Southampton made a bid (unknown) for Bologna danish df Sorensen, according to Sky Italy. Bologna already turned down
Believable10
Unbelievable12
Having checked this guy out he is co-owned by Juventus (which means complicated!) he signed a 4-year deal with Juventus and then in 2011 was sold as co-owned entity to Bologna for 2.5m Euros....
He looks good at 20 years old, 6'4 and has made over 30 combined appearances for both clubs... Just the sort of player than NC goes for! :-)

Has potential to happen. I imagine he'd be a perfect complement to the signing of Astori. However it may unsettle a few players like Hooiveld, Martin and Seaborne as the competition would be too fierce for them to get the slightest look in.

I like the ambition of NC/NA, people may scoff at their attempts to sign top young talent, and we may miss out on many, but like Ramerez, they go for very talented players that if we get them will improve our team for years to come. Astori and Coutihno are quality young players that if they reach their full potential will be world class. We should continue to try to sign the young players that all the big clubs want, if we can steal a few good ones at the prices we can afford (10mil seem our upper limit) then we will have a great team at a great price. We all know we cannot pay for the top finished article, they cost tens of millions and want huge wages!. Lets continue to shock the world with our ambitious owners sensible buying policies. Are any real SFC fans upset with the players we have officially made offers for!!

No but why does it take so long ? And why always hard ? You would have thought everything would be sorted and ready to go on opening of the window ! As other clubs have done as it takes a while to bed in and settle
Agree5
Disagree2
I would think the reason it is so hard to attract top young world class talent is because of the may things against us:
1- Like it or not we are still a club that is not established in the BPL or pushing for any trophies.
2 - we wont spend crazy amounts of money for transfer fees, agents or wages.
3 - we have quality in most departments so a starting position is not guaranteed.

Was go karting last night in eastleigh and jos hoidvelt and de ridder was there as well, got chatting inbetween races and asked de ridder is he staying, he said he just wants to play regular football as in he is most prob off jos when I asked jos the same he said no way he loves it here.
If we were to get relegated I beleive jos would play a massive part next year so we should be keeping all fringe players until we know of our safety, just my opinion but hey there you go not a lot of news but worth a mention

Did you ask De Ridder why he is the only Belgian in English football who is rubbish?

Astori and Coutinho have been used by Southampton to lure 2 young english players to the club. Saints knew they couldn't get either Astori or Coutinho and allowed the club to be played by their respective agents with a motive of showing the clubs intent to these 2 youngsters.
Believable2
Unbelievable18
What? Proof? Name the youngsters. Name one of the youngsters.
Agree11

Quite possibly the worst, most flimsy rumour I've read in a while.
Agree13
Disagree2
If there was hard proof it would be out in media would it not. It is Ince and Butland which would not seem right on what we read because Ince is suppposed to be a done deal with Liverpool and Adkins says he doesn't want a keeper. Buy eh we will see

Nice try skate, what a stupid rumour

Saints need to buy some experienced defenders that have premier league experience rather than spending £20m on 2 guys that could just as easilly be a flop. Can see you going down this season if you don't make the right purchases in this window.
Agree8

£20 million on players who are lacking experience according to you?
Ok, Astori has represented the national team for italy and both of these players have experience of the Italian top flight with top standard opposition.
Agree8

Same comment could apply to half the Premier League! Thanks for that pearl of wisdom, NC/NA will have to reconsider their whole strategy. LOL
Agree3

I think Coutihno maybe unrealistic as he plays for Inter Millan fairly often, but we can definately get Astori if we cough up the funds
Agree2
Disagree0
Astori has hardly been playing against rubbish in Serie A for the past 4 seasons. Hope we don't buy experienced defenders that have premier league experience and who are now struggling in the Championship. Which available and quality defenders did you have in mind?

And to all intents and purposes the Italian league is the best defensive league in the world! If we need a good quality cb that's exactly where we should be looking, not a cb that's not needed by another premier league club or indeed a cb that has been recently relegated.

Nathan Redmond rumoured for £6m. I personally think that is a lot for a player who doesn't look anythingspecial
Agree0

Coutihno has only played 4 times this season for Inter so the chances of him be packed off are good. He spent all of last season on loan and it a squad player at best for them. He has been there for 6 years and progressed nowhere its time for Nig to show him how to play sexy football

Apparently Southampton and Calgari are nearing a deal after Astori had 'words' with the chairman of Calgari about his desire to leave which has encouraged Calgari to allow a slightly lower price than they asked (rumoured to be around 10 million Euro's, some in instalments).
That's the latest I've heard from Italy on that deal, although seems the talks with Coutinho are beginning to progress too, Inter Milan are happy to sell to fund their other desired signings. Fee rumoured around 8.5 million Euro's at the moment and Coutinho is apparently happy to join a club where he will feature regularly at top flight level.
Personally I think if the news I've received is true it will be brilliant for Southampton and us signing these two players would show the ambition and massively increase our chances of survival.

This would be great and we can get them in before villa even better

Unfortunately this all looks to be untrue. Milan have a first bid/buy-back clause and the Milan coach has already expressed he wants Astori back at Milan. This signals game over for southampton. But congratulations once again to NC for once again being used by an agent to leverage a better club. Need's to do homework on the agents.

Unfortunately you could be right there we do seem a bit nieve sometimes dont we? Like the way the " third party" (man u) stole the buttner deal
Agree5
Disagree5
No mention of any such agreement, Calgari own him outright now and AC Milan have enough defenders and will surely looking to spend their money on new strikers!
Where did you get your information?
Agree12

Haven't heard anything about this clause.

Once again, any excuse to have a go at NC. What about the deals he achieved in the summer?? Yes, Buttner didn't happen-so what, Shaw now has his chance and taken it brilliantly.
NC knows what he is doing, and if a deal falls through then he will not tell you the reasons but I, for one, trust him to get it right for the club.
Agree8

If he wants first team football and a challenge he will come to us, if he doesn't I don't want him
Agree4

Coutinho aparently cost 4m euros initially and cant get in to the team? Why are Saints then going to spend 8-10m on him then, his price tag has more than doubled in an unsuccesfull spell at his current club. Doesn't seem like great business sense?
Agree2
Disagree1
Have you seen Coutinho Play? He is far from the finished article, but he is pure class on the ball. The general criticism of him is that he's too greedy, and tries to do it all himself. Sort of like a certain young player that Man Utd signed at the age of 17 in 2003 for 15M Euros...
Agree2
Disagree2
A manager like Adkins and a team like Southampton sounds like what Coutinho needs then. Adkins is good at getting players to work together and the team we have at the moment would probably be the encouraging type he needs to get comfortable with working in a TEAM environment.
Agree3

Coutinho is dubbed as one of the next best things. Will go for a similar price as Ramirez.
Agree2
Disagree0
I'd like to see this transfer go through quickly but I worry with NC trying a bit to hard to get a bargain, ie the Ramirez deal, that he won't be in place in time for the 6 point villa fixture. I hope he comes NOW but I fear a deadline day deal.. Hope I'm wrong
Agree4

How many points could the delay in the signings cost us? Hopefully it won't make the difference in us staying up and therefore losing the additional TV revenue for next year (£20 million plus). A must win game on Saturday?
