Mario Lemina reportedly due for a medical at Saints. Just what we need yet another bloody midfielder. Absolutely crying out for a CB to partner Jack Stevens but can you see one on the horizon. argh nope .

I think its more that we need a defender goalscorer as a higher priority . over being depressed about making a signing for an area we have more than adequate cover for.

We don't need a sodding goalscorer! We need a more creative edge in midfield! A number 10. I don't know anything about this guy so I can't comment on what he's bringing to the team. but signing more "goalscorers" isn't the answer. You don't win matches with 10 strikers and a goalkeeper. Yes we need another centre back. Hopefully we are waiting till the end of the window so winners price might come down, since 20 million for a player bought for 5 and who's hardly played in 2 years is extortionate.

Then perhaps the correct thing to do would be sell some of the midfielders that aren't doing that. Free up some salary so we can offer a decent wage and not lose out on our prime targets. because we are overrun with midfielders . tadic, hjobjerg, classie, Redmond, boufal, ward prowse, romeu, Davis, sims and then reed out on loan. Sure let's buy more.

Yeah, great one. sell. a. couple of. players so all the thick fans can kick off and continue calling us a selling club and slating les reed, accusing the club of no ambition.

We've just broken our transfer record for the 3rd window running. I've read up a little on lemina, looks like he will add some more strength and stamina to compliment romeu. I've just seen that we're linked with ghezzal too, a winger. Again, I don't know am awful lot about him.

This goes to show that saints conduct their business quietly, respectfully and with a degree of class. Not even ED was able to predict this and people have been asking him for info on in comings for weeks. So while you're crying out for a striker, a centre back, and anything else, maybe that's exactly what the club are working on. but nobody knows about it.

Yh he looks quality on YouTube! But that's a lot harder as a CDM than it is for an attacking player - although I understand your point. If you watch his play he's a powerful player, who can drive into the space and pick a pass. Looks like an ideal partner for Romeu, I know we don't need CM's on paper, as we have Davies, Classie, Romeu, Hojberg and JWP even though he's been playing further forward. For me he looks like he'd add a lot of quality, I imagine we'd probably sell someone maybe Clasie as he's been linked with a move already? Manager has said he knows nothing about this though, so may not happen.

I think it's only the THICK fans that try to pretend a cb isn't top of list, and this new singing is just an investment that is young already played for a top club and can be sold for more if he does well.
Proof is there when the managers say I don't know him were looking for the right players .
Great the right player is the one that can cover for the sulking dick.
It's called a cb
And to wait till end of window
Season has started by then .
Fans are pissed because again investment comes before what the team could do with .
I agree we have goal scorers I also agree we have midfield.
So all we need to wait for is a player in the cb position to fall into the investment category then were good to go for season let's hope another team is nice to les to accept a low fee in an inflated market to justify buying a cb
To replace the cb he promised would be sold for a nice little profit lol.

I am genuinely depressed by the comments on here. Just because we signed lemina doesn't mean we're ignoring all other positions. People bitch about us not signing people and then do this when we sign someone. Those of you conplaining don't deserve good things and should crawl back beneath the rock you came from. You have no understanding of how life works. It's not as simple as 'oh, we need a vvd replacement'; 'let's go sign another world class cb for 15 mil and replace him'.

If he adds more steel in the middle then I'm not complaining. Despite our number of midfielders, the likes of Clasie Davis and JWP aren't exactly the bulldozer type and they'll get overrun by more overall dominant physical midfied like man utd. More options other than Romeu and arguably Hojbjerg. But the club must act again, we definitely need a CB and some injection of goals, whether its coming from someone who can finish or someone who can lay it on a plate for others!

I'm not sure anyone was saying it was, nor is individual opinion a reason to be quite so personal. but then I guess some people just have to go there. Anyway the feelings being aired by more than half the posters here and across all social media platforms is they HOPE that the club aren't hoping that gardos, bednarak, Stephens and yoshida are premier league ready for a whole season and that if the personal in midfield and up front is the same, less jay rod, then we are putting a lot on a change of tactics. No doubt Austin and gabbiadini know where the goal is, pre season has shown that but everyone is still entitled to voice and have individual opinion. its as right as yours is.

No one's ingoring the fact that we need a CB, should be number one priority IMO, followed by a forward, I'm sure they'll come a bit out of the blue like this one has.

Apparently, the Point some people are missing is that, Pellegrino likes to play with 2 CDMs and that Lemina can also drop back as a central defender and can also play at full back. Versatilty is the word.

No one is missing a point a conference manager
Would probably want two good solid CDM in front of such a weak defence.
You cannot pay 15 m for a quality cb in and inflated market and expect to sell yours for 50-70.

If your team cannot defend it doesn't really matter good you mid and forwards play defence will always let it down and make the team sit deeper and deeper.
And we do not have a mane on field to put them on there back foot.
Allows decent teams to push up on you with less chance of being counter attacked yourself .
You know like conceding goals directly from your own corners .
The reason poch and Koeman where able to do what they did was solid defence from two good CB

I think the new CDM will be a good addition to the squad. I watched the Sevilla game on Saturday with what I assume is our strongest 11. And looks like the favored formation is 4-2-3-1. As good as Davis is I do not think he is good enough for what everyone wants. He gives the ball away a lot. He has a good work rate, but I think we've needed someone else. This will make our squad more versatile in midfield. JWP looks to play a more attacking position this season. I think we should look to offload Hojbjerg on loan, as he won't improve warming the bench.
We had a problem last season with goals. We kept 7 clean sheets with VVD injured, so I wouldn't be 100% worried about our defense. Obviously, it would be good to get another CB in as we did leak goals.
