today (Sunday). Also I heard we are very close to finalizing the Schelotto deal.

He (taider) was in America yesterday?

Whether he was in America or not, the deal, photos, interview etc have all been done. He also confirmed himself on twitter as a Southampton player. Both players are following southampton fc on twitter also which is no coincidence.
Agree8

How can someone disagree with him being in America. He was on the bench for inter.
Some of the comments or agree/disagreements on here sometimes just make me laugh. These people would make great journos, as they are to lazy to do any actual research.

Taider yes please and seems done. Clasie yes especially if we lose Spider. Zaha yes, definitely if we lose Jay. Herzandez yes. Butland or Forster yes pls. Lascelles from Forest yes and one of Vlaar or S.Vrig or Indi. Plus Rojo is possible. If we lode Spider and Jay maybe get one of Will Hughes or Redmond. If we did that I think with Bertrand, Tadic and Pelle plus JWP, Targett and Big SG kicking on I think we actually have a much better squad than we had at the beginning of last season. Big if. Oh if only this were Football Manager!

His official twitter account has not confirmed it, a fake one may have done though.

Agree frenchman. say anything about the board or a player that someone doesn't like and find all your future posts being disagreed by them. even if it is 100% factual. more childish than lazyness. no doubt the same people that have driven Eds from our page and other users.

No bush saint, still 1 - 8 - 1. In football you have 10 players on the field in formation with one in goal.

Taider did not confirm the transfer on twitter - that was a fake account. His official account has no mention of anything.
Rumours still persist that he doesn't want to come to Saints.
Schelotto's official twitter account, however, has just started following Southampton FC.
Perhaps Saints will loan both, or perhaps Schelotto is their second choice swapsy for Osvaldo if Taider has turned them down.

I said this yesterday about Taider and everybody came on with the usual " having a medical, signing today etc. etc. " all paper talk to get you to buy. The same with Clasie a lot have said it's a done deal ( yawn) but the bookies odds don't think so and the same with Rodwell. Bookies know better than these jumped up sensationalist journalists, the bookies don't give good odds on cast iron certainties. One paper actually said that Koeman had confirmed Taider had signed but there was absolutely nothing from the SFC official website and that is the only source you can trust, also whatever you do never ever believe what you read in the Echo either, I am sure they do what we do and follow NewsNow or similar. Anyway do we really want Taider? Never heard or saw any interest in him until we were trying to offload Osvaldo the Clown, we must be desperate.

{Ed007's Note - And bookies only give you odds on their made up stories to make money, they're no better than the sensationalist journalists, they all want your money one way or another. Sly Spurts News is the worst, they are a mongrel version of both tabloid journalism and a gambling company.}
Just wish there was not so much rubbish coming out of the mouths of manager and chairman at sfc. " will spend ALL the money from transfers on New players" no sign of that. Kruger. :-)"we sulphate 2 to 3 New players by weekend" nothing doing Ron. Just say nowt and get on with it.

I totally agree Ed but my point is that all this fact which is actually fiction affects the supporters perception of the board. They see these stories and when nothing comes of it they blame the board for not acting quick enough or being penny pinching when really there was no believable source for the story. The board would be making statements every 10 minutes if they had to refute every made up link to players. Point taken about the bookies but they would react with their prices like a dog down a rabbit hole if they heard something that had any credible substance. Appreciate your comments.

Well I guess we are getting to that point when we shall see if they were weasel words or not! Need to sort that central defence and get some pace and a cutting edge up front. Still think everything is moving so so slow, but we shall see. Les knows what he is doing, doesn't he?

Taken from tribal football this morning
Southampton could be set to sensationally end their summer of woe with a £70m spending spree with the money brought in from their countless player sales, according to the Daily Mail.
The Saints are lining up a triple raid on Manchester United as part of this quest to bring in replacements for their departed stars, with Javier Hernandez, Ashley Young and Wilfried Zaha believed to be their main targets.

Schelotto's first season in Serie A was very successful, he was quick and decisive, able to dribble past most players and retain the ball. After that season he moved from Parma to Inter and was a complete flop, he played poorly for a season until he was loaned back to Parma last season.
Neither myself (very positive) or other Inter fans (quite positive) cannot say anything good about him. He could become a brilliant player under Koeman but I doubt it.
(In comparison Schelotto had a similar career to Ashley Young - performed very well in the Aston Villa of Italy & then when he moves to their Manchesyer United he has lost his spark.)

Apparently Southampton have made a bid for young Danish RB Christoffer Remmer, who currently plays at FC Copenhagen. The player is highly rated.
