Any ideas or (realistic) preferences for the No6 Ralph would like? I would love Winks on loan.

Not Winks imo. I think he'd be decent if we played in a midfield 3 but not enough of a presence to play in the pivot.

We need a play winning midfielder that's also quite technical and can pick a pass. Watching Romeu on Saturday was painful at times. Taking up good positions on the pitch but not able to technically pick that killer ball.

Genuinely think we should play Adams in a deeper position.

Romeu as I have written below, is a tough tackler who breaks up attacks . but . the modern game has no place for someone who’s only attribute is that.
His positional play is awful, his passing is not great, I won’t even bother checking the stats on his ‘though balls’ etc as virtually zero will be the answer.
But does the manager have the balls to not play him .
And JWP for that matter.
Adams is a very intelligent player . gets very little opportunity to make that superb pass.

Is JWP and Armstrong our best Midfield pair then? I’d be happy with that, but again that means JWP sits a bit deeper.

Manny
It’s a bit complicated - Ralph wants to play the very high press, we are good at it… BUT and it’s a big but .
Firstly It relies very heavily on keeping the ball once you have gained possession.
we have several players who lose the ball, be that poor passing or being turned over. Ie Redmond, Djenepo, Walcott, Romeu
It also relies on quick players if we lose the ball .
Romeu and JWP are way too slow to recover the ball .

Armstrong can press, keep the ball, move the ball quickly, recover quickly . so yes he has to be in the midfield.

If Ralph is going to continue this bizarre selection of Djenepo, then he needs to back off from his pressing.

I’d love to see

Tino Bednerek Salisu Perraud
Mo Armstrong Tella KWP
Armstrong Broja

This team can attack and defend.

The issue is glaringly obvious - you can get away with playing one but not both. Neither are creative and both are painfully slow in delivering a forward ball - I’m not even talking about a defence splitting ball.

How many PL teams would pick Romeu as a starter. Stuart gets A for effort but only B for ability. Midfield and GK is our problem but probably strong enough, just, to put perform the other 5 sides in the bottom 6 league.
