Reported in a paper that we have put in £8m bid for gk Marshall from Cardiff. They want £15m!We would look at Forster from Celtic if deal couldn't be reached.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

He's a good goalkeeper but also goalkeeper of a team who came 20th in the premier league, now in the championship. They'd be lucky to get £6-7m for him, £15m did make me laugh though.

Rather have forster by a mile

Agree6 Disagree4

Great keeper Marshall. Just buy him but no more than 9 mill.

Southampton are eyeing a move for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N'Doye. According to the Daily Star, so probably paper trash, just thought I would post the rumour

He was one of the best strikers in the Danish league when he played for FC Copenhagen, but I really didn't like him and I very much doubt he'd be a success in the Premier League. He's a very wasteful player, managing to score a goal in a game but missing 3-5 great chances. Not sure he'll get those amount of chances in the PL.

Agree4 Disagree2

Not feeling very confident that Koeman and gang will be with us very long if we don't give them the proper financial backing for players. 41 days to rebuild a team and we haven't even got started yet. Worrying times. Just sell Lovren and get on with it.

I know you should be wary of the bookies BUT the odds on Lovren leaving have gone from 8/11 to 2/7 in the last 2 days. They are rarely wrong at these prices.

Agree4 Disagree1

Koeman had no money at feyonord and I'm sure he was aware of the situation before he signed May take a couple of windows to get the side looking how he wants it

Agree5 Disagree1

I sort of agree but just hope we are able to wait 2 windows as everything looks a bit of a mess at present. Can't remember any other Prem club losing all their top players in one go like we are. Poor start and we may lose others like Nat and Corky etc.

I know I have been on here a lot and I apologise for that, but just feel that something is just not right and that we as fans are being kept in the dark. I really believe we have the funds to more or less buy whoever we want (within reason) but something has just struck me. Do you think that agreeing terms with the players clubs is not the problem and that the real problem is we are not prepared to meet the players wage demands? We have heard time and again that players came here on lower contracts than offered by other clubs on the selling of our intention to progress quickly to be a club with European qualification capability. Lovren ( acting a bit like AL unfortunately ) wants to jump ship but if you believe the interviews he gave he was apparently sold this vision. If this is so I think we will struggle to attract players here especially when they see our mass exodus, I think they would have very little confidence that the dream could come true.

Agree6 Disagree1

Its all well and good offering average players £70-£80,000 a week but what happens when the money eventually runs out or the club is sold to somebody with a tight budget? Learn from Portsmouths mistakes.

Agree6 Disagree2

Jamie is right: wages have to be sustainable

But there is another issue: what if the players Saints want actually don't want to sign for Southampton

Agree2 Disagree0

@chrisdownj I understand your dismay, it's been tough recently. However there is no need to panic or come up with conspiracies. The transfer window has only just opened and will be open for another 7 weeks! Also, training only started last week & Koeman needs time to get to know the squad to make sure everyone is comfortable with each other before introducing new signings.

I can't tell you for sure what is going on at the club but I can tell you there is no reason to panic, in two months time you'll be smiling, the 2014/15 campaign will be successful, just you wait and see!

I know what you're saying but can't help wondering why the likes of Tadic and Pelle aren't done and dusted. If they were other players might see this to be true ambition to rebuild. I am afraid I'm bit of a glass half empty person but then I am a lifetime Saints supporter! But we will never be like that lot down the road luckily we got rid of the QPR manager just in time, phew!!

Acording to sky Schneiderlin has spoken to Koeman he states 'yes Koeman called me about a weeek ago. But what was said will stay between us. He wants me to stay and we'll see. I don't know yet. I still have 3 years left on my contract'

Morgan has class and integrity. If he stays I will be delighted, and if he goes, I will wish him well. What a contrast to Lovren who seems to forget he is employed and paid by SFC. He may soon remember that if he gets hit with a hefty fine by the club.

Agree14 Disagree1

Staying away from training will not force saints to sell. Their best option is to return for pre season, then give fonte an elbow

Agree9 Disagree0

Keep Lovren and set a example and play him in the reserves

Agree10 Disagree3

Lovern's comments over the weekend towards the club were disgusting. Who the hell does he think he is talking about his desire to move to Liverpool & slagging Saints off at the same time. He will get his move at some point but the way he as gone about it is shameful, bad mouthing his employers who pay him crazy wages, fine him before he leaves (He will not care anyway) & get him off the payroll. I know this is how football is now but the man is a disgrace to himself. I can handle losing a excellent player but Pi**ed off with the manner of his imminent departure. Shame on you Dejan

Couldn't have put it better myself rowester. His interview smarts of a petulant child. To say what he did about us and in the same breath say how he felt when he heard you'll never walk alone disgusted me and really came across as a 'come and get me'
I have little doubt that the true reds fans will be a little put out by his attitude and I can't see it endearing him to as many as he thinks it will.
Even with football being as it is, you don't put down the team that pays your wages. Get rid of him. Can see him getting more boo's than AL.

Agree7 Disagree0

Dejan Lovren is a good player on his day but £25m? Again, laughing to the bank. Watch him vs Tottenham away last season and you tell me that's a £25m player.

Agree6 Disagree0

We can't just let players go when they whinge because all this will do is send a bad message to future 1st team players that that's all they have to do is throw a strop and get a move. Quite honestly I think Lovren has a point . Saints board have cashed in on 3 of our best players and brought non in yet. Lovren and other players have also been let down with bonus money which is not on personally I think the problem is the owner all the signs lead me to believe she is greedy unlike her farther. It looks like she just wants to sell saints for parts ie players! Hence the investment big in the training and youth set up appointing a manager who will bring threw our young talent onto the premiership shop floor. But we all know this really it is so in our faces but still we try to believe that the owner might have enough ambition to progress saints onwards and upwards I hope I am wrong but at the moment all the arrows are pointing in one direction and that is backwards. Personally I think the plan s to keep us in the prem because players will get noticed by a worldwide ordinance kepping the conveyer belt of young talent coming threw. She has to sell up but this won't happen to much money to be made.

I wanted lovren at spurs based on his performances at saints but his attitude is disgraceful. I feel for you. Lallana and now Lovren. At least lambert left with some pride. I am not interested in players with that sort of attitude and I'm sure Liverpool fans feel the same. Poch must be shocked with what he's hearing

I have just read an article on Newsnow and the article is saying Everton are ready to match our offer for Tadic. Does the Ed's or anyone know of any truth of this article?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about that.}

Ffs wish this board would pull their finger out! Tadic should have been signed a week ago!!

Agree16 Disagree5

Agree but saints penny pinching like usual will ultimately relegate us from epl

Agree9 Disagree10

Nonsense. Koeman is still new. The World Cup is still a distraction. Clubs, players, agents are still jockying for position.

Its only the beginning of July. You can't just force players to sign for you. The club has to make the right decision. A 10 million pound player might cost the club 30 million over the course of his contract.

Southampton also need to know who is staying and who is going. let's sort out the futures of Schneiderlin and Lovren first.

Saints will have around 50 million to spend on fees. That needs to be spent wisely, not just to appease impatient fans

Agree9 Disagree1

Dont think kl/lr estimate the drop in turnover/revenue if we come out of epl, its disgusting that the decision withhold bonuses has started this monumental failure in the making, holding back on say £15m in bonuses which could couple with losing £100 from dropping out of epl such short sighted and shows current board ARE out of there depth, I agree I want us to b well run well budgeted club not like man c/ psg/anzi but in all my life I've never seen a team loose 5 first teamers let alone survive, lot of people on here deluded to think we will survive with rowe/targett/Gallagher/isgrove, we had smallest outfield squad in epl last year, fact,, we need 7 new poss 8 if spidy goes and at least 4 of these need to be able to hit ground running and quality with the likes of Witsel/Tadic/perisic not with the likes bentner/ings/samaras, very peed off disillusioned saints fan

Agree6 Disagree5

You get these problems when clubs are run by people who know nothing about football.

Agree6 Disagree7

Remind me the background of cortese before he joined.

My understanding is the the day to day football is run by reed not the board as they also understand they don't have the knowledge to make football calls hence why reed oversea the Koeman signing- one which will prove a perfect fit for us saints, so I for one say back of the board let them breath and well who knows we might we be liking the new look saints in a month or so. Or do we want to over pay over the odds for players like Liverpool have and seem keen to continue doing so. Koeman needs some space and time to do deals that are long term players for us not just quick fix to make us think everything is ok. Chill relax and watch the jigsaw slowly fall in to place as what I heard its happy days ahead

Agree5 Disagree1

Yes but wheels shouldve been put in motion sooner, they knew mopo would most likely leave so they should have had options not mince around and wait 3wks, now the problem is getting people in and getting them to gel in 40odd days, we cannot afford to have a bad start in epl

Couldn't agree more dsj. Seems to me it's always been the same with this shall we, shan't we buying policy. A bit like being in a shop and there's only one item you want left, by the time you dither about making your mind up this long arm comes over your shoulder and grabs it!
