Southampton apparently looking to complete a near £40million double swoop for AS Roma players Erik Lamela and Marquinhos over the next few weeks.
Think that's maybe the fourth 'double-swoop' Roma rumour I've heard, all different. Will be interesting to see us clean Roma out during the summer!
Don't think that we will spend all of our budget on two players even if they are 2 quality and young players.
I know people will disagree with this probably. But I am quite an optimistic fan but even I can't see us spending £40 Million on 2 players. I will like to so them in the squad but not at that fee.
Lamela maybe marquinhos no chance
Marquinhos is not worth 20 million considering lamela is around that price much rather get naingollin for at least 5 million cheaper than Marquinhos and can play in several positions.
Marquinhos would be a great acquisition.
Only 19 but played a full season in Italy and knocking on the door as a Brazail internatinal.
He CAN play a number of positions, so would be excellent cover for Schneiderlin and can also play CB. Naingolan plays Midfield only, so different players all round. Would be quite a sum for a youth player, but could tunr out to be a World Class future star
Marquinhos has been quoted at £30m. Lamela the same. So for both £60m.
It just won't happen the players that saints are supposedly looking at ie astori, lamela, marquinhos are far too good to come to st marys saints fans need to take a reality check no one knows how much money we have but we are not a top 4 club and never will be
"It just won't happen"?
Of course not and Saints never signed the European Player of the Year, did they! And that was when the club were hardly well off.
Take a long look and review what Saints have been doing since the club has been under the current ownership and ask yourself-where do we go from here? To me, it is just like piecing a jigsaw together and this has been done very carefully over the last few seasons to arrive at a position where it is logical to expect any further additions to be real quality. Much more likely than posts about Will Buckley and Le Fondre!

^ go and spend your Saturday afternoons in fratton park if you have that attitude
Everyone said Man City would never be a top ⁴ team, look at them now.
Everyone said Ramirez was too good to come to Southampton.
We will make at least one £20mil + signing this summer, probably lamela and at least one of the other players you've named will sign
Saints will be a top 8 team next season, maybe even top 6
Sit back and have some optimism or there's another team 25 miles away you can't support
Never say never unnamed guy that I suspect isn't a saints fan.

Its that guy who's been trolling on here lately
Top 8-10 at a push maybe but sixth? Come on let's be realistic. I love our club but 6th is still at least another 1-2 years away. steady progression breeds long term success
Saints will do well to threaten the top 10 next season.
Saints will make two top quality signings per summer 1 in Jan per year until we achieve, at first stability then, European Football.
This will take time, the last talks with Cortese and Katriana were more likely to be regarding another 5 year plan than what could be achieved in the final 1. 5 years of this plan.
