What a shambles for the first goal today BV can anyone explain who Ings didn't just head it out for a corner and what on earth was maccarthys position he was way behind the line . if the goalkeepers are going to make mistakes like this we could still get dragged back into trouble, to those who criticize Redders just note how we missed him today, must win game next week.

The reason Ings didn;t head it out for a corner was that he totally misjudged his position relative to the ball trajectory . in simple terms he thought the ball was going out for a corner! As for McCarthy . now that's a more difficult one. Maybe he had been told to guard the far post as Burnley aim for the far post 9/ 10 times. To be fair, he did exactly the same against Liverpool and scored direct from a corner:)
We struggled against Burnley's tactics as have many other clubs . ! if we get it let's hoof it up the pitch and hope for the best, may not be the best football to watch, but it catches out teams that are pressing high and trying to platy real football!

We seemed disjointed and unless it was my imagination, I am sure JWP played much deeper than lately and was a lot less productive. Stephens is growing into a top player, his running with the ball is superb. While Long and Ings play well together, Long needs to concentrate on playing football rather petty fouls, being offside and arguing with the ref!
In summary . we were awful!

I believe that footballManagers’use as many smoke screens as politicians do these days. Does Ralph believe that we’ve all just got off a green bus? myself and 30000 plus Saints fans know that Vestergaard doesn’t have superior skills to Bednarek playing out of defence (even if he had the ball glued to his boots, ) My belief is that Ralph dropped Bednarek for criticising Saints attack for not being ruthless enough (especially when he himself is partly responsible for the shocking goals against record) . If this were true whilst a reprimand is justified risking 3 pts is not worth it when we don’t have adequate cover. KOM.

Vestergaard was played over Bednarek because of his height would have been an advantage against Burnley’s attack

Same reason why Yoshida would get played at right back against teams who’d lump it forward rather than play it on the ground.

I. don’t recall Ralph’s comments referring to Vestergaard’s height as the main reason for selecting him in preference to Bednarek against Burnley. KOM.

I trust we will sign a competent centre back with all the required skills in the Summer rather than a seven foot tall player who has much less ability. KOM.
