at the weekend BBC sport had a section of 50 transfer rumors for january. we had the usual storys in there that we've all heard before.
but one stands out for me as i havnt seen this or heard this anywhere before.
but saints are intrested in lee nguyen from new england revolution. the story quotes :
his 20 goals and excellent work rate were major factors in nguyen being named an MLS player of the year finalist, and his club finishing as league runner up. The former PSV man could be heading back to europe with reported intrest coming from southampton.

anyone know or heard anymore on this story ?

Apparently Saints scouts were at the MLS Playoff semi final (New England vs NYRB), in which he impressed for the Revolution.

However even if a deal was secured for him, with only four international caps he would have to be deemed an ‘exceptional talent’ in order to get a work permit.

I think being a player of the year finalist would be enough to get the work permit, they rarely don't go through.
However i think this is mere speculation. if we were actually going to sign someone from every game a scout goes to then we would have 1000s of players!
