Does this setback hilight our ongoing need for a top class goalkeeper and centre back and will this be resolved in this transfer window.

Yes, yes and probably not.

It's a shame that there is a negative after this defeat, and players who have been hailed as heroes over the last few weeks have suddenly become the bad guys.
From trying to get a win, keep a clean sheet, we are now moaning because we didn't win 4 in a row - oh what a fickle lot we are. Let's not forget Wolves are not some average team, they have some exciting, skillful players.
Yes we were two nil up! whereas once when we were 1-0 up we would shut shop for 85 minutes and yepp, end up losing, this time we went for three!
Wolves changed formation at half time and we didn't adjust for that change - so for the first time in many games our midfield was overrun and hence our defense lost their protection. Wolves were quick, clever and strong!
We should never have taken Armstrong off! we needed to boost our midfield not make it weaker. Redmond was having one of those 'I'm going to beat as many players as i can and then lose it' games. He offers very little in terms of bolstering the defence/ midfield. He should have been replaced with Romeu and Armstrong left on.

So maybe just a victim of our winning success, not beefing up midfield and going for more goals.

COYR.

I agree with you Rich, although to lose a 2-0 lead in the form we've been in is very disappointing. Again, I think it comes down to simple defensive errors, for the first goal, Bednerak lunges in on Traore instead of keeping on his feet and showing him down the line, and he picks out an unmarked Nuto in the box, who I feel Cedric could've down a better job of picking up. For the second goal, Stephens makes a tackle he didn't really need to and we concede the penalty. For the third again it's an counter attacking goal and no one picks up Jimenez in the box.

That is the trouble with playing a high press, with a high line if you come up against a team that can move the ball fast and get in behind you then you will concede. It's how we conceded against Leicester and how we conceded two of the goals on the weekend.

I like the confidence from Ralph though, he could've easily brought on Vestergaard and Romeu and halftime and we could've sat back and tried to maintain our lead.

But we don't need another CB, that will not be the magical solution to all our losses. We've spent so much over the past 3 years on CB's and they're nowhere to be seen.

For some reason our passing against Wolves was no where near as accurate. Yes we got turned over a couple of times by wolves pressing, but more often than not it was our poor passing that was letting us down. Just maybe we were a little 'cocky' with our quick 1-2 passing because we seemed to be trying it more and more and the mistakes were getting us caught out. Let's be fair, when you've beaten Leicester and Chelsea away and Spurs at home, you are allowed to be 'cocky'. But we were suddenly playing Liverpool-esque style with lots of clever 1-2s and lots of overlaps.
I think we should have shored up at 2-0, not boring 10 men behind the ball, but a lot more careful.

Saintjay - as for your comment 'no one picks up Jimenez in the box' . i have watched this goal umpteen times and there were 5 or 6 of our players watching the player with the ball - it was bizarre. they all seemed to forget their marking skills! Jimenez could have set up a deck chair and poured himself a beer and we still wouldn't have noticed him !

Crystal Palace 1-3 to Saints .

It seems to be the case for a lot of the goals we concede Rich. Our defence will get back into the six yard box or cover an area, but they don't pick the opponents up. This allows our opponents to wonder into the box unopposed and unmarked and with a simple pull back they can be found. Then you have all of our defence scrambling towards that man to make a block. I guess this is how they're getting coached, just get back in the box. But it feels like the players are never aware of what's going on around them.

perhaps we could start a new chant 'BEEEEEHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIND YOU'
and i agree, up until our recent excellent form, many a goal was scored by these means. But we seem to have been much better of late . until Wolves. The two players that were substituted at 71 mins, Long and Armstrong are also excellent at coming back and marking. Ings is the same. so when we took (take) these sort of players off we are losing an extra man (men) with good back tracking.
Something we need to be careful of.

Saintjay.
When you say: "But we don't need another CB, that will not be the magical solution to all our losses. We've spent so much over the past 3 years on CB's and they're nowhere to be seen".
I agree and disagree with you.
Yes we have spent a lot on CBs that are nowhere to be seen. But that is precisely why we DO need another CB, only a half decent one this time! Maybe January is the wrong time, but we need to have a clear out (Hoedt, Vestergaard, Stephens, Danso) and buy in some quality.
