absolutely devastated by the result against Man U.
Forster has no confidence in himself and is costing us badly.
is there any chance of getting Boruc back from loan.
if not then bring back Kelvin please

Does somebody actually agree with me regarding Forster, blimey !

RoKo has made it VERY clear he does not want Artur back. I don't know why he has come to this decision but I trust that he knows why-and in any rate, he has already made that decision so it doesn't really matter.

(So how did Forster do at Arsenal this season compared to Artur last season???)

Move on.

(It could be as simple as having an extra GK signing lined up for January.)

3.) 10 Dec 2014
The arsenal match is the only match that forster performed well in.
forster has been protected by our brilliant back 4. prior to the Man city match Forster has not made a single quality saves.

maybe a new G/K signing would help but we paid 10M for him.
i really don't know why rk likes him.
he is just going to make more costly mistakes and could probably cost us a european place.
he has already cost us 5 points (AV & MU) recently.
bench him before he costs us more.

4.) 10 Dec 2014
And what does dropping Forster achieve? Boruc isn't coming back. Davis although a club legend isn't cut out to play in the PL anymore, at least not week in week out. And Gazzaniga/Cropper are both not ready for this level. Dropping Forster would be of greater damage than our current loss of Alderweireld and Schneiderlin. Remember that prior to the Aston Villa game we were top of the table for chances created against us and shots on our goal, the proof is right there that Forster isn't the one to blame entirely for the lapse in these stats. The build-up play to these recent goals was caused by our outfield players error of judgement and that always leaves risk for punishment. But no, let's use Forster as a scape-goat because if we don't have a player to moan about then Saints aren't even worth watching. Merry Christmas!

Save your time SaintsFan29, you should know that Forster was the guy to mark RVP and stop him being TOTALLY free at a set piece, and he should also have been able to predict Jose would under hit a back pass!!
He is this season's Victor, who replaced Foxy from previous seasons. It seems to be entertaining for some. Maybe in 2015 the Eds. will set up a "sneer" page to allow the "banter" one to be more representative of SUPPORTERS.

{Ed001's Note - but sneering at other supporters for having different opinions from you is obviously allowed, judging by your extremely condescending post.

By the way, I remember a number of goalkeeping coaches expressing concerns about Forster to me in the past, while at Newcastle, while being watched at Celtic by England and when Southampton moved for him. He has been described to me as a flapper, by a very well respected former England goalkeeper. So perhaps your fellow fans just haven't got the same tinted specs on as you and might just have a more objective viewpoint?

Personally I haven't seen a lot of him at Southampton, but he was poor in his time at Newcastle and I never understood why he was ever rated at Celtic. I hope for your sake he has improved, but the little I have seen suggests he is just lucky to have had plenty of protection from a well drilled team in front of him.}

Personally I see this as a needless and pointless discussion.

Forster is better than any other keeper we have. He has weaknesses, that need to be worked out of his game, but is currently our best option.

move on.

Why is this a pointless and needless discussion ? This is a banter page and everybody is entitled to their opinion and let's face it if the people that are saying Forster is the best we have got is good enough for them it confuses me. I know I am repeating myself but we paid 10 million pounds for him which is a massive amount for a keeper. I honestly believe Koeman knows he has faults but would not come out and criticise him publicly. Boruc is still a Southampton player and is on an instant recall loan agreement so if Forster got injured actually going for a cross from a corner or free kick (probably never happen) would we not bring him back ? If not why did we not sell him in the summer. There is no doubt FF is a great shot stopper but is that enough, obviously many people on here think it is and that's fair enough, it is their opinion and that's fine. I personally as you all know think differently and hope you can respect that.

The guy plays for England now (and Saints), not Newcastle. He certainly still has some improvement before he is the complete article, but he has made a lot of improvement in the last few seasons which is why he is where he is, and why should we not think positively that he will continue along that trend?? This is EXACTLY what we have seen with Victor and I will give the guy the chance to prove he can do the same. (The same negativity about Victor costing £12m was being made last season.)And blaming a guy for goals that he was partly at fault, or not at all, seems to me manufacturing a crisis where one does not exist.
The debate about Boruc is fictional. He has "left" the club and is as unlikely to return as Osvaldo.

Unless we sign Messi, Bale, Ronaldo etc. we will not have a team of perfect players. We are a club who sign players usually with the future in mind, and whilst the club have made some mistakes in this respect I am sure that this is a major factor with Forster, who is still a youngster in GK terms.
We do not have another GK on our books who looks better than Forster. Koeman has stated that Forster has made mistakes, but is still a great keeper. If we are going to pull his game apart, let's be consistent. "Poorest in the League at coming for crosses"?? That's just not true, some games he has been superb in that respect. Every game? No.

It is our squad depth currently that is making it hard to stay in the top 4. I think it is not helpful to start blaming one guy for it. Why not blame Clyne for putting his shot a foot the wrong side of the post on Monday? Players are not perfect, and those new to the EPL are less likely to show that and are more likely to be inconsistent especially once their form has been analysed by the other teams.
Work in progress is the situation for the team and for many individual players, some of whom have played a handful of games for us. When we are stating a player is best or worst in the league after a few games I will
disagree with that because the information is not complete to make that judgement.

I can't be bothered with replying, no point.

10.) 10 Dec 2014
I have been here before in defence of keepers. let's be honest Liverpool forum must be full of same about minolet. We need to remember that it is a team game and despite frasers mistakes we had so many shots v mancs that we should have put them away and won yet our front men "will come good" or are just "off the boil". Tbh Mane lucky to be available next three games follwing that takle. Maybe we should give forster a break for a while.
Bring on burnley 4-0 at least!

11.) 10 Dec 2014
It's great that we get mixed opinions on here about player performances, but when it's the same argument each week that Forster is a massive liability it gets a bit tedious. Particularly when the guy proved to us against Arsenal he can be top draw. Ok, so the consistency isn't there yet, but let's give the guy at least a chance to develop, to find some good form. The goalkeeper alone cannot win us the game, there's 10 other players on the field that need to produce and in the last 4 games we haven't had that. How on earth can we out rightly blame that on one player?

12.) 11 Dec 2014
11 Dec 2014 08:51:28
Why have I bothered? Not because I believe Forster is the finished article (I have yet to see a post on here saying he is) but because he deserves a chance to adapt and develop. Yes, GK in the EPL in a team playing a high line and playing out from the back is different to him so he has a lot to learn. And as we saw with Victor, whilst players are trying to adapt other parts of their game suffer ie. he could pass the ball last season but didn't demonstrate that like he can now that he has come to grips with the need for concentration and the speed of movement around him.
From summer onwards there have been constant knee jerk reactions against our owner, directors and a whole host of players and the vast majority have been premature or without foundation. I will also defend Long against the same type of comments. He is having problems adapting to playing the system RoKo wants, but Jay Rod initially had the same problems. I am not yet convinced Long will adapt so well, but was his signing solely around that or was it equally to do with Jay Rod returning and Long then playing more centrally?? It is just too early to tell. Watching the game against utd. reminded me that there were two players on the field who were signed last year, one for £27m, one for £12m. Here we were a season later and how would they be rated/valued now?

If Saints beat Burnley 4 - 0 I'll buy you the car myself as Brucie used to say. May get a result but we just can't score goals and until we get that right and stop letting in stupid needless goals at the other end we will struggle.

14.) 11 Dec 2014
We will see chris, we will see (any car will do cis I'm not a fussy person!)

15.) 12 Dec 2014
Well guys Xavi has just included Fraser in his team of best english champions league players. This is based on 4 games he played against celtic for Barca. He said Fraser made a number of saves that were the best he has ever seen. Now I agree we are all entitled to an opinion and this is a banter page. I do however think someone of Xavis standing who has actually played on the same field saying this carries a wee bit of weight. Another 4 clean sheets coming up for sure!

16.) 13 Dec 2014
12 Dec 2014 22:01:51
To be fair Ron Xavi hasn't been sitting in the Kingsland watching though has he. Not saying he isn't a great shot stopper but Barca don't play the wide game with lots of crosses to tall strikers. They have Messi always looking for the ball just outside the box and Iniesta in midfield so they usually just pass it into the net, their style of play doesn't require long balls, no need.

17.) 13 Dec 2014
13 Dec 2014 11:21:40
To be fair, Xavi doesn't have to sit in kingsland. If its regarding football and Xavi says it, I'll accept it. Seriously though, Forster is a great talent. He clearly isn't the finished article but its only really his decision making that is occasionally lacking and that can be trained. In terms of physical presence and reactions saves, he's excellent. I've complete faith that our coaches will successfully work with him to refine the less polished aspects of his game, as that's what we do and do so well. COYR's!!
