Well I'm delighted that Wanyma has, signed, now we have one of the best DM combinations in the league, rotating him Shneiderlin and Cork will be class! Now another CB is needed in my opinion as now we only have Lovren, Fonte, Yoshida and Hoiveld and unless any of Turnball, Stephens or Martin are ready for our first team, I don't beleive Jos is up to it and he maybe sold, I'd like Cheike Kouyate, we need cover at RB and LB and as there is no point in signing a player for back up, we should look at Chambers and Taggart, if not Cork can cover RB and Clyne can play LB, we need a winger and a striker too. I think big money should be spent on a striker, but I'd love Victor Moses 8m or Scot Sinclair 5m to sign, to rotate with our current wingers and up front well Damiao 18m would be nice, Adrian 7m or maybe just give Sharp a go! COYR!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry guys you've signed a pup for £12m, if you already have a decent DM why pay that money for a squad player. Judging by OP's post you won't be doing much attacking this year so maybe "a good CL game against Barcalona" is just what you need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha you can't deny he's a class signing and we need another DM, the 3 of them will compete for the 2 places and the other will be rotated with them

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet another nameless troll demonstrates his inabilty to read, ignorance of quality and Poch's playing style.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Wanyama is "quality" why were none of the big teams in for him? face it guys, you are victims of the celtic propaganda machine, talk a distinctly average player up with the help of the compliant scottish media and somebody will fall for it, look at Hooper, £4-£6m, Hull have just said no thanks. Wanyama is as slow as a week in the jail, check out his stats in CL games, Red & yellow cards, how many times he actually finished a game! The EPL is a lot quicker than he is used to so expect more of the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

I`m no expert but I think the scouts may have looked further than the local press for Wanyama`s cv.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jealous fan of another team above. We are southampton, we buy who we waaanntt. In cortese and MoPo we trust. push for top 8 us this season, COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a jealous fan, just a realist, this " we buy who we want" will mean trouble if you get relegated (not an unrealistic scenario, 2nd season syndrome perhaps, are you the next Wolves?), and did your scouts check out the Norwegian guy you just sent back? they are obviously good at finding young players, your record speaks for itself in that respect, but in Wanyama, oh dear oh dear!

Congrats on signing Wanyama from a very envious Everton fan, Awesome player, think you're going to have a good season, especially with another couple of signings your being linked with.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice to see comments from decent football fans. I really have high hopes for the future here on the south coast. What's your thoughts on Martinez so far?

Agree0 Disagree0

I supported wigan in all the relegation battles they had. I thought martinez was a great young manager who could become the next sir alex ferguson.
Lets just say with martinez managing your squad you won't be any where near relegation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton just need to start making some quality signings now, what with Baines going (eventually). Joel is good, but the others. Hmm. Well, from a Saints fan, so long as Everton finish higher then Liverpool I'm happy!

Wanyama was outstanding in the champions league so do not doubt what a player you have got here he might coast games but you will notice when he is out of the side all the best bhoys hail hail

Celtic fan here, all the best to big Vic and you saint's this, as for the fan den the page saying spl the same championship com on pal, we can only beat what is in front if you and if you watch the highlighs of the ba

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get muppets at every club. Most of us have every respect for Celtic and couldn't care less what league you are in.

Just like the Celtic fans slagging Saints saying it's a massive step down, there's no point listening to them. End of day Celtic are happy, Saints are happy and Wanyama is happy.

Good luck this season pal. Enjoyed your CL campaign last time round. More of the same please.

No doubt it will be a while until another player is signed. Can anybody tell me who signed Forren, because I can remember Nigel Adkins being asked about Forren and his reply was and I quote, you're asking the wrong person. Talk doing the rounds was it was Pochettino signing. Maybe it was or wasn't perhaps Les Reed or Cortese. let's hope our new signing is the choice of the manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What is the problem? MP has had a good chance to assess his players and has obviously decided the CBs need strengthening. He would not have decided that and then decided to keep all the existing players!

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Was a Cortese/Reed signing. They will have learned from there mistake now

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Yoshida wasn't Adkins signing and he didn't even know about the Ramirez signing till the day it happened. Both Cortese signings so I think Forren was from Les Reed or Cortese. I knew this from Dean Wilkins little brother whom I used to work with

Personally, I'd love to see Billy Sharp given a shot in the Premier League, I think he was harshly treated last season after he scored vital goals against P*mpey and Doncaster. I also believe Mayuka and Lee should also be given a chance as they haven't really had a go. Saints should spend their money on a quick winger (moses) and a back up LB/RB (bertrand on loan possibly)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You seem to like the idea of signing people from Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Billy was badly treated but not good enough to take us to the next level. Lee looks to weak, but would like to see more of Mayuka. But MoPo clearly doesn't rate him, and I trust his opinion! Not sure either Moses or Bertrand are the way forward either

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt Bertand would sign to cover Luke, but as Poch is friends with Moourino deals are possible, Moses would be great

Agree0 Disagree0

Betrand is rubbish

Whats the story with Forren? why didn't MP fancy him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

MP isn't into that sort of thing. Prefers the ladies.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Beat me to it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe if he did his hair nice once and a while, you know made more of an effort. but I guess some men are just hard to please ;-)

Victor's signing was annouced today! Whoever said tomorrow has got that wrong! Anyway who are we signing next? Apartfrom Luke of course which will be a massive signing for us! so happy to be a Saints fan! Happy days are here!

Forren goes back to Molde for similar fee we payed for him. What a pity.

Chappers also leaves. Contract mutually terminated. Musnt forget what he did for us in our consecutive promotion seasons. Wish them both sucess in future.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chaplow was brilliant for us. Will always be fondly remembered at St Mary's.

Well guys i'm a celtic fan and just want to say congrats on your signing of wanyama, has the potential to be one of the very best around.

Cheers for the memories vic and all the best.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers pal you're a gent. Hope you enjoy the spending spree that's likely to be on the cards for the buoys! :-)

Thank you. Nice to hear from Celtic fans that aren't deluded and bitter. Good luck walking to your title again mate

Let me be one of the 1st to say congratulations on getting victor wanyama.

Gutted he's left Celtic but glad he's got a move. The spl is hopeless there's no hiding that however wanyama shined in both league & European spot light. I strongly believe celtic will have a good sell on clause for a later date but enjoy this 21 year old talent. The drop out rate from Scottish to English football is high however wanyama will go very far and will give the Southampton fans maybe flashes of talent.

All the best for the season ahead it looks like Southampton have a good team for next year

Seeing as saints have got rid of Forren, who do you think we will get to replace him? Sorenson or Sane? Or dome like that?

What does everyone think? Forren was an odd one tbh :s

Does the departure of Forren mean that we're going to bring in another CB? At least that's what I hope. I think Yoshida and Lovren is class, but except them it's not very good. Would like to see us signing a CB that can either take Yoshidas place or at least compete with him about the one next to Lovren. Fonte and Hooiveld just ain't good enough.

And by the way, the whole Forren story is extremely weird.

Cheers, Saint from Sweden

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hello Saint from Sweden.

I bloody hope so. Can't cope with another season of Hooiveld at LCB.

So, looks like the Wanyama deal is done. What position do people think he'll play next season? In a 4-3-3? Take Davis's role behind Lambert? Would be harsh to bench Cork, he was clearly missed in the opening stages of last season.

mssaint

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We play 4-2-3-1 i'd imagine we will line up with
Gk Boruc
Rb clynne
Rcb lovren or yoshida
Lcb Forren or Hooiveld
Lb shaw
Cdm schnerdline
Cdm wanyama or cork
Ram pucheon or mayuka
Cam davis or gaston
Lam lallana or Rodriguez
St lambert

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be harsh to bench Cork, doesn't mean it won't happen. Unfortunately I think We'll see less of Cork this season and he'll probably become a rotation player to allow Morgan and Victor to rest from the high tempo game.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be harsh to drop either davis or cork neither stop running I love seeing davis play slightly further forward but carnt see us changing the 4-2-3-1its working well

Agree0 Disagree0

Forren won't be in the squad then!

mssaint

Agree0 Disagree0

Wtf another left footed cb must be on his way then I find the forren transfer very strange indeed

Agree0 Disagree0

Based on that squad we need:

1 x LCB
1 x LB
1 x RAM/CAM
1 x ST

Ideally I'd add RW + RB, but can't see us signing 8 players this window.

Napoli have just signed Callejon, which I assume means they won't be buying Damiao also?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2013 10:12:40
Not really much of a rumour but if the deal for damiao falls through, I think we should try and hijack arsenals move for gonzalo higuain, worth around the same amount of money and he's a quality player too

Saint Number 34

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I suspect wages would be an issue. Whilst Damiao would be costly it wouldn't be the same level as G-Hig

Agree0 Disagree0

No matter how good higuain is we would never afford his wages
not with out fiddling with some books lol

John Hartson has slated the Wanyama move as a big step down and we'll be fighting relegation. Bitter much? What a total person.

Source - tribalfootball.com / Scottish sun

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a human being I'm glad he made a full and complete recovery. As man JH is and will remain abit of a tool.

Agree0 Disagree0

I always remember his horror tackle on one of our players about 10 years ago, didn't even get a booking I think. Haven't really liked him since then

Agree0 Disagree0

The Tackle was against "Jesus" who jumped straight back up and got on with the game. I remember it well.

Studs in his chest. He always was a dirty B>>tard.

Agree0 Disagree0

And what would hartson know
needs to look closer to home
cardiff now that's fighting relegation

Why has hatson come out of the
woodwork all of a sudden
not interested what he says

this is for those people that doubt our interest in Osvaldo. "ASRomaradio. it broadcast a conversation between club director Claudio Fenucci and director of sport Walter Sabatini, in which it emerged that they hoped that Osvaldo - who was out of the country - would also get a bad reception (from the Roma fans), convincing him to accept an offer from Southampton and leave this summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Poch revealed he was offered to us and we declined to make an offer. I for one really hope don't get him his attitude and personality doesn't fit in with our squad
