Southampton apparently looking to complete a near £40million double swoop for AS Roma players Erik Lamela and Marquinhos over the next few weeks.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

Think that's maybe the fourth 'double-swoop' Roma rumour I've heard, all different. Will be interesting to see us clean Roma out during the summer!

Agree7 Disagree0

Don't think that we will spend all of our budget on two players even if they are 2 quality and young players.

Agree7 Disagree1

I know people will disagree with this probably. But I am quite an optimistic fan but even I can't see us spending £40 Million on 2 players. I will like to so them in the squad but not at that fee.

Agree6 Disagree2

Lamela maybe marquinhos no chance

Agree5 Disagree1

Marquinhos is not worth 20 million considering lamela is around that price much rather get naingollin for at least 5 million cheaper than Marquinhos and can play in several positions.

Agree4 Disagree0

Marquinhos would be a great acquisition.
Only 19 but played a full season in Italy and knocking on the door as a Brazail internatinal.
He CAN play a number of positions, so would be excellent cover for Schneiderlin and can also play CB. Naingolan plays Midfield only, so different players all round. Would be quite a sum for a youth player, but could tunr out to be a World Class future star

Agree1 Disagree0

Marquinhos has been quoted at £30m. Lamela the same. So for both £60m.

Agree0 Disagree2

It just won't happen the players that saints are supposedly looking at ie astori, lamela, marquinhos are far too good to come to st marys saints fans need to take a reality check no one knows how much money we have but we are not a top 4 club and never will be

Agree0 Disagree7

"It just won't happen"?

Of course not and Saints never signed the European Player of the Year, did they! And that was when the club were hardly well off.

Take a long look and review what Saints have been doing since the club has been under the current ownership and ask yourself-where do we go from here? To me, it is just like piecing a jigsaw together and this has been done very carefully over the last few seasons to arrive at a position where it is logical to expect any further additions to be real quality. Much more likely than posts about Will Buckley and Le Fondre!

^ go and spend your Saturday afternoons in fratton park if you have that attitude

Everyone said Man City would never be a top ⁴ team, look at them now.

Everyone said Ramirez was too good to come to Southampton.

We will make at least one £20mil + signing this summer, probably lamela and at least one of the other players you've named will sign

Saints will be a top 8 team next season, maybe even top 6

Sit back and have some optimism or there's another team 25 miles away you can't support

Agree6 Disagree3

Never say never unnamed guy that I suspect isn't a saints fan.

Lenny

Agree4 Disagree0

Its that guy who's been trolling on here lately

Agree1 Disagree0

Top 8-10 at a push maybe but sixth? Come on let's be realistic. I love our club but 6th is still at least another 1-2 years away. steady progression breeds long term success

Agree1 Disagree0

Saints will do well to threaten the top 10 next season.

Saints will make two top quality signings per summer 1 in Jan per year until we achieve, at first stability then, European Football.

This will take time, the last talks with Cortese and Katriana were more likely to be regarding another 5 year plan than what could be achieved in the final 1. 5 years of this plan.

Southampton are working hard to try and sign these players this summer transfer window:

Davide Astori for 12 million, Jesus Gamez for 4 million, Radja Nainggolan for 15 million, Erik Lamela for 20 million, Hiroshi Kiyotake for 5 million and a striker either Adrian or Lukaku

Believable7 Unbelievable10

I'm not entirely sure why but I can no longer believe the idea that we are chasing David Astori. I think if we were going to sign him it would've been wrapped up in January and this is just the rumour following on because the papers have nothing new they can really talk about.

Agree4 Disagree3

Lukaku won't come as he will stay at Chelsea unless on loan, would rather Adrian permanantly

Agree5 Disagree4

What about wanyama?rather have him than kiyotake anyday

Agree6 Disagree6

I wouldn't read too much into the delay for new signings. don't forget that we have just signed a major kit contract with adidas & I suspect that we will not be releasing news on new signings until the kit has been released so they can be photographed in it thus boosting sales. Yes, i'm aware jayrod was pictured last season in a plain tshirt holding aloft a saints scarf but I really cannot see nc letting that happen again.

Agree4 Disagree2

Why do people insist on creating a new post to repeat someone else? all this post is doing is summing up the other rumours into one.

Agree5 Disagree3

Kiyotake will be more than 5 million I think and city had a bid of 20+ million rejected for Lamela this year if I remember correctly. To all the people critisising this post, at least its better than having nothing new on the page ;)

Agree3 Disagree1

I believe it was 22 or 23 million euros which equates to 17 or 18 million sterling pounds roughly
