Given Dembele is off the cards and no names seem to be flying about, here's a list of those I think are either reasonable shouts, possible, might come to us, or that we could get a deal on to come in and score goals for us.

Youssef En-Nesyri (25) - Sevilla. Bit injury plagued last season but scored 18 in La Liga in 20/21, second choice at the moment. Why it probably won't happen - he'd be leaving a club currently in the CL.

Jordan Larsson (25) - Free agent. Decent record at Spartak, left due to obvious Russian reasons. Wouldn't cost us, so could offer good wages. However has yet to play in a 'big' league so would be a risk.

Kelechi Iheanacho (25) - Leicester. Is third choice at Leicester, who aren't in Europe, and he has still yet to nail down a consistent starting spot which we could offer him - a poacher, and when he got starts he scored at a decent rate. Would probably be the dearer side of £20m, and not sure he would want the move, or that Leicester would sell.

Teemu Pukki (32) - Norwich. Proven PL goal scorer, wouldn't cost the Earth at his age - which is also a negative as we would probably only have two years max of him. Norwich would be reluctant to sell but if he were under £10m, I think he'd be worth it.

Ben Brereton (23) - Blackburn. Excellent form, carried Blackburn after Arma left, would probably cost around £17m, however unproven and we've seen how his former strike partner has fared, but maybe they'd work well together again?

Eddie Nketiah (23) - Arsenal (loan). Just signed a new contract so wouldn't be sold, he is second choice so would rely on Arsenal buying another forward which is being rumoured, would lead our line and on a loan I think would be excellent for the season.

Emmanuel Dennis (24) - Watford. Would really really want this to happen. Great season for a poor Watford side. Could afford him, scored goals in the premier league. Don't know why we aren't pressing for this more but there must be something behind the scenes.

Liam Delap (19) - Man City. Continuing our raid of City's youth teams, with a buy back, he is touted as their best academy product, our new chief scout knows him, he has mates who would be at the club, and he won't get first team minutes at City. For £16m+ he's a risk, but might be worth taking.

You have certainly done your homework on quality Centre Forwards who would definitely improve our team SaintGGsy.Whilst I have no knowledge of the foreign players mentioned I am all in on the English Leagues Players - particularly the last 4 listed.Add to them Vitinha of SC Braga of Portugal (who apparently has many of the qualities required by Saints)plus a couple of ‘Our Scouts’ were reported camped out in Portugal last season following a young forward from SC Braga -hence my previous bet with Millertime for A YARD OF ALE should this signing materialise. Of course I would be ‘over the moon’ should one of your suggestions accompany him (forming the most prolific partnership possible)which would be a giant step forward for SFC and certainly eliminate any fears of relegation!

Love a yard of ale bet ? He would also be excellent. I think I’d rather we go for 2 £10m forwards rather than 1 £20m forward (remember Carrillo) who may be younger, as in our position we aren’t going to get the fabled ‘20 goal a season’ striker coming to us. But so far the window has been excellent, hopefully a FB, AM, ST (or two) still to come and I might even be dreaming of the top half.

Surely Ings should be in that list?

Realistically don’t see him coming back, nor would I trust him to stay if he had one good run again to go off for the money. Would love him to, but he is probably starting when fit at Villa - not that he has been very fit since leaving.

Also what would Villa be charging us? Probably not much less than they paid 12 months ago. A crying shame.

I wouldn’t mind Iheanacho from that list. When he gets a good run of games he can be prolific. Skilful and a good finisher.

Maybe we can work out a deal with Leicester as they want Bednarek.

Let’s see…
