annoyed with 15 days to go we arent fielding our strongest team possible. only positive that i can find is that Jarvis isnt on the Wolves teamsheet at all. sign him up! :)

Realistic Saint

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Agree, doesnt make a lot of sense.. The only logic I can see is that we are still to bring in a number of players and hence NA is still looking at options. There appears little chance for a team to gel. The chances of us making a strong start this season are diminishing by the day.

Agree3 Disagree7

No RL, Possible injury ?. Paul

Agree3 Disagree1

There are 3 games still left pre-season. Do you want to have the first 11 trooping out at Man. City worn out and injured?
Pre-season is about bringing players up to full speed but minimising the risk. Adkins will have things he is still wanting to try out, plus he will have masses of electronic data to decide on who needs the games and when.

Saint Martin

Agree9 Disagree4

Stop worrying guys NA knows what he is doing
In NA we trust COYR

Agree7 Disagree2

1-0 saints billy sharp nearly half time

Agree1 Disagree2

Lambert has an injury as well as 2 other players not included. dissapointed Clyne not getting a full game as well as Jay Rod

Realistic Saint

Agree2 Disagree5

Lambert, schneiderlin, shaw all carrying slight knocks corky off at the olympics, Davis still not fully fit and players need to be given a chance to shine and work way into first team reckoning so chill out people.

Agree7 Disagree0

Lambert had a knock from training , schneiderlin and shaw also carrying knocks. wouldnt have even started if it was a leauge game today

Southampton set to take Ajax left back, Nicolai Boilesen on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Would be a good signing, looks like a future star LB.

Agree2 Disagree3

I think it's obvious you only wrote that becuase we played Ajax last week and you thought it would be more believeable.

Lenny

Agree7 Disagree3

We have Fox and Luke Shaw already. dont know how much game time he will have, however, we dont have to register Shaw in our 25 man squad so it is still possible. But i think Adkins will most likely let Shaw have a go if something happens to Fox

Realistic Saint

Agree3 Disagree1

He is a left sided cb he is like daniel agger

Agree0 Disagree3

No Luke Shaw in the squad for the Wolves game today.... hmmm

Agree2 Disagree4

I retract that comment. Shaw Lambert and Spider notified as being rested after knocks...

"Club Brugges striker Björn Vleminckx has alerted a host of top flight English teams with his announcement that he wishes to play in the Premier League. One team that has had him scouted is recently promoted Southampton. Vleminckx was top scorer for N.E.C two seasons ago, and has appeared for the Belgian national team. Reading, Aston Villa and Fulham are also reported to have shown some interest in the Belgian."

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Faulse, this rumor is no where on the internet

Agree3 Disagree1

Actually, sheffield wednesday want to go for him, if people dont believe me that its wednesday and not saints, just type "Bjorn vleminckx sheff wednesday" into google - chris

Apparently Adkins has decided to take the first team captaincy off of Dean Hammond as he won't be heavily capped next season and may be on his way out, he will name a new captain within the new week probably a player who has been at saints for a while, my guess is Lallana as he came up through the youth so will be able to identify with the young players but has so much experience in the club and knows the 'Southampton way'.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Lallana has been the most vocal on the pitch in pre-season matches, so would make sense. Especially now with a more central role. Heard rumour of young scottish winger maybe coming if his time gets knocked out of europe.. Guess mackay-stephen or james forrest.. redandwhitedee

Agree0 Disagree3

Mirgan sniedejlin

Agree3 Disagree2

IF it was taken from him you wouldn't expect an attacking midfielder named as skipper. I'd have thought Corky or Jos would be top of the list.

Agree2 Disagree2

It would probably be Steven Davis

Agree5 Disagree1

I dnt think we should give it to adz ... Still young and I feel it would be to much pressure .... My thoughts are either kelvin or Davis who has a lot of experience as skipper born leader! :)

Agree4 Disagree1

I reckon K.Davis. Most expirianced and looks like a good leader.

Lenny

Agree2 Disagree1

I reckon Lallana would be a good pick he's been around a while and knows the youth team having himself been a youth player not too many years ago. Lallana has been a saint for most of his life and Kelvin Davis is already club captain Lallana should have the team captaincy.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Keepers don't make good captains it needs to bean outfield player. Anyone that's played football will tell you you need your captain in the heart of the action and easily able to get his point across. You cannot do that between the sticks and your view of the game is very limited. I would say Hooiveld, Steven Davis or Lallana.

Agree1 Disagree0

Kelvin defo captin

Agree0 Disagree2

Kelvin was already team captain but they gave it to Hammond as he was able to communicate with the outfield better, doubt they'd give it back to him

Agree0 Disagree0

^Yeh Spain and Italy really struggled with GK's as captains this summer ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

^ That is true however Spain are a freak show there. They really are something special they play with no centre forward ffs!
And as for Italy- Buffon may well be the captain but Andrea Pirlo makes them tick and is very vocal in the middle of the park.

Agree1 Disagree0

A player doesn't have to be captain to be vocal though, communication is always key. Personally i like having a CB as captain, they should be able to see everything clearly, whereas a midfielder is often being pulled around here and there. However would i give it to Fonte-no. Would i give it to Jos- maybe but hasnt been a saints player for long.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you forgotten why kelvin isn't the captain now? He was, it wasn't working so they gave it to an outfield player and named him club captain. So no, it won't be kelvin

Agree0 Disagree0

Gk as captain is not rly that good idea i personaly think a gk cant give out the orders to the other players as well as an outfield player i think davis i know he is new but comes with so much experience

Jermaine Lens to sign for Southampton over the week end for a fee of 7.5 Million pounds (9.5 million Euro's). He should be a great addition to the Southampton squad and isn't the only player suspected to sign over the week end. Also Matt Jarvis is set to move to St Mary's for 5 million pounds plus add ons depending on performance by Southampton next season, the deal should be completed next week unless Jarvis decides he doesn't want to be a Saint. Final piece of news is Cortese has broken off talks with Blackburn over Scott Dann saying they have over-valued the defender (No figure was however given) and Cortese is not happy to waste money on players who aren't worth it.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

I hope this isnt a porkie pal, my hopes are now up

Agree6 Disagree0

Fingers crossed, im with the other guy though, my hopes are now high and would be gutted if this didnt happen. just need a few cbs im thinking at least 2 and maybe a younger 1 as cover and to play in the under 21 team for a bit. i liked the idea of varane coming in on loan, its not ideal i know being a loan and prefer permanent but if hes available hes a class cb. wouldnt want dann to come in anyway, never really rated him anyway. could see a signing each from the french and dutch league. i know some people might not agree but thats my opinion.

Agree5 Disagree2

There is an interview with Lens on dutch website yesterday saying he is looking forward to this weekend game between PSV and Ajax so I would say very unlikely he is signing any time soon.

Agree1 Disagree1

Disagree with the third post. Not sure why we would need a young CB. We have Martin at palace and jack Stephens has been a stand out player in the home friendlies I've seen. I'd want one good top quality CB to compete (with fonte). If we sign Lens and Jarvis I will be soooooo happy.

Jannersaint

Agree2 Disagree5

Sorry to disappoint all you believers, but what a load of crap, he is playing today Sunday 5th Aug in the Dutch Super Cup against Ajax and scored.

Agree1 Disagree0

Jack has been good but Callum Chambers has been pretty impressive in my opinion
