Feel for all those who made the trip north. Might have to start supporting my local team. Lewes fc. Probably better quality. How many are regretting pushing for claude to go.

We will probably get relegated but what worries me more is the continuing support for the club. When we were relegated before there were real reasons as in finance etc. The team back then were not quality but gave their best and fought. We are going to lose shedloads of season ticket holders who can’t believe the board has allowed this to happen. We are in a complete and utter mess and to be frank I understand why hardline supporters might say they’ve had enough. The board of SFC would have been sent to the Tower in the Middle Ages. I have supported this club my entire life ( quite long ) and been through the Branfoot days but this is the absolute low point. We have spent millions on this squad who can perform so much better why can’t the board accept that the whole set up is totally messed up from ownership, board level and management. Very sad days my fellow supporters never thought this situation would return Markus will be turning in his grave.

After the Stoke result I’m not sure I could feel any lower but hello dark cloud of depression. What on Earth? Losing 3-0 to a relegation rival is criminal, home or away, when you don’t even take the game to them. Getting outplayed, outthought and outfought is unacceptable at this stage of the season in the hole we are in.

Most disappointing is MP’s post-match comments. Sam Allardyce and Alan Pardew would be proud. When the s*** hits the fan, blame the players. I agree that the team need to display fight and spirit but this is a young side that has played awful football for 30 league games now, some for 68. They have low confidence and belief, even the senior players look at times as if they’ve never played the game before. That is on the coaching staff and the people who decide the formation, the starting 11, the player roles and the team and individual tactics for each game. Sometimes, when people are low, you have to motivate and inspire them. That is on the coaching staff too. The players have been given no foundation to play with fight and spirit so you cannot blame them when these sorts of displays keep on reappearing.

Or perhaps it is the players simply underperforming. If so, that’s on the recruitment team headed by our Director of Football, Les Reed, who signs the players and on the scouting staff who appear to fail to look into the personality traits of the players they are looking to sign. The same people who were also likely involved in the selection and recruitment of our last two managers. So MP is really blaming the recruitment network too.

Well surprise, surprise MP. I call bulls***. With the team declining so spectacularly in the space of two seasons, there are a number of mitigating factors outside of the club’s control, like greater wealth spread across the league causing a levelling of the playing field and greater competition from 7th – 20th place, the continued loss of our best players to bigger teams etc. But, we still have a squad of players that are better than many of the teams fighting against relegation. So why are we where we are? Coaching and management failing to get the best out of the squad.

So will this defeat cost MP his job? Many of us will hope so, provided the board have an immediate replacement in mind or even one lined up with terms agreed. I’ve felt little hope of a change before now as I expected us to stay up and the board to change things in the summer. But after this new low, my only hope is that the board will act. If they didn’t care about relegation, why sign £20m player in January? That clearly shows a will for us to stay in the league right!? Right?! I think so anyway. If that’s the case, then why persist with a manager that cannot keep this team up?

We’ve discussed who should come in and right now, my feeling is any manager with premier league experience. Literally, anyone in that category would be better than MP. Pardew will no doubt be out of a job shortly. We know M Silva is about, Koeman…maybe that’s aiming too high and reaching for managers who might sneer at tarnishing their reputations further with a stint, no matter how short, at a club in freefall. But there must be someone who fits the bill? Someone who can save us? Its now or never. If MP remains in charge for the West Ham game, we’ll be reliant on two other teams being worse than us. Chances are slim.

Hi guys
Its been a while since I posted and unfortunately we are where I forecast well before Xmas. I was criticised then for panicking prematurely and calling for the manager to go I hate to say I told you so with 30 games gone MP has learnt nothing, continues to play 4 2 3 1 which leaves the midfield overrun and our sole striker isolated feeding off rare scraps. We have a team so low in confidence no players wanting to really compete no pressure put on the opposition slow and pedantic moving forward and like today's 2nd Newcastle goal they score from our corner. Sims is the only bright spark, our only option is to get Silva in as manager with 8 games left otherwise with Mp in charge we will sleepwalk into the championship, w Brom are gone so 2 places left and I think palace will fight and put us down so anyone any better ideas? Regards vs.

Good post Figo, we being most of us have seen the writing on the wall for a long, long time. There is no answer to this anymore the deed is done. We as a proud football club have lost the support and that is a very worrying thing. I know 4 season ticket holders who will not renew and they mean it. When I asked why they said they pay money to be entertained, win, lose or draw . I remember those days, if we lost it hurt but we at least gave everything. This manager has destroyed any confidence the players have due to the negative system but the board employed him. What a mess.

From right at the start of the season MP kept saying, if we keep playing this way we will start winning. I said it then, I said it all the way through the season . NO WE WON'T START WINNING!

What more had to happen for MP to change the formation? one win in 16 before today and he still continued today with his same ol' game plan!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
but if it is broke then fix it .!

Absolutely clueless . how can the management of our club let this happen? lost for words.

Agree with all, good posts. The thing that I am most irritated with though, is people say it’s time late. With 8 games left and the new manager bounce, we still have 9 points in us but time is literally running out. I just can’t see ho anyone is to remin in a job after 1 win in 18.

Long time since I've posted and I'm in reflective mood.
Really good posts, I was asking for change pre-Christmas, things have not improved and now the manager is abdicating responsibility for our continued stuttering. I agree players need to play, but the systems/ tactics that are being used are defensive and negative. Playing one forward every game and trying to hold the ball without creating chances is why we are where we are.

I think we will go down because we don't score very often and appeared to have lost our resilience and fight. Our defence is leaky and players look out of sorts, with a manager bereft of any creative ideas of how to turn things around, I'm not surprised. I do feel the board need to take the criticism too
and I really don't think a change will occur until next season, or maybe the board will keep faith in MP to push for a promotion after the relegation?

I can't see where our next win in the league will come from but hope every game I'm proven wrong
very disappointing and frustrating.
