Just seen that JWP not in the England 26 but players like Henderson who have not played for months are in, also Danny Ings did not even make the 33 man squad what on earth is the England manager thinking, he said all along he would pick players who were fit and on form, how he justifies this selection is beyond belief, no wonder England have not won anything since 1966 and we even needed home advantage and a Dodgy linesman to get that one done. The fact that Matt Letiss has so few caps says it all.

I agree with you Norfolk Saint about Ings - it’s a travesty he didn’t get the nod and yes it does open up old wounds about Le Tis who would have walked into any other international side including Brazil, Argentina, Italy you name it.
But, and it’s a big but, I think you’re looking at JWP through Saints tinted glasses. I agree it’s a joke giving Henderson a place but JWP would not get in my squad either. He would only just get a place in my Saints side to be honest. Take his dead ball ability away and he’s ordinary. He contributes nothing in the last third - I cannot remember him taking a player on and beating him. Take David Beckham as an example of a dead ball specialist - he could do everything JWP does with a free kick and could change the game in open play. It maybe an unfair comparison but I would pick Mount and Grealish in front of JWP all day long.
Ings though is a different argument and as I would have him as cover for Kane at the very least - England need an impact sub and Southgate was mad to overlook him.

Ings is the more like for like Kane replacement. After he went off vs Austria, we went a bit long ball trying to hit Calvert-Lewis. Danny drops deep just like Kane and allows the other 2 forward players space (as in our goal) . Crazy decision.

Ings, on his day, is better than DCL, Bamford who have had excellent seasons. I am shocked he wasn’t in the 33. Given the size of the squads, I maybe would’ve kept JWP in just for that off chance where we get a free kick in the 84th minute of the Quarter-Finals from 24 yards out. He’s the best in the country in that situation and given there are four right backs, I think one could be dropped for him on that off chance he could save the day.
