Honest question .
Would you be surprised if Ralph was sacked?

My answer : there is absolutely nothing in the way we play that has been progress since he was manager.

I would right now just because he still seems to (for now) have the faith of the board and players. Also the good results against MUN and MCI. We haven’t really played bad apart from yesterday and the second half against Everton, but we just are not clinical.

Big question is, who on Earth comes in to improve the club? Would Howe take us on right now?

I genuinely wouldn't. But I don't think it's results on the pitch that will get him sacked. It's the fact that St Mary's is failing to sell all of the tickets. 4,000 empty seats that's more than 10% of the stadium capacity. That's what lost Puel his job and he didn't do a bad job.

I think he should be. He has shown repeatedly that he is not able to get the best out of the players available to him.

Poor team selection
Players out of position
Poor substitutions
Not changing tactics
Lack of game plan other than the high press
Picks JWP and Romeu for every game which makes us slow and predictable.

Ralph reminds me of the football coach at school. Picks his favourites first, regardless of opponents, fitness, skill, form.
Perhaps Redmond’s Dad used to deliver milk to Ralph.
Djenepo used to go to school with Ralph’s Brother .

I just but I don’t jest …

Redmond, JWP, Romeu, McCarthy always picked.

There is. Certainly porky pies/ smoke screens bellowing out of St Mary ‘s re injuries Zero chance of Stu Armstrong being considered. for Scotland when he is not fit enough. to train with Saints match squad (does Ralph think we all just got off from a green bus)? What’s going on with Lyanco? Bought to fill a central position now but not available due to (not up to speed or standard of PL)! Cannot communicate in English surely Scouts/ Management would have been well aware of these drawbacks before signing.? Could he be a potential replacement for Romeu in the future? What about young Simeu? How close to an appearance? Should the spotlight again be on our Coaching Staff are we getting the required results as shortcomings become repeatative? However a change of pace and here is my suggested team ; McCarthy or Forster KWP Perrault Bednarek Salisu Diallo Tino S. Armstrong Tella Broja Adams (A Armstrong v Chelsea)

Current Topic. Should Ralph be unable to put together a winning team formula pretty soon with his current squad (and well before a rescue package by way of the necessary Jan market) ) I would suggest candidates who probably could. Graham Potter (Brighton) Thomas Frank (Brentford) Roberto Martinez (Director of Football (Belgium Nat Team ) all subject to availability!

{Ed014's Note - no offence, but I think Potter is likely to go to a bigger club after Brighton Johnny.

Steer well clear of Martinez though he’s is useless and currently wasting all the talent at his disposal.

Never done a good job anywhere. He would take you no where mate.

Thanks Ed I’ll delete RM from my list and maybe replace with Frank Lampard.

{Ed001's Note - that's even worse, Lampard is terrible. Why not look at someone like Ian Evatt??}

Thanks Ed not familiar with IAN Evatt although limited experience in lower leagues . With my original choice of Benetez well and truly missed I guess I had better stick with Potter or Frank for the time being to avoid a comprehensive list of rejects!

{Ed001's Note - Frank looks a decent choice, not so sure Potter would want to give up Brighton, where he gets full backing, to move to Southampton, where he wouldn't get the same support. At best it is a sideways move currently, when he will have options from clubs with much more financial means that Southampton should he leave BHA.}

Thanks for your input Ed.
As someone who has supported Saints for 55 years, it does sadden me to be posting such negative posts on here.
But I watch week in week out, managers tweaking teams. In real time to adjust for an opponents change of formation / tactics.
In Ralph, not only does he never change the team, he sticks to the same players regardless of contribution.
I’ve never ever known anyone like it. If as you say Martinez does not utilise that players correctly, we certainly don’t want him here!
We have made some of the best signings in years that excited all of us. where are they, on the bench or not even in the squad - apart from Tino who Ralph is now instructing to not play so much forward!

So who do you think Ed we should go for. I know you’re not a big fan of Eddie Howe

There is one manager who we should get back

Ronald Koeman.

It's not a matter of which manager we would like to come in and take over from Ralph. It's more a case of would any of the managers named want to come to us. My guess would be no.

Teejay .

Southampton must have (or had! ) something to make itself attractive as we have managed to attract some real good prospects and top players recently.
BUT any players looking to come here now are going to be put off by how our recent acquisitions have been snubbed!
Perraud springs to mind; it’s not like he’s played badly, in fact he’s been superb.

Anyway I digress!

If we can’t attract a replacement for Ralph we are heading for relegation. We are not set up to win games and that is exactly what we need to do to stand any chance of staying up.

I disagree with you here teejay.

Obviously, we're not in a position where we would probably be able to attract any world-class manager that is not currently working or by that means poach a coach from another club. However, we're still a PL club, we're still going to give any manager a very very good salary and I think that alone would be enough to get in a new manager if we needed one.

Rich, I also don't think Ronald Koeman would be a good manager to bring in (should he and Ralph both be sacked from their respective clubs) . Yes, Koeman worked wonders with us, with his two seasons in charge. But look at the circumstances, we had just finished 8th in the Premier League and sold: Shaw, Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, and Lambert for about £80m. With that, he was able to buy the players that he wanted. He inherited a very good team and made it even better with his knowledge. If he was to join us again he wouldn't get the same opportunity.

In all seriousness, I can see us keeping hold of Ralph for the rest of the season. If relegation looks a real possibility by 25 games in only then might we sack Ralph and then bring in a manager just to keep us up. Another Mark Hughes situation.

Good points re RK .
I suppose I loved the way he had playing and glossed over the background.
I am more than happy for Ralph to stay IF he improves in every aspect I mention regularly.
The thought of watching another 15 or so games like those so far, is a sobering one.
He doesn’t seem to have grasped that draws won’t keep us up. Sadly he has no idea how to win games, that’s obvious by his bizarre almost obsessive picking of Redmond, Djenepo, prowse and Romeu

I wouldn’t mind if he played Tella . or Perraud at left back . even Broja upfront (ahead of Redmond! ) .
but he isn’t.

I think nothing will shake Ralph let alone stir him. His latest comment re Stuart Armstrong returning to the team makes a 00-7 score against Chelsea even more likely!
Something like .
‘He has a lot to do to get his place back’
Of course, I forgot, Saints are playing great football, scoring lots and winning games!

‘No Time To Be A Saints Fan’ . coming to a football stadium near you.
