We've been linked to Zapata and Sow recently thoughts?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

We've also been linked with finbogasson, remy (don't know how baring in mind he has a court case very soon), osvaldo and damiao (even though they seem dead now), Quagliarella, vydra, igboananike, Hernandez (Abel and javier) and many more.

Also, we could potentially be in talks with someone from sporting Lisbon and there are a vast majority of attacking midfielders including banega which we are linked with.

I personally have gotten to where I no longer believer any rumours that are either posted on here or in the papers.

Agree8 Disagree4

Not too bothered about rumours, there's too many of them and most are just made up.
Problem is that some of the links have been confirmed by MP about a month ago and nothing has happened yet, which would indicate that we have difficulties getting the players we want.
As things stand, I'm not convinced we have what it takes to improve on last season and am expecting an other struggle against relegation as I don't think we'll score enough goals.

Agree4 Disagree7

There was a point that you did?

Such a shame that most of the rumours on here just reek of desperation

Agree4 Disagree1

We will not struggle against relegation and we get goals from all over the park. If we win all games 1-0 we win the premiership. not that we will.
Our problem last season was shipping goals early on. Once we stopped that we did well enough for 14th.
One more forward to back up Ricky is all we need.

Agree5 Disagree4

Rome wasn't built in a day, maybe we need to build our profile a bit more to attract these big named stars we have openly been linked to. I believe we have made 2 outstanding signing this window and they are an improvement. We WON'T be struggling with relegation with our current squad but the jump from 14th to euro qualification this season (which seems to be an expectation from some fans ) will take another season or 2. We are obviously trying to bring in the big name or MP would say he has finished buying for the summer. But are we really that attractive at the mo. No in the future. possibly. There is far too much negativity on here. Top10 would be outstanding this season. We build from there.

Agree7 Disagree1

Agree with the above, we are building and developing, however so are other prem teams around us, swansea are the prime example, now, they are ahead of us for that european place. Ditto about 'Rome'.

Agree3 Disagree0

If what we read is true, i. e. re: Rooney and Suarez, at least we are not one of these pretentious so called big Clubs who clearly have players who no longer want to play for them. Saints will be fine; you'll see.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree that perhaps Saints fans are hoping to run before we can walk, but I do have to wonder how and why the likes of Swansea can attract quality players (e. g. Bony). They have a much lower profile than us I'd imagine. I live in China and have met barely literate taxi drivers who've heard of 'Nananpudun'.

Agree2 Disagree1

To the above, simple, cause they finished 9th last season, we've got to have a good season first before attracting the players to get us into Europe. Rome!

Agree1 Disagree0

Swansea. attractive football, big named manager, 2 successful years in the prem, European football. that is why they can attract. We should be be looking to achieve what they did last season.

Apparently we have inquired about Blackpool's Tom Ince. According to reports he was offered a chance to join Cardiff but turned it down, Cortese and Pochettino think he would fit into the high tempo style at Southampton and would be interested due to the clubs ambition. Blackpool could receive up to £8million for the winger.

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Lets hope its true, Great signing it would be.

Agree8 Disagree7

Lol I cracked a rib

Agree3 Disagree8

I would be happy with this signing. You haven't presented us with much evidence though.

Lenny

Agree11 Disagree2

Thought he wanted to stay with his new born child in the North.

Agree6 Disagree2

Boring rumour, been around the block for a while now. Still, hope its true but he has a young family settled up north so I very very much doubt it.

Agree6 Disagree4

Too light weight. selfish with the ball would rather look at the Algerian boy who said he was interested in joining us a couple of weeks ago for 3/4 million less

Agree8 Disagree4

Said before he would be a great signing
but can't see it happening

Agree5 Disagree1

I bet it's not apparent at all

Agree3 Disagree1

Hasn't yet proved himself that much to be honest if he was worth anything near 8mil why did blackpool finish in the bottom half of the championship?

Agree3 Disagree6

^ why was ox worth 12 mil when we were in league one, why was bale worth 5 when we were in the bottom half of the championship same with walcott being worth 12. Doesn't matter where the club finishes, if he's an 8 million player, then he's an 8 million player regardless of the team he's in

Agree6 Disagree2

Blackpool finished in the bottom half, because football is an 11 a-side game, No? Good player!

Agree3 Disagree1

Stupid comment above was he playing alone? 7 m for jay rod are burnley in the prem no where did they finish before we signed him? Think!

Agree4 Disagree0

That's just a stupid theory,
why did Liverpool only finish 7th when they have Luis Suarez?

Tom Ince scored 18 goals last season from midfield/wing that's pretty impressive.

Agree5 Disagree0

Tom Ince is not even in the same category as Bale. Walcott & The Ox so 8 million is a touch over priced. His contract is running out with what a year or two left. clubs are happy to wait rather than splash the cash now otherwise he would have gone. He also seems to like wasting peoples time like Cardiff he agreed terms and then walked away. The Punch is better

It's all been quite on the Saints front for a while now. But talk coming out of Italy is that chairman Nicola Cortese is in advanced talks with Maurizio Zamparini of Palermo. The player in question is Abel Hernandez, with the Serie B side wanting as much as €18 million for the striker. Although the Rosanero have been quite resilient towards interest, and Hernandez has expressed his desire to stay at the club, it is thought that the situation is very different behind the scenes with Abel anxious to leave. Will keep updated whenever I get any new developments - SpanishSaint

Believable11 Unbelievable9

At last a plausible rumour, Thank you Spanish saint.

Agree4 Disagree5

He's hardly been a prolific scorer in Serie B. Probably because he has missed most of the last three seasons with different injuries. including a Cruciate last year.
Has turned out for Uruguay all the time though.
I can't see us wanting him for many reasons. Incredible risk and we'd be crazy to pay more that a few million for him.
This is agent talk I reckon.

Agree4 Disagree2

One goal in 14 games last season. £18m? Really?

Agree7 Disagree0

I hope this is true. looks a good player and should be signed for his goal celebrations if nothing else lol. check him out on you tube.

Agree2 Disagree3

Just looked on you tube omg play guly up top. Abel I don't think so his high light are mostly misses

Agree3 Disagree2

Plausible! Really, I would be very surprised and looking at the figure being quoted I would be shocked.

Agree2 Disagree1

Why do Saints supporters repeatedly confuse Euros and £s?

Agree4 Disagree1

€18 mill~ £16 mill pounds. Not a lot of difference these days. rubbish rumour mind you.
