Heard the same lucky fin. Let the re-building begin.
I have seen him play, heard the stats, told the cost, but until we see him in prem no one really knows, but personally I think he will be at least an equal to - can I say his name (Lallana!) and for a fraction of the price. So far 3 out and 1 in but that 1 has got me excited, now do one lovern (for 25mil!) and let's get players in who want to be with us and go again. I'm thinking of changing my name from picky to "excited saint fan" Koeman keep them coming
Agree6
Disagree4
Am I the only one that feels that the signings we are looking at are not of the same quality of what has left? Tadic may have impressive stats but that's in the dutch league, same with pelle. Paulinho i'm praying we don't sign! we know how well italian strikers do. I feel like hull are doing better business than us.
Agree6
Disagree8
I'm more than happy with Tadic as a replacement for Lallana, and would be equally happy with Pelle or Paulinho. SaintGibbs, are you basing all Italian strikers on Osvaldo? 1. Paulinho is Brazilian. 2. Osvaldo is really Argentinian. 3. I'd love a Zola, Di Canio or Vialli. because we all know how well Italian strikers do!
Agree7
Disagree5
Im just pessimistic that a 10m signing from the dutch league (that let's be honest 90% of us saints fans had never heard of) is a fit replacement for our player of the season. what I should have said was players from the italian leagues. pelle has a very poor record before feyenoord and paulinho up until 2 seasons ago was playing in the third tier! if there are any two leagues where players just seem to not transfer their skills to the PL its the dutch and italian yet this seems to be where the answers for what looks set to be our best 5 players leaving are coming from.
Agree2
Disagree2
I do agree with SaintGibbs in part. Italian strikers can struggle to adapt to the Premiership and Paulinho doesn't look like anything particularly special. I am more than happy to be proven wrong but I have doubts he would be the right player to bring in.
As for Tadic though, he is a purely class player it seems and I would be very happy with him to replace Lallana. Tadic has great technical ability and can really pick out the right option. There is always a risk bringing in players from other leagues for the adaptability question but Tadic definitely has the potential to be a real hit.
As for your Hull comment, they are conducting business well particularly after securing Ince, but they haven't had so many players kicking up a fuss and forcing their way out to contend with putting others off joining to start with. Plus who knows what kind of wages they are being offered. Calm down and stay positive, this isn't exactly a crisis.

Tadic is far from confirmed in reality, I have had a look on him on you tube and I can confirm he is not in Lallana s class. Slightly underwhelmed to be honest.

Totally disagree with doubting players from the Dutch league. I thinkyou need to do your research on players that came there from there. Bony is one example who played there for 2 seasons at vitesse
Agree5
Disagree1
The problem of players coming from Dutch league isn't exactly a new one, and there isn't exactly a precise answer. Yes Bony did well, but Van Wolfswinkel didn't exactly set the world alight.
On moving to the Premier League, some players will struggle, and some will cope well. The odd one or two might actually show real class. It's really hard to say how any player will cope with the change. Look at our own Morgan. He didn't look fantastic in League one, or even in the Championship, but as he's moved into the Premier league, he's got better.
All we can do is have a little faith in our new management team, and hope that they get it right. Whatever happens, bringing in enough players to strengthen our team might potentially weaken it, since it's going to be hard to settle in so many new players at once. It could well be that we'll only bring in enough players to replace the ones that leave, and strengthen in numbers from the academy.
All I can say is that it's going to be interesting.

Some great players have come from that league (Bergkamp, Suarez, Robben, Snijder, van Persie, Bony, Koeman. ) players who stand out over there usually do well here and Tadic is someone who definitely stands out. Wait until he's played a few games in the prem before you start moaning about him
Agree2

Robben was shocking in the PL. another 2 of those never played here. pessimism is not a moan.

I love the Dutch League and welcome quality additions from it. Dusan Tadic was one of the best performers in the Eredivisie last season and that is from a whole wealth of talented players. Dries Mertens, Wilfried Bony, Christian Eriksen, Kevin Strootman were all very successful after moving on and for good reason. With the League packed with very talented often very young footballers such as Bruno martind indi, Stefan de Vrij, Adem Maher, Memphis Depay, Viktor Fischer, Zakaria Bakkali, Alfred Finnbogason. I really welcome the addition of someone from such a promising league. Their is a reason many premier league clubs send their young players there to develop. Tadic is very good on the ball playing both footed, with a very keen eye for a pass and unlike Adam lallana is very able when it come to scoring goals. Yes I think he will take a bit of time to adapt the the pace and physicality of the premier league, but I am very confident he will do especially working under Koeman. Don't base your opinions of a player based on youtube. You could make Chris Smalling look like Christiano Ronaldo of vice verse if you really wanted to.

I agree with a lot of what alsotonle has stated. I believe Tadic is a great player from watching a lot of his games the only concern is we are selling proven Premier League players. We are getting a lot of money for them and it looks like good business however buying in players from other leagues always has risks. I think no more players should leave (especially schneiderlin). Or at least untill we get a lot of players in. I would also like if we signed a few proven Premier League players just to steady the ship.

Schneiderlin needs the armband! I don't doubt the quality of the young dutch players coming through. what I do doubt is players that score for fun in the eredivisie scoring for fun in the premier league. kezman and van wolfswinkel. van dijk would be quality but if we are in for forster aswell i'd say celtic are fed up with us.

Saints Gibbs let's enjoy the first signing, stats aren't everything agreed but would you prefer us to have tadic or not? If not then who and let's be realistic.
Personally I think tadic will show what a great player he is.
Oh and how are the Dutch home based players doing at the World Cup!!

Heard numerous rumours today regarding us bringing in the following players what do you guys think
1. John ruddy (norwich 4m)
2. Scott Sinclair ( man city 5 m)
3. John obi mikel ( Chelsea )
4. Matteo mussachio (Villarreal 6m)
5. Lucas digne (psg 9m)

Can't see ruddy happening as I don't think him and Watson get on, may be wrong but I'm sure I heard that somewhere

Lucas Digne is supposed to be a class player with great potential but not sure he would leave psg to come to us without guaranteed first team slot. I can't believe that Korman won't have a few targets outside of linked Dutch players but so far I don't see marquee player. Taichung looks good but is he a big name??
Agree2
Disagree0
Digne will not likely sign, but he would be garunteed first team, giving target more experience/competition, Sinclair is a risky one, no one really knows his full potential as he never gets game time which we could give him, if we were to sign him up then it would have to be for a lot less than £5million
Agree3
Disagree0
No to all of them
Agree2

Re Scott sinclair, i'm pretty sure the only reason he continues to be linked with us is because his brother is coming through the academy currently (I'm sure I read that somewhere?). That said, I can't see him joining us as his wages are too high & his move to man city backfired & spent too long on the bench thus not gaining any experience etc.

Hang on in there Montecristo. Having to appoint a new manager meant we were always going to gain on other clubs but getting it right is what matters. By the time of the press conference things will look much rosier.
Does PSG have enough ambition for Louvren?

Just a quick question- actually what has mr reed screwed up? Lambert went to live out his dream and everyone wishes him well. Lallana has had one decent season and I'll hold my hands up I really rate him but mr reed has got decent money for him. Shaw 20 months ago was only just breaking in to first team he wants to go and we get over 30 mil for him, I have no idea how that isn't awesome business. Yes in another 6 years he might be worth more but well he wanted to leave and who knows in 6 years he might be worth a lot less. Mr reed continue the good work.
Agree9

Well said Picky. We've got great money in for Shaw and Lallana to the point that other fans are calling us greedy. that's a first in my books.
That said it would be good to see some of that re-invested sooner rather then later. There are players out there getting snapped up which in turn shrinks the pot we can pick from.

Regardless of who we bring in, players like chambers, ward prowse, cork, reeves may shine under koeman. Ward prowse especially. I don't think ward prowse was playing his best position. He played quality in a DM role for England u21. Let's remember both lallana and shaw came through the academy as well, so we could see others making the step up. The only positions I'm really worried about is cb and a striker.

Reed sold three key players without first signing replacements which frankly is stupid.First because it will push up the asking price of every player we go after in the transfer market, and secondly he capitulated to Lallana, set a precedent so every player wanting to leave is doing so by throwing toys out of his pram. Reed is naive , not a businessman, not qualified to deal with large business transactions, hence the lack of results so far. He may yet secure Tadic, and really needs to, as Everton are sniffing, this deal should have been wrapped up ages ago. Which makes me nervous apart from annoyed.
Agree3
Disagree5
@montecristo: what are you even taking about?! The transfer window has been open for a week! Reed sold 3 players in that time who didn't want to be here and were upsetting other members of the squad. There is no rush to buy players either, transfers take time, calm down.
As already said, Lambert left to fulfil his dream, nobody would deny him that. Shaw, although a very talented player has been sold for a lot more than he's worth, plus his wages were probably quadrupled; it takes more than will power to say 'no' to £100,000 per week. Lastly Lallana, a captain who didn't want to play for the club, a man becoming more self involved as time went on and a man who decided to leave at the worst time when he should be setting an example. Lallana also is not worth what he was sold for. Reed has done all he can, the best with what he has and he'll continue to do so; he got close to 60 million for two players who didn't want to be here, two players not worth that amount - he got more for Lallana and Shaw than AC Milan got for Ibrahimović & Thisgo Silva.
Stop doubting people, it does no one any good. Support the team, that's why we're here.

A lot of transfer activity with Saints. Firstly, FC Twente's manager has confirmed that Tadic will sign for us in the coming days, and this hsould be followed by the signing of Graziano Pelle.
Secondly, Southampton has officially submitted a bid for Cardiff Goalkeeper David Marshall. The bid is thought to be in the region of £8 million.
Finally, Saints are looking to turn to FC Lorient CB Bruno Ecuele Manga, according to specualtion in the French Press. They believe that this is a replacement for Lovren, who has upset the Saints' board with his recent interview. The Saints are looking for £25 million to sell Lovren.

8 mill for Marshall seems pretty hefty
Agree7

£8million for Marshall does seem a little on the high side - He did have an excellent season last time out, but bearing in mind he's now a Championship player I think this should have a bearing on his value. Still worth a shot at £5million in my eyes.
Agree4
Disagree7
Cardiff are doing a Saints valuing him at £15m! probably because they know we have cash. But it is also rumoured we are looking at Fraser Forster too, they may relent and drop their price. I think £8m for possibly the best keeper in the Prem is good. Despite the fact that Cardiff went down, his performances delayed the inevitable until the last minute.

I like your optimism, although I think it's a little misguided, I can't see us finishing top 7. I don't for a second believe that the players we will be bringing in will be an improvement on those that have been sold in this window, however, I'm happy to be proven wrong. Im not itk and would never claim to be but I have been told by a source at the club that we are very much pushing for ings still. I am told this is likely to happen but could take a while.
The rumours on the keeper are true are main target is marshall after his fantastic season and is proven in the prem the stumbling block is the amount cardiff want because of this forster of celtic is 2nd choice as we are looking around the 8mill mark for a keeper to push boruc.

Saints in for 27 year old Armero from udinese. Was on loan at west ham last season left back for luke shaw replacement looks good IMO

I have been told armero has been looked at but nothing concrete. Cresswell was watched for a long time but didn't persue as a dutch left back has been enquired about as Koeman has advised he would prefer this target but no name given.

Got a feeling Koeman may go for Blind who can play as a defensive midfielder or left back.

Clarkey saint, the rumored dutch left back that we inquired about was Jetro Williems. Would be a great signing but I wonder how this would affect Matt Targett.

Jetro is just speculation not saying its not him but he had a poor season of late I believe.
My top signings would be
Alex McCarthy/Fraser Forster
Van Dijk/Caulker
Tadic
Pelle
