Southampton are trying to complete a near 50million euro double signing to get Brazillian duo Bernard and Damiao. Seems an awful lot to spend after all the money spent on Wanyama and Lovren.

That's more like 55 million lol, Bernard £21 million, Damiao £21 million, plus add ons and other fees be about 54-55 million and we aren't in for Bernard

Well, as rich as we actually are. Richest in the prem in terms of debt (we have none) and 4th richest in terms of backing.

No. Chelsea probably won't spend this much. However, I remember them and others spending vastly more pre seasons on players.

I don't think we will get them both. I think it's too much too soon.
I can find nothing linking us to Bernard.
Damiao is a potential but I expect it will get high jacked by a 'bigger' named club.

Having wealthy owners and having a big transfer budget are two very different things.

Yes Saints have some of the wealthiest backing and are debt free, but they are aiming to be run sustainably (unlike other clubs who spend big). We also have an average fan base for a prem team.

Don't get arrogant because we have rich owners. We're run very sensibly, and won't be paying that much on two players, least not until we are guaranteed European football and can justify it.

^ This guy knows his stuff right. Do you know what spending that kind of money with no guarantee of returns is called? Unsustainable business model. It's what'll kill off clubs like Chelsea and City and I for one pray we continue to do good business like Cortese has been, as opposed to as OP would see us do.

Would be amazing! But this is soo not going to happen. It would be like when west ham got tevez and mascgerano! Problem would be, if we did get them, is they'd be off to Madrid or barca within 18 months.
