Jordie classie now being linked away. to turkey may just be something of nothing bit reporting it on news now, also an article about saints struggling to keep their stars. again dunno what the situation is expect media are just playing games but if fonte goes what must that look like to other players? The rumors should be players in surely not players out at this stage!?

Yeah I saw this too. The club is apparently galatasary. Not really an upward move in my opinion, therefore if he does go it's because he is unhappy here. Can't see any other reason, also bear in mind that he was a Koeman signing so RK going may have unsettled him. If he does go based on this, it wouldn't be the end of the world as long as we REPLACE (which is more of a concern as we don't seem to have them lined up at the spire or uni for Medicaid at the moment)

If he goes, let's just sign someone who is taller.

Not sure if classie is strong or big enough for the premiership, maybe best to cash in on him but as said above as long as a good replacement is brought in,

Reed is as good as Clasie to no need to replace if he goes.

He's barely been given a chance. Signed last year was injured for the first two months. So wasn't playing football until November.

That is true st jay, he was signed for the future. But that said, if he wants to go to galatasary, it's a side step so he wouldn't want to go unless he was unhappy. If he's unhappy, let him go.

Did I just read that reed is as good as clasie, this warm weather must be affecting people's judgment, he had no pre-season last year and and now has the perfect partner in holgberg.

It's just a rumour for now but I could see this happening and I do t think it would be the end of the world if it did. If we recoup the fee we paid and invest in a midfielder more suited to the diamond system ( box to box )

I think there's a few people who are MASSIVELY underestimating Clasies potential on here.

He has potential to be a great addition to the saints team. Give hime the chance and he will prove it. Is regarded by plenty in holland as a future top player.

I agree he had a slow start but I haven't seen anything since to suggest he can deliver in the premier league. He always looks off the pace to me, like watching a kid play against adults. I would much rather see Reed given a run of games - much as I liked Roko he rarely played youth, even in games where you could afford to give them the last 20 minutes.

Ah yes, but many a game is won and lost in tube last 20 minutes. Youth have a chance when their chance comes. In the reserves and build up for the first team. Remember the grief that ponch got for fielding a youth team in the cup a few seasons ago? It's a fine line.

all well said guys, I think we just need to settle the squad, Clasie has lots of potential, give him a chance. There is no need to sell and to suggest he is unhappy is just wrong! The constant conveyor belt of players leaving needs to stop.

Its disruptive to the rest of the squad and just simply sends out the wrong message to all our players. If a player is truly unhappy then there is no point having him in the squad but we all know Southampton has a great reputation for looking after its players / staff.

We should be looking at additions to make sure we have a strong squad for the long hard season ahead, with European football every player will get a chance. let's get a couple of additions in Southampton and really show everyone what this bloody amazing club is made of! COYR!

I'm not suggesting fielding a youth side but what was the point last year in having Seger and Reed on the bench for every game and never giving them any game time?

15.) 19 Aug 2016
19 Aug 2016 11:12:21
Good point marcher. That must be demoralising for a player to be picked for the bench so often yet not actually given time on the pitch.

16.) 19 Aug 2016

The reason seager etc on the bench is that it brings your home grown quota in line a bit like city buying sinclair and the like and not playing them, now they've got a few they've sold them on, this could become worse as clubs want to use more than 3 subs in competitions that do into extra time.

Regardless of Classies potential, it may be a case of whether he fits with Puel's ideas of the teams future. Personally I can't see him playing anywhere in the Diamond.

I totally agree with that tbh Jesus 02.

That didn't suit Clasie at all tonight on the side of the diamond. He looked very uncomfortable, especially when forced out wider. Having said that I don't think any of our midfield or strikers look suited to it, with the exception of possibly Tadic. Long couldn't get into the game, the midfield was stretched the whole 90 minutes, and I don't care what anyone says. Redmond is not a striker!

Be interesting to see if Puel changes it now. I'm hoping so.

Lets be a bit realistic here. We were up against him one of the favourites for the prem title. They have just bought one of the best midfielders in the world to add to their already strong midfield. It was always going to be a big ask at old Trafford. We have a new manager with new ideas. Be patient for at least the first 6 games before pressing the panic button. And there is still plenty of time to bring in new blood before the transfer window closes.

I'm not keen on the diamond and never have been if I'm honest.
