In the last week or so here's a list of our players who have been linked with other clubs:

Shaw - Manchester United, Chelsea
Lallana - Manchester United, Liverpool
Chambers - Arsenal
Schneiderlin - Arsenal, Liverpool
Rodriguez - Liverpool
Lovren - Manchester United, Liverpool

The sources are too numerous to list but I've seen all of them and a few more. Whilst it's flattering to see our lads being linked to Champions league sides, a vindication of their quality, it's becoming the go to place for lazy journos to spout off about players leaving. If all of the players they say will leave then we'll be left with about 4 players in the first team. For anybody who wants to listen heres several reasons many of these won't happen;

Shaw - whilst I'm convinced he will go to Chelsea I have a sneaking suspicion he'll be here for another year. Jose high praise of Azpilicueta suggests he's not looking for an immediate replacement, also I doubt he'll go to United.

Lallana - aside from being utterly loyal to the club and the club utterly loyal to him over the years? If he was going to go at any time it'd have been 2 or 3 years ago. He's the skipper, he's staying. He has stated numerous times his desire to raise his child in Hampshire as well. Family comes first. (also L'pool fans he's an Everton supporter. )

Chambers - Hampshire lad through and through, this is the team he supports and their is literally not a single reason to leave.

Schneiderlin - I could see him leave, but I don't see the club or manager being willing to sell. He's without a doubt our best man in the middle and unless we got a gargantuan offer, enough to sign a suitable replacement, I think we'd knock back any offers.

Rodriguez - Simply put, at what 'bigger club' will he get the kind of playing time he gets here? Everton at a stretch but they're not so much better that he'd probably rather stay.

Lovren - Lastly he's only been here a year and anybody that has been paying attention will realise how utterly in love with the whole area he is. He's currently basing his private business in Hampshire also. He's setting down some roots and I think he'll be here for 2 years at the absolute minimum.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just getting sick of the ridiculous assumption of how all of our players will be signing for the bigger teams.

Shaw will go, not so sure about the others. Manager's position is key.
Seems to be nailed on he's going back to Spain so maybe Lovren will say "what happened to the project" and ask for a move. He's ambitious and highly rated and club would make a profit.
Just don't see any of the others as it would cost to replace, academy products aren't ready and they're all tied to reasonable contracts.
Cork and Fonte aren't so they're going that's for sure

Well TJ, I hope you are right, the interest is flattering but it must be very unsettling for them, the most bandied word`s in football just now " youth & British ", now there`s a novelty!

Cork's out injured, Wanyama doesn't look fit (reasons for this can be debated separately, as can his mobility, concentration, skill etc) so who else can cover CM? Davis can move inside, JWP is lightweight (decent dead ball but that's it). Any other options anyone?
Spider is a couple of bookings from a ban, also if Cork gets fit for when Spider has to take a suspension Poch says Wanyama can't play with Cork. Why not? I can only assume because passing quickly to Vic is not an option?
And our goal scoring prowess seems to get weaker as the season goes on.
Champions League in the near future?

Stop being so negative! Look at the bright side for once

CHEER UP

I think you need to spell out what you perceive to be the bright side, because quite a few of us don't necessarily share your optimism

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama is a beast, we don't need anyone else.
Out of interest how many yellow's is he on and how many games left to end of season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes cheer up son your looking at the game of football all wrong it's not about if your team is winning or loseing its about getting away from the wife for the afternoon and drinking hot bovril with your chum's you know jumpers for goal posts! And all that stuff!
Just be a happy clapper and surpport your team no matter what!or your not a REAL fan!
Give me a break?

I don't understand all the doom-mongers - most of which are anonymous posters Ed - considering our position.

We have wealthy backers; we are in the top half of the table; Our academy has gone into overdrive to produce quality players; we strengthen our side every summer.

Overall, there is very little to be negative about. That is unless you're looking for conspiracies. KL will sell the players, sell the club, Pochettino is off, blah, blah, blah.

Come on, get a grip

With regard to Wanyama I am not to concerned with his form or fitness that will come. What I am concerned about is that the way he plays drags us into defending far to deep. With Cork we seem able to hold the line near halfway. With Wanyama we appear to be trying to counter attack from the edge of own box. no wonder things look a bit ugly when he's on
