At the end of the beeb interview, Cortese seems to hint he is about to return to football. I wonder if its with us?.

I didn't see that other article. Yeah, 'never' is a fairly emphatic answer! Even if there were a takeover, 'never' still sounds pretty final, I'm afraid. Still, sounds like he'll be popping up again somewhere.
