I've recently posted saying that we should look for championship and maybe premier league players so that we can become promotion challengers come the start of the season 2011/2012, but according to the Southampton FC facebook page, saints have made a bid for a Huddersfield winger? We need to look to championship and premier league players, not league one. However, according to SSN, the bookies have said that we are fifth favourties to go up this season.

You do know most of the comments on the southampton fc facebook wall are not from the club itself right?

BTW Huddersfield local press debunked the Gary Roberts story the day it was published.

Is there no other news on other possible strikers other than Maynard? What about the italian league, thought Cortese had contacts over there, cheers.

I am getting sick of all the chambo rumours If they are going to let the lad go they need to do it now so they can push on and use the money to sign a few players, I don't wanna see 2-3 weeks before the start of the season him leave and we sign a few players who won't have had time to gell or work with the team. Hope he stays obviously tho, on a plus I think one massive plus of Adkins is the fact he was a physio you know they are going to be in great shape at the start of the season, I think it makes a massive difference if you are the fitter team and can run for 90 minutes plus, if your fitter you don't leak those last minute goals, we need to start from the back this year we will have no problem getting goals we just need to get really tight at the back, make st mary's a fortress and we will be up there with one or additions. I hate all the BS that are fans are posting on here you lot make saints fans look like a mass bunch of C***S, COYR

Where are the aoc rumours coming from though? Only paper that repeatedly reports it is The Mirror, which is the least reliable paper for football stuff, which is quite an achievement since they all print rubbish) and SSN, who again are usually wrong nowadays, especially relating to Southampton. (Remember SSN were 100% certain Paul Hart was going to replace AP)

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if AOC is still with us on the first of September.

I have a sense of humour and love the banter but, too many saints fans make the rest of us look like a bunch of idiots, granted there is a lot of stuff posted on here that is blatant skate stuff, but the majority is saints fans thinking that were bigger than man utd on here posting s**te all over this website not just the banter pages as chapel stand pointed out above, all these rumours come from clubs trying to unsettle the lad and lets be honest it probaly has, ie his dad stating on skysports he would want him to be at arsenal, Im just saying if anyone makes a 10 million bid i think it would be good business on our part, would you rather have an unhappy player who is being kept against his will, obv this may not be the case but we all no what players are like, this may not happen don't get me wrong but i would love the OS to have an interview with player and manager so it could be put to bed.

Any interview would be the same old bollocks. Alex has said he's happy here, but of course he would jump at the chance of joining a top Prem side. If he was interviewed he would say the usual, 'Never say never', and side-step the answers. I don't agree £10m would be good business. He is worth more, his potential is huge. Good business is to let him blossom while still retaining his services. Another good season and more sharks will be circling. A big money offer isn't going to be out of the equation until he gets toward the end of his contract which has a few years on it I believe. He's no Lallana, but will be needed next season if we're to push for promotion. I'm more concerned about him playing with naivety and arrogance than without heart.
