Apparently saints have rejected a bid from Leeds for Billy sharp, 2nd bid to be submitted this week

Mini-Saint

Believable5 Unbelievable6

That is made up s*** by an unreliable itk on twiitter

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought a deal was already done with forest for sharp months ago.
i was lead to believe they just needed to wait till the end of the season to sign on the deal.
??

Agree3 Disagree3

I know for a fact that sharpedo is negotiating with saints to be involved next season. therefore this rumour is utter claptrap.

Agree2 Disagree2

Sharpedo? can't imagine he likes that as a nickname.

St Prendy.

Agree1 Disagree0

He said on his twitter page that he was going to help Beattie at Accrington Stanley? Was it a joke or?

Agree0 Disagree1

That was just a joke, trust me, ruling sharpedo (torpedo - getit? nvm!) out of saints next season would appear foolish at this time.

tv are reporting that we are interested in a £3.4 million bid for Evian's Saber Khelifa.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Its us and west brom, they want 6 million euros but both are starting with bids around 3-4 million I hear, he looks good and a bit of competition for places is always a good thing.

Davide Astori from caglari is set to sign for Southampton fc on Saturday. Good source from italy

Believable15 Unbelievable6

Love this to be true but unless I see him holding up a saints shirt in the paper I'm now finding it hard to believe only because it's been going on for so long

Agree5 Disagree4

I'm getting bored of the same rumour appearing every day.

Lenny

Agree7 Disagree1

I go for a giant surprise = Wellington Silva Sanches Aguiar.

Agree1 Disagree4

Well these keep popping up on here, I really hope there's genuine interest.

Might have a surf over the internet.

Saints have signed their first player of the summer transfer window. It's a player from abroad and he will arrive on Saturday to sign his contract, with official confirmation likely from the club on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
from Saints247. com

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Who is it then and how do you know this?

Agree6 Disagree2

It is just what it says on Saints247. com

Agree5 Disagree3

Really? Can u shed any light on this Ed? {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about this, sorry, perfectly possible though.}

Agree4 Disagree1

'It's a player from abroad. ' Brilliant

Agree4 Disagree1

This has been reported by Saints247. com
It doesn't state sources or who it is, I guess we will have to wait till Saturday or Monday to see if its true, time will tell

Agree4 Disagree1

I don't think this guy knows who it is.

Agree2 Disagree1

He ain't signed then if he don't to it till saturday lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Saints first signing has been a teenage lad called Mason from Clitheroe to join up with youth set up. Plays in midfield.

Agree4 Disagree1

If the player hasn't signed a contract then Saints haven't signed the player have they!!

Agree3 Disagree1

Its astori

Agree10 Disagree1

In my view its eitheir lamela or astori.

Agree6 Disagree2

I don't know who wrote3 it on saints247 is but the spurce is a poster on saintsweb (who does have some links with coaching staff). The poster on saintsweb said "Been told first deal is done, won't be announced till early next week. "

The "player from abroad" and arrive saturday & sign monday or tuesday" parts seem to have come from nowhere.

Agree1 Disagree1

Can they sign before 1st July? I know they can do an agreement but surely we won't announce it until the transfer window opens?

Agree3 Disagree1

Yes you can sign outside of transfer windows you just can't register to play. Bayern Munich signed Gotze off of Dortmund right before the Champions league final where they played against each other. Norwich have signed someone already. They just have to wait until July 1st until they can be registered to play for the club.

Agree1 Disagree1

A player can sign at any time & club can announce at any time, BUT the player will not be able to be registered until the 1st day of the window

Agree1 Disagree1

Lets try again.

Transfer window ONLY decides when player is allowed to play for his new club.
You can make and announce deals at any day of the year.

Agree1 Disagree1

Last year we completed the Rodriguez deal and announced it on June 10th, so I don't imagine the club will wait.

Agree2 Disagree1

They can be signed yes. They cannot play for the team competitively because the time to register players doesn't arrive until the 1st of july.

Going to be some severely disappointed fans when we don't sign Lamela - living in an absolute dream world

Agree3 Disagree6

^ guessing you were saying the same last year about Ramirez. Saints are going places, you'll be surprised at the players we'll sign

Agree3 Disagree1

Why severely disappointed?

Saints fans know their football and are not stupid. If we end up not signing him there will be a reason (obviously) and we know it won't be because of lack of ambition or failure to examine the possibility from every angle. Then we move on.
Simples.

Saint Martin

Agree5 Disagree1

This Saints' fan has been living in an absolute dream world for 3 seasons now and it's pretty cool.

Gremio midfielder Fernando off to Roma. paving the way for Lamela to go to Saints?

Believable10 Unbelievable6

We aren't the only team interested in Lamela and currently Roma are desperately trying to keep him. Put this together with the dual ownership issues, and the fact that Man City have had two offers turned down for Lamela this year, it makes it unlikely that we'll be able to tie up a deal.

I understand that our interest is serious, and would love him to come to St Marys.

Ed do you have any more info about this? {Ed001's Note - all I have is that the interest is real and the issues revolve around his ownership, though the club would then need to persuade him to join, which could be difficult. As for other interest, half the world's top clubs hold an interest but the complex ownership has so far stopped any deal happening.}

Agree5 Disagree1

Hope so!

Agree2 Disagree2

There are some bigger clubs with more pulling power than us interested. I think we will struggle. Fingers crossed though

Agree1 Disagree1

How do you know we have interest in Lamela, I have seen no real conformation of this on any real credible sites/sources {Ed001's Note - because I do, if that is not good enough for you, then there is nothing I can do for you, sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Could this possibly be the 'big' signing Cortese is hoping to pull off in Italy? We know what he is capable of. Ed? {Ed001's Note - I haven't read any quotes from Cortese to know what he has said. All I know is that there is an investigation into the ownership surrounding him, which has previously scuppered interest from a number of clubs. If it can't be cleared up, nothing more can happen, as the English league does not allow for 3rd party ownership, unlike Italy. It would be a huge coup to get him though, if it could be done. I do have my doubts, these players often have numerous companies and individuals owning a small percentage of them, which is not a problem in Italy, but it can be difficult to get them all to agree to sell their part share.}

Agree1 Disagree0

The Lamela one is pretty difficult as Ed has said. However, NC is not one to waste his time (certainly not the type to try and organise a free few days in Italy!)and if he has been looking at trying to do a deal I seriously expect he will have clarified the value of the player and whether there is a real chance of encouraging him to Saints (he certainly has MP to help him on this. )

Contractual sorting he is good at, but could still be difficult, if not impossible.

If it was easy, then suspect we would not have a chance, but with the difficulties it could give us a greater chance!

Saint Martin

Agree2 Disagree1

This is now a major possibility thar Lamela may sign for us seeing Citeh have just signed Jesus Navas. Unlikely they would sign both!

Agree1 Disagree0

Although we have 3rd party issues with lamela, the man I would want to negotiate out of everyone is cortese, the guy is possibly the best negotiater out there

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree with Saint Martin, that if anyone can sort out the contractual problems with Lamela, then Cortese is probably the man to do it.

As for the deal that is apparently done, there are rumors coming out today that Astori has decided he wants to sign for Southampton. Not aware of any other deals that may be close to completion.

However as all Saints fans know, until the deal is on the Official Saints website we just have to be patient.

Agree1 Disagree0

If we are in for Lamela I can see it being another ongoing saga like the Ramirez one last summer with all the confusion over ownership. But this one will obviously be a lot more difficult to try and lure him to saints and convince him to leave Roma

Agree0 Disagree0

With Silva, Tevez, Dzeko and Nasri all probably leaving, I think they'll probably be in the market for quite a few players.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ with Roma not qualifying for CL football and the apparent upheavals in the ownership I don't think it'll be as hard to convince him to leave, just to sign for us over City and any other 'bigger' teams that may be in for him. Would definitely say that we're the favourites for him, given NC's negotiating and the fact we can give him pretty much guaranteed football without losing too much by leaving roma this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Where had the interest from Lamela come from

Agree0 Disagree0

He is Argentinian, so is MP. Not difficult to see a link there!
Was it not suggested the real reason for Nigel going was that he was unable to attract talent from outside UK to Saints?

Saint Martin

Agree1 Disagree0

That's ridiculous, just because he's Argentinian doesn't make him more likely to sign for us

Lee Barnard has had interest shown by Oldham, Swindon and Notts County over a permanent transfer in the window.

Sheffeild United are interested over a move for Jonathan Forte.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

It would be great business all round to let these guys go and play football elsewhere. I know we all hate agents but fair play if they want to play somewhere that the agents help with a move. Thanks for the goals in the lower leagues that helped us get promoted.

Agree7 Disagree1

Good luck to Lee Barnard in finding a new club, I always liked Barney, as for
Forte, good riddance, one of Adkins inspired signings.

Agree4 Disagree1

Good luck to Barney, never thought he got a fair chance in the championship, but was brilliant in league 1!
