Unless we are to bring in a young right winger on a loan such as the likes of Kevin de Bruyne I think NA will rotate between chaplow and de ridder in that position both of which I think are underrated and have the potential to cause chaos against the likes of Ashley Cole, Patrice Evra and Gael Clichy!

Schteve yes but chaplow rm in prem would be suicidal, best to keep chapperz in a central position

Lads to end the Right wing or mid play argument, Its simple we arn't getting one! Steve De Ridder was brought for this reason, Nigel Adkins believes in his ability on the ball, he's only going to improve and get better and better so expect him to play a major part next season. Also all we need to work on atm is getting a Gk, RB and a CB because if we fill these three areas our team will be solid, that's why we wont get a RW as NA believes that Ridder is going to make a big impact and i havent once heard Na say thats an area he wanted to work on so we wont be buying a RW :)

Hoilett or Ince would be perfect. We do need a RW. To be blunt: De Ridder, Chappers and Guly aren't good enough for prem. We also need a keeper...and another CB would be nice. People have been saying we need a RB, personally I think Richardson is quality, under-rated for us last season.

Richardson will struggle with pace, just think about the likes of Bale charging at him down the left wing...he will run riot...we need either an established right back or youngster with strength and pace to handle left wingers especially on the break, as that always seemed to be where we lost shape under pressure.

Jay rod was brought in because he can play ST and RW, that why we spent so much money on him

He didn't play as much because the Championship and the Premiership are two different ball games. The championship was better for Guly and Chaplow, not as quick but strong, Steve De Ridder has pace to burn which is vital in the Premier League

TO answer your question mate, "Spoon, you say that but if NA believes in de ridder then why distant he play a big part last season" he didnt play a major part last season as we had just brought him in 2011! he has been at the club a year and a bit, much like lee who played a couple of games but not the full game, NA is wanting to keep them for a bigger impact in the premier league! and he is premier league quality much like Alex Buttner who was called up to play for country so has Steve but just hasn't been implemented into the Squad. He was mainly used as an impact player last year for him to get used to English football, like Lee will have to. Also the championship was his first taster of playing English football. basically he will play and we wont buy a RW

I'm not sure NA is quite so convinced about SDR. He was quite frustrated with his final ball in post match interviews. Hopefully they have worked on it.

People saying why bid for another striker, we only have four first team strikers, likelyhood is barnard will go, then again, if they decide to play Chun as a winger. we only have 3

Not even reading fans know who sweeney is but they are saying that he is a quality player with prem experience when he is a youngster who has been playing for bray wanderers in the irish league haha

To the Reading fan. True champions? String of flukes saw to that, not rightful champions. Fair play, Pog is a great signing. But Sweeny is unheard of and Guthrie is very average. Fact of the matter is, Saints have spent money on players we want whereas Reading have taken cheap rejects. Reading have a good setup a good manager but can't match saints ambitions. May be a struggle for us both this season but after that, eat our dust sucker.

Don't Reading kids know how to spell-check! When you are bright enough to do that and your club stop signing kids or frees, you might be able to start considering what other clubs are doing-until then concentrate on your education!

Buttner played for Vitisse in a preseason friendly today, so good luck with this one (from a saints fan)

Buttner did play in freindly but this was a farewell to the vitesse fans and only played last fifthteen mins then he caught a flight to southampton in preperation for his medical to be revealed to the public on monday

I see him signing monday Tbh, but he is meant to be getting on a plane as soon as possible according to SSN so hmm..?

Any news on a central defender anyone? Can't wait for the new season... : )

We've just signed davis and buttner is just subject to a medical, give NA a chance to start looking at another position, pointless starting groundless rumours early so no probably no info on a cb... 3 signings in quick succession would be fairly unlikely especially the way cortese tries to get the best deals and not pushed about because people know we have money. so might have to wait for a few weeks for the rumour mill to churn up some rubbish for NA gives us a surprise, cause IMO another decent cb is essential for the squad. I think a player abroad is most likely, NA and cortese are pretty good at hunting down foreigners

Do you really think that they hunt 1 target at a time? They probably planned all of their targets weeks ago and have been asking around for as long. It really isn't hard to enquire about a player, literally an email it's just the signing part that requires effort.

Nigel Adkins will still be in talks with other players just because he signed someone doesn't mean he takes a ten day break he will be in talks a lot with other players or owners to offer his bid for the player. Jm, we haven't signed Buttner but we are close to and Davies already had his medical that's why he has officially signed for us such the same for Buttner he will sign after his medical.

We have a very good domestic and international scouting programme - potentail targets would be part of the agenda on the monthly board meetings (or what they call NC's meeting)

I think a CB is going/hopping to be signed soon as players reporting to staplewood on Monday, and the new players need time to gel with each other
